Fly4FunNot sure if this has been posted yet... but I really wish the fad of "(Insert Name)'ing" and then posing in a particular way would just go away (i.e. Tebowing, Kaepernicking, Dufnering)

Why does no one else seem to get this. This kid was a world class punk. Multiple violent acts at school as well as drugs and he is an innocent? No way. If this kid was innocent he would not have even been there. He would have been in his neighborhood.gport_tennis;1472698 wrote:If TM hadn't gotten himself suspended from school he would have been with his mom and this would not have happened...
Also funny that some of the same people who advocate protecting your 'hood are opposing GZ for doing the same thing. Many of those people don't even pursue or ask questions...they just see someone in their hood they dont like and start pulling the trigger. -
Gblockverdict was correct based upon evidence...and the charge im not sure murder was the correct charge. i was dissapointed however to see so many poeple justify someone following someone around and labeling them as "suspicious" just for walking down the street. "Suspicious" just because you re black. "
suspicious" just be cause you have a hoodie on. it wasnt late at night this is a kid walking down the street. lots of kids of all colors wear hoodies and if it was sprinkling they put the hood up. hell they put the hood up and put headphones on i see it everyday. its not suspicious. you dont call the police and start following someone. it caused someone to die.
whatever you say about TM and his pictures or whatever is irrelevant. GZ didnt know any of that. even if he did.. so a 17 yr old has tats, smoked some weed and got suspended twice and even got into a few fights...all in all seemed like a nice kid who didnt deserve to die. i know lots of people who play hard on the internet with gun pics and drug pics and wanna be thugs but in reality they are in the house by 9pm every night and go to work at 7 am. kinda like the internet personas on here arent even close to real life. just seems like if GZ wanted to put himself in that position he should have just took the ass whipping. his injuries werent much at all to escalate a street fight to a gun fight. no evidence that a smaller much younger person was going to kill him.
as far as the reactions of blacks they are individuals i cant tell you how to feel about something because i dont have the same history as you do . i just have to respect your feelings as you do mine. past and present profiling and such are elements that many people grow up with and it is a very sore subject with many people its prevelent in many ethnic backgrounds and each person interprets it differently. its not just blacks the same could be said for any poor people, but blacks you have to admit outside of oj who was rich, havent gotten much from the legal system.
blacks however need to stop killing blacks before they riot over this tho -

This speaks to your first paragraph. Thankfully all anyone did was call the police, who may have overreacted... -

and this is why many people are upset...its not just about this specific case. its the reality of america. i cant say blacks arent partly to blame but between tv and movies and gang violence which represent only a small number of blacks, everyone else pays the price because most people only know what they see on tv or newsFly4Fun;1472875 wrote:http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2013/06/30/teen-wants-apology-after-officer-pulls-gun.html

O-TrapBased on the fact that Zimmerman was also of minority descent, it seems to me that any suspicion he had directed at Martin was AT LEAST as much based on his different socioeconomic (urban of unknown affluency vs. suburban middle-class) appearance.
I'm willing to bet if a white kid was wearing the same clothes, spoke and acted the same way, and did the same things, the reaction would have probably been the same.
I am convinced that one of the biggest reasons we continue to see things tied back to racism is because the other motivators seem to get so much less airtime. Urban vs. suburban vs. rural ... upper vs. middle vs. lower income ... these difference seem, at least to me, to be more dramatic as of late, and CERTAINLY more divisive. -

It was late at night, and he was walking in between houses (not solely on the sidewalk).
If there was break ins in my gated community, and the description was younger black males, I might think something was suspicious to when I see a black male that I don't recognize, walking in between houses late at night.
It wasn't because trayvon was black that he followed him, it was because he matched description for previous suspects who had committed real crimes in the area.
Its an unfortunate situation that this couldn't be resolved in a peaceful manner between the two. But the evidence points to trayvon initiating the violence. Assault is a crime, following a suspicious individual is not. I fully believe Zimmerman acted solely in self defense. -

but it is about poverty...people bring up the chicago shootings every week. this is strictly about money. drug turf. drugs are a multibillion industry and for many people in severe poverty they see the opportunity to make millions and will kill to survive. its in every culture at different times where people kill for money/property/religion/freedom. this case to me seemed unnecessary..who in the hell does block watch in the early evening...who has a blockwatch with one member? seems to me he was driving by and saw TM and went from there. -

People talk about profiling but it's done thousands of times a day at airports and people don't see to have a problem with that. -
Gblockjust googled it..he got shot at 7 pm..pronounced dead at 730. absolutely not late at night and not suspicious at all to be on the street..how many breakins were at dinner time for most families??
