gerb131Went with left hand milk stout last night always solid

Curly JWent to Jungle Jim's Beer Fest last night and will be going back again tonight. The Wife is going through the list again to hit what we didn't get to try last night.
Stay away from the Shock Top Spiced Banana. It was the only dump of the night. Tasted like bruised bananas and spices. I only tried it since it was a friends 1000th check in on Untappd. He pretty much did it as a joke.
The Jungle Juiced Head Hunter from Fats Heads was legit. It was the first beer I tried last night and pretty much set the tone for the evening. -
Commander of AwesomeHa I thought you went on a bender from your untappd check ins!
-
Curly J
For some reason Untappd wont let me check in by locations. It was a lot of check ins, but The Wife would get 1 beer and I'd get a different beer at the stations. We would sample each others in order to try more beer. So cut that in half and that was the amount of samples I had.Commander of Awesome;1736353 wrote:Ha I thought you went on a bender from your untappd check ins!
Saturday night at the Beer Fest Brew Kettle brought a Zesty El Lupulo Libre. Infused with Habarnero, Lime, and Cilantro. This was excellent and was my only double dip of the night. The Hops came thru nice little citrus and spice in the finish, then the habaneros kicked in. Very nice balance with out being too hot. -
Fab4RunnerThe Sam Adams tour was really fun. We had a good guide and group. People were actually asking questions, etc. We also got to keep our tasting glasses, and then went to a bar nearby and got a free pint glass.

Sounds awesome! Glad it worked out for you.Fab4Runner;1736569 wrote:The Sam Adams tour was really fun. We had a good guide and group. People were actually asking questions, etc. We also got to keep our tasting glasses, and then went to a bar nearby and got a free pint glass. -
friendfromlowryI'm one of the douchebags who will gladly drink Pumking in July and I'm starting to crave it. Should be released in the next couple weeks. Liquor store not far from me still has some 2014 batch left. I'm debating going to get some to hold me over.

Fab4RunnerWe had some 12 Dogs of Christmas at the bar last night...it was delightful.
-
redstreak oneI am going to try my first Zombie Dust tomorrow.

Were you in Huntsville? That's where I currently live haha. But yes Straight to Ale does have some awesome ones. My favorites are the Lily Flagg Milk Stout, Unobtanium, and Laika. The best thing I love about them is they do free brewery tours on Saturday's. On top of that you get 4 tickets that you turn in and get 4 beers (full glasses) before/during/after the tour and each time to turn the ticket in you put it in a bucket and after the tour they draw out 1 or 2 and give away something of your choice (Hat, T-Shirt, Poster).gerb131;1732638 wrote:If you can get your hands on anything Straight to Ale from Huntsville Al you'll be very happy. Hammered 3 cases on vacation. The milk stout, the IPA and the German ale is amazing.
If you want some other great beers from this area check out stuff from Blue Pants Brewery(The best in this area IMO) and Rocket Republic has some good ones as well. -
I Wear PantsAny suggestions for breweries, brewpubs, or bars to visit in Cincinnati? Going there next week for a few days.

Dude let me know when you are going to be here. Love to meet you in personI Wear Pants;1741223 wrote:Any suggestions for breweries, brewpubs, or bars to visit in Cincinnati? Going there next week for a few days.
(PM me or put it on here)
Rivertown is great and close to me. They have done some nice upgrades to their brewery and the Sours Rule !!!
Rhinegeist is further away but a party atmosphere.
Fifty West. Even further away but great food and beer. I love their Sunday Brunch.
Blank Slate. No food there but great and different beer that push the envelope. At times they do have food trucks.
Mount Carmel. Great beers and nice relaxing location. The First Craft brewery in the Cincy area.
Madtree. Right of I-71. Nice beer and a Pizza Place built into it lately. And I mean Brick Oven Pizza type of pizza. A food truck made this their first location for a 'restaurant'.
Listerman/Triple Digit. It's nice cause it's two breweries in one place. More college like since it's close to Xavier U, and the drawback is it's close to Sherm's house...lol.
Not sure of the bar scene, but they all have a lot of local beers on tap.
Love to meet a fellow OC'er and beer snob. Hit me up. -

True...Listermann is close to me. But I'm probably just as close to Madtree.Curly J;1741255 wrote:Dude let me know when you are going to be here. Love to meet you in person

I'd be up for getting together, too IWP. Let me know when you're in town. Would be nice to get out and enjoy beer with fellow Beer Snobs instead of with my neighbors who think Bud Heavy is splurging.
Also, the new 16 Bit Barcade is worth checking out. The games are free if you're drinking. And they have a good selection of craft beers on tap. -

I was curious so I had to look it up. I'm 2.4 miles from Listermann and 2.5 miles from MadTree. Probably explains why those are my two favorite Cincinnati breweries.sherm03;1741276 wrote:True...Listermann is close to me. But I'm probably just as close to Madtree. -
Fab4RunnerMy fiancé and I visited my bro and SIL in Cincinnati last weekend. No brewery visits, but we had some delicious food and beers all around town.

Thanks! It was like 2.5 months ago. I don't even really like calling him that, lol. But he is my fiancé, so I guess I have to.sherm03;1741285 wrote:Congrats on the engagement! -
Commander of AwesomeI was talking to a girl in the office who said the same thing. She disliked it so much, she just kept calling him her BF. Had a buddy though who loved to to throw fiance around. We all knew his GF/fiance well and instead of referring to her by name, he would say fiance which was incredibly douchey.

Only other brewery that I'd recommend that Curly seemed to have left off is Taft's Ale House. It's in a bit of a sketchy neighborhood. But they pumped $9 million into renovating an old church and the place looks great. On top of that, the beers are damn good. It's a cool spot to check out if you have the time and if you're near downtown.I Wear Pants;1741223 wrote:Any suggestions for breweries, brewpubs, or bars to visit in Cincinnati? I mean, if it's to people who don't know her, I get calling her "my fiance." But if it's with friends who know her, yeah, it's definitely douchey.Commander of Awesome;1741296 wrote:I was talking to a girl in the office who said the same thing. OSHI hope to catch a brewery or two in Wisconsin in December.
I'm a Leinie fan, but it's a little farther away from where I'll be. Don't know if I want to spend 4 hours in a car on a short weekend (if we fly; if we drive, it may work well).
