Beer snob discussion thread

Commander of AwesomeBeen in Belgium the past few days, I've had some ridiculous beers while out here including numerous .rar Cantillons. Fou Foune steals the show, wouldn't/wont even see this in the states.

gerb131Columbus Ipa tonight

Go4alOngbOmBLancaster (PA) Brewing Company, Milk Stout, just came in my Beer of the month. It is a very nice full bodies stout, with (yes) a nice chocolate milk flavor to it. I would drink it again for sure!
-
sportchamppsI had some great beers tonight Sip of the Sunshine and Hopped in Half both were great but SOS is probably my favorite IPA I have had.
-
sportchamppsFinally had a treehouse beer. It was Haze and it was pretty damn good. I still think Death Tripper by Tired Hands and No Layups by Other Half were better.
-
GOONx19I think Bam Biere is my new favorite.

friendfromlowryThis is the time of year where I start getting anxious for Pumking.

IliketurtlesI will be traveling back up to Ohio next weekend and will be hoping to get some beers that aren't available to me here in Alabama. Anyone have any good recommendations on stores to go to? I wasn't a huge beer snob back when I lived in Ohio so I really don't know of any places. I will mostly be staying in NW Ohio and will just be traveling along I-75 and would like to not venture too far off that path.

Not sure where you are going, but Jungle Jim's always has a great selection. It's Cincy-area not far off I-75.Iliketurtles;1805783 wrote:I will be traveling back up to Ohio next weekend and will be hoping to get some beers that aren't available to me here in Alabama. Cool story bro: I'm not sure if Southern Tier dropped their MSRP of the Pumking 4-packs but the gas station down the street from me has been selling them for $7.99. -

I love Jungle Jim's. Like you, I haven't been in years (comes with not living anywhere near Ohio).friendfromlowry;1805808 wrote:I'm going there tomorrow night and pretty excited. Haven't been in a few years.

I need to go there someday. Everyone on here who has been there seems to recommend it.OSH;1805843 wrote:I love Jungle Jim's. Like you, I haven't been in years (comes with not living anywhere near Ohio).

Picked up SN Oktoberfest last weekend, awesome stuff. Along with Stone's Mocha IPA, which was interesting but wont be buying it again. -
Curly JI concur with Jungle Jim's. I live about 5 minutes away from it. I'm usually there 2 to 3 nights a week. It's also a great Pokémon stop if you are playing that game.

Curly JIn fact I'm going there in a little bit to their liquor store. They have 16 different beers on tap that you can drink in the store.
It's not to far off of I-75. Take 275 West once you are in Ohio, north of Cincy. Then take the Route 4 exit North. (About 3 miles from 75). You can't miss it as it a mile or 2 North on Route 4. Right hand side of the road.
I liked the Mocha IPA. Had it at Jungle Jim's BeerFest. Interesting beer. I liked it but couldn't drink a whole bomber of it.

BRFI was in Providence, RI, and had an interesting beer called Heretic Evil Cousin. It was described as "dank on purpose.....Big! Sticky! Aggressive!". I liked it.
Traveling back to CLE took us from RI to Chicago Midway, where I stopped in at a place called Dot Com. The Goose Island tap head caught my eye, as it was in the shape of an old black telephone receiver with 312 on it. I asked the bartender what the 312 was and before he could answer, the butt-in-ski next to me said, "it's an area code". I gave him the evil eye and said, "I know that, I was asking what kind of beer it was". Geez! -
saltoHave had a few of Chicago's finest the past few evenings.

Go Cubbies! -

Munchie Emporium for food and beer. Mad Anthony Brewery is in there, the beer is ok. Food is great.Sonofanump;1827655 wrote:Going to be in Ft. Wayne, best brewpub? Will also be eating, so need food.
If you want the one of the best selections of beer and very good bar food go to Trion Tavern in New Haven, Very close to Ft wayne and their beer selection is top notch.
