If this is true, then they don't get worried about finding a coach. You should be able to pick up the phone and get anyone to listen.Classyposter58;1834670 wrote:Indiana is absolutely a blue blood program lol part of what makes them is their tradition
In my eyes, it's Kansas, Kentucky and North Carolina, who are a step above the rest. You can try to sell me on Duke, but it's going to be difficult for them to replace Coach K. After that, I put Indiana, UCLA and Duke much closer to the tier of best of the rest tier which could include another 10-15 programs, including the ones like Louisville, Ohio State, Texas, etc...the ones who might not have better tradition, but are right there financially or have a history of taking basketball very seriously and willing to spend. -
wildcats20Florida State continuing its stellar week. Down 18 at half to a bad Syracuse team.

Ironman92WVU good at home.

And what's Kentucky going to be when Calipari leaves? After Pitino left, they sort of gradually went down with Smith and were kind of trash with Gillispie. Or UNC, who fell off after Smith and rose back up with Williams. At some point, you're just splitting hairs because the programs you title elite can be just as suspect as those you're titling second-tier depending on who is currently coaching.Azubuike24;1834699 wrote:If this is true, then they don't get worried about finding a coach. Honestly when Cal leaves UK it will probably be sneaking out the back door when the NCAA investigators are coming in the front door. It's what he does.Heretic;1834717 wrote:And what's Kentucky going to be when Calipari leaves? After Pitino left, they sort of gradually went down with Smith and were kind of trash with Gillispie. Another great road performance. Tough turnaround from playing Thursday night, and then traveling to Miami, but this is awful.wildcats20;1834723 wrote:And Carolina down 17 on the road at Miami. Smh.
Started the game up 11-2, then trailed 39-22 at the half and it's only getting worse.
By the way, have you heard anything about Theo's foot/ankle? Seems like he's still being evaluated, according to what I read. -

He's in a boot. My guess is they aren't taking any risks. No need to right now.ironman02;1834729 wrote:Another great road performance. Tough turnaround from playing Thursday night, and then traveling to Miami, but this is awful.

His history of foot problems actually has me worried that it's not truly a precaution. Gotta wait and see though.wildcats20;1834731 wrote:He's in a boot. My guess is they aren't taking any risks. No need to right now.
Carolina has at least fought back a little bit in the 2nd half. Put this one behind them and get focused again for a brutal stretch of games to end the season. -
HereticLooking like a banner day in the ACC. FSU, UNC and ND lose to unranked opponents and Duke currently down 10 at the half to an unranked opponent.

Laley23JBJ is the latest Indiana player to be out. This team can't catch a break, to go along with not being very good, it's looking like a LOOOOONG couple of weeks to end the year.
-
Laley23
This is such a stupid take. It's not about getting a coach, it's about getting a good coach. Who out there do you see as someone who will be a top 10 program every year. In other words, a sure fire upgrade? They don't just grow on trees. You mentioned Collins and Miller, two guys who Indiana can probably get, and two guys who haven't proven anything really. Miller has had a nice run at Dayton, can he do it in the B1G, and can he do it with multiple classes??Azubuike24;1834699 wrote:If this is true, then they don't get worried about finding a coach. Azubuike24The problem is, Indiana hasn't found a good coach since Sampson left. Yeah, Pitino bolted, Tubby was okay, Gillispie was bad and then they hit a home run with Cal.
IU is over a decade removed from Sampson and what's the furthest they have gotten? The Sweet 16? Big difference.
UNC went through a similar lull after Dean Smith left. Guthridge and Doherty failed, it led to them being in position to getting Roy Williams.
Indiana had Dakich and Crean, and now it's time to hit their home run. That's all I'm saying. -
Azubuike24...and a true blueblood program, who is in desperate need of a big time hire, will get almost anyone not at a better job to listen. Both with money and with the allure of a top program.
If they can't get Gregg Marshall to listen, then I'm questioning just how blueblood they actually are. -
Laley23Indiana went straight from Sampson to Crean. Dakich took over end of year when Sampson was fired.
And I do think Marshal would listen and come here. I hope they make the change. My only point was that hitting that homerun isn't easy. Kentucky thought it had one with BCG. Not like it's guaranteed to be a homerun because it's the 3rd hire since the last great coach. -
friendfromlowryWe're in the thick of the "Gonzaga climbing up the rankings because their conference blows" part of the season.
-
wildcats20Except this year they are really good.

Azubuike24
The home run isn't easy. You just seemed to doubt that Marshall may not even listen. There are plenty of other guys who are greatly happy at their current school that IU should be able to at least talk to.Laley23;1834750 wrote:Indiana went straight from Sampson to Crean. Is it out of the realm of possibility that Mike Brey would listen? Frank Martin? Buzz Williams? Just throwing out names of guys who get paid well and are already happy at P5 schools. -

What's crazy? Their top 5 scorers were not playing last year.wildcats20;1834755 wrote:Except this year they are really good. -
vball10setWatching Virginia/Nova game, and I really like Gus & JJ commentating...should be a good 2nd half too.
-
friendfromlowryI can't stand Gus. But it is a good game. Villanova is always a fun watch.
