Now for me, just got my daughter in bed. She better not wake up and disturb my drinking!DeyDurkie5;1118340 wrote:The question is when to start drinking -
DeyDurkie5Yeah i just poured my first beer.
-
Curly JI can't start until 10:30pm.
I went to the Jungle and got my Founders KBS. Limit one 12oz bottle per person and it was $5.29 for the bottle. I don't know whether to drink it or have sex with it at that price. Actually that is cheaper than the Rochefort 10 there. -
SonofanumpEstrella Galicia and Weihenstephaner tonight. Quality euro beers in honor of those awsome soccer playing turks.

Commander of AwesomeStone Pale Ale right now, not too shabby. Not the best Stone, but solid.

Stone considers their Pale Ale as their Flagship beer. -

Interesting, I wasn't aware. It's good, but I prefer their IPA or Arrogant Bastard.Curly J;1119367 wrote:Stone considers their Pale Ale as their Flagship beer.
I picked up a Rouge Dead Guy, Chipotle Ale, Chocolate Stout, and Irish Lager. I was pleased when I saw them because the were pretty cheap for the area at World Market. I'll post my opinions as I get through them.
I'm actually pretty intrigued by the Chipotle Ale, the guy at the store talked me into it. I'll probably try that tonight, anyone try any of these? -

Dead Guy is decent and Chocolate Stout is good, haven't had the others.Commander of Awesome;1119718 wrote:Interesting, I wasn't aware. It's good, but I prefer their IPA or Arrogant Bastard.

OneBuckeyeHad dead guy and chocolate stout long ago. Was not blown away by either, but I can hardly remember them as it was the only time I tried them.

As was I. I've heard Greg Koch say it on several occasions. I guess since it was the first beer they produced.Commander of Awesome;1119718 wrote:Interesting, I wasn't aware. It's good, but I prefer their IPA or Arrogant Bastard.

I'm off to my favorite Pub. Not sure what I'll have tonight. -
BORIStheCrusherPicked up a 4 pack of Sierra Nevada Hoptimum and having my first bottle now. This beer is very good, crazy hoppy, 10.4% ABV; reminds me a lot of Hopslam minus the honey flavor. I will for sure be picking up more.

DeyDurkie5rogue dead guy is probably my favorite draft beer of all time. so delicious
-
Curly JHaving a couple of Shoals Pale Ale on tap. Much better on tap than the bottle.
-
Commander of AwesomeEnded up grabbing a bite out tonight and the place had The Bruery / Elysian / Stone La Citrueille Celeste De Citracado on the menu. Thought it was good, not great. Pumpkin flavor was underwhelming, I was expected a stronger taste.

I tend to agree. It wasn't my favorite collaboration from Stone. In fact it might have been their worst I've had, but it wasn't horrible by any means. I guess it goes to show what we expect from Stone and the collaborations.Commander of Awesome;1119876 wrote:Ended up grabbing a bite out tonight and the place had The Bruery / Elysian / Stone La Citrueille Celeste De Citracado on the menu. Got home and had a couple of Nectars and a Flying Dog Coffee Imperial. Thinking about having another Imperial then calling it a night.
Oh and I did acquire two more Founders KBS today. Maybe I can get a couple more tomorrow to age. -
Commander of AwesomeCan anyone tell me the difference between a pale ale and an india pale ale? I've tried looking it up, but I havent found a satisfactory answer.
-
Curly JBasicially a pale ale is just that, a pale ale. The IPA style came along when Great Britain was shipping beer to India when they ruled. It was actually part of the daily rations for their Soldiers. The pale ale would go bad before reaching India, so they added more hops as a preservative to ensure it wouldn't go bad. That in turn gave it a different flavor than the pale ale resulting in an India Pale Ale, (Hoppier)
Al least that's what I've been told. I know Cool Story Bro !!! -

lol, ok so basically more hops. Got it, that's interesting. Reps for the answer. -
Commander of AwesomeHaving the Rogue Chipotle Ale right now. Its good, the spices leave a very unique after taste. Reminds me a bit of the way a chirstmas ale leaves a spice after taste.
-
iclfan2I had a Joe Porter in Pittsburgh the other day, it was a coffee porter and delicious. I'm debating buying the midwest supplies groupon to start home brewing and saw that they have a java stout on there website. I love coffee flavored beers for some reason.
-
I Wear PantsI would highly suggest getting into homebrewing. It's fun as hell.

It is a quite interesting beer. I've had it a few times, but it was years ago. And you know your question earlier, I had someone at the store ask me what an IPA was. He was looking for a 'non hoppy' beer for a friend who likes 'good' beer.Commander of Awesome;1120164 wrote:Having the Rogue Chipotle Ale right now. I picked up some Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout and some SN Hoptimum. I've never had the Hoptimum I believe. I also grabbed a Stone collaboration with Fat Head's and Bear Republic called TBA. 'Texas Brown Ale' brewed with brown sugar and molasses. Should be different. -
gerb131Smithwicks in the house.

Exactly !!! This tastes like the Hopslam two years ago in Jan of 2010. Really funky and musty when it was missing the Honey. Which was totally different than the Hopslam years before that I had. From the moment I smelled this beer I knew what it was going to taste like. I could go into a vivid description of why I'm liking this, and the Hopslam of 2010, but it would be totally weird in a homo kind of way...maybe later when I come out of the closet.BORIStheCrusher;1119730 wrote:Picked up a 4 pack of Sierra Nevada Hoptimum and having my first bottle now.
