killer_ewokValley Wine Cellar finally got LH Nitro Milk Stout in so I grabbed a 6 of that, a 4-pack of GLB Doppel Rock and a bottle of the Stone-Fat Head-Bear Republic collabo TBA. I've had the Doppel Rock before but not the other two.

Mooney44CardsHas anyone had Sculpin by Ballast Point yet? Just started distributing in Ohio like 3 weeks ago, Hyde Park Kroger has a couple cases. I got a 6er, I'll let you guys know.

Got some yesterday; very good.Mooney44Cards;1125437 wrote:Has anyone had Sculpin by Ballast Point yet? Just started distributing in Ohio like 3 weeks ago, Hyde Park Kroger has a couple cases. I got a 6er, I'll let you guys know. -
Mooney44CardsGood lord Sculpin is good. It's actually very similar to White Rajah. I'm not sure if I can decide which is better, but I was pretty blown away by Sculpin.
-
BORIStheCrusherSo far I've had some Sculpin, Hoptimum, and two bottles of Duvel; at the tipsy line right now. I really like the Duvel tulip glass, will for sure be using that a lot. Not sure what I'm drinking next but heading to the fridge now...

SonofanumpBells Hopslam and DFH T'weasonal Ale tonight. Disappointed by both, just above average, each get a 11/20 score.

It was my palate being fucked up. I had a couple Hoptimums prior to the Old 21. I think the funkyness and bitterness of that made this taste super sweet last night.
It was my first beer tonight, well after some wine, and it does tastes totally different than last night. Going to grab another 1 or 3 that I have left. -
Commander of AwesomeFound a place on Friday that has Arrogant Bastard on tap, only $5 a pint as well. I was a happy man.

Mooney44CardsCan't believe I didn't mention this before, but any of you Cincinnati beer snobs, if you haven't been to Dutch's, you're missing out. That place has everything.

I looked over their website. I guess I'm lucky to have Jungle Jim's so close. I'd like to check out Dutch's, but it seems pricy. AleSmith Speedway Stout is $17.99 at Dutch's compared to $12.99 at the Jungle. Rochefort is $10.00 there compared to $5.99 at Jungle Jim's.Mooney44Cards;1128290 wrote:Can't believe I didn't mention this before, but any of you Cincinnati beer snobs, if you haven't been to Dutch's, you're missing out. Wow, just checked out their list. Pretty good selection but the prices are god awful, I'd have a hard time buying anything there.Curly J;1128397 wrote:I looked over their website. Commander of AwesomeYou are lucky curly to have a place so close. Beers are really expensive in my area, its hard to get a beer I want for under $8 and under $10 or $11 for a 6 pack.

It really sucks if you're in a rural area. You get a few good beers (mainly versions of mainstream good stuff, but not really microbrewery good) at the local stores, but if you want really good stuff, you have to travel 15 miles or so.Commander of Awesome;1129133 wrote:You are lucky curly to have a place so close. Early CuylerBought some Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale today at Giant Eagle, really pleased with my purchase. Smells like caramel, and the taste almost has a hint of molasses. Very nice.

Curly JSharing a KBS with The Wife right now. Damn !!! (this is after a room temp White Rajah) Still got two KBS left. I'm going to try to get two more tomorrow.

BORIStheCrusherDrinking Sam Adams Noble Pils and Nugget Nectar tonight; already have a nice buzz after 3 NN since I didn't really eat today. Put a Double Bastard in the fridge but we'll see about that. Parents were in Chicago today so I asked them to try and track down some Goose Island Bourbon County Stout but came up short, they even called the brewery but no luck.

Commander of AwesomeDouble Bastard is awesome, though I think bought all of them in the area. Can't find it anymore, suppose I'll have to wait til next year. I did see a 2010 Double Bastard that I considered buying, but wasn't sure how aging would effect it. Anyone have any insight? (It was being stored at room temp on a shelf in a store as well, making me even more leary.)

I would buy that shit.Commander of Awesome;1131416 wrote: I did see a 2010 Double Bastard that I considered buying, but wasn't sure how aging would effect it. Anyone have any insight? (It was being stored at room temp on a shelf in a store as well, making me even more leary.)
Most beers are meant to be drank fresh but a lot will age well, and sometimes taste better with time on them. Big beers like this should last at least a couple years. -
gerb131Saw a Sam Adams Red today. Any reviews on it?
Also my Giant Eagle has plenty of Double Bastard left. I can't drink them all. -

If a beer catches your eye pick it up and try it out, worst case is you don't like it. I know I've had it before but I can't tell you much so I'm guessing it didn't leave that much of an impression (good or bad) on me. Red Ales aren't one of my favorite styles though. As for the Double Bastard, if you can afford to I'd pick up a bottle or two and just put them on the shelf.gerb131;1131503 wrote:Saw a Sam Adams Red today. Any reviews on it?

Ditto !!! I believe I gave Justin a Double with some age on it. Not sure if he's had it yet. I'm still sitting on one or two myself.BORIStheCrusher;1131420 wrote:I would buy that shit.

Ditto as well !!! Reds are probably my least favorite Ales. It's always nice to do a Vertical tasting from year to another. The beer won't go 'bad', just different.BORIStheCrusher;1131521 wrote:If a beer catches your eye pick it up and try it out, worst case is you don't like it. I managed to pull off a 4 pack of KBS the other day so now a I have a couple or 4 to age...I've got too much shit ageing and need to drink some of the aged stuff. I guess that's a good thing to have.
Picked up some more Hoptimum, some Founders Double Trouble, Bells Oberon, DFH Palo Santo Marron, and a couple of others on Wednesday.
I'm having the Palo Santo as we speak. At first taste tonight I said "I forgot how great this beer is." The Wife had a sip and said the same. Then I realized I say that every fucking time I drink this beer. I guess I don't drink it often enough. Great on the nose, palate, and finish. For a 12% beer, it might be the the smoothest I've found. On the label describing it the last line says "We have wood. Now you do too." Yep I might even believe I touched mine after the first sip...and have continued since. I have to drink this more often...and maybe age some too.
Ahhh...Talking about ageing even more beer. [insert FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU FACE HERE] -

I hated it along with my fellow taster. We both thought that we just licked a fireplace.Curly J;1131587 wrote:I'm having the Palo Santo as we speak.
