Ohio State Recruiting Thread

QuintThis is disappointing to hear. . . Williams and Louis are great recruits. . . to lose either will suck. Not to mention. . . if it is Louis, his twitter update about rooming with Seantrel Henderson will not come to fruition. . . or it may at a different school!
-
OneBuckeyeSomeone on buckeyeplanet.com says Braxton Miller will commit in the early summer and wants to recruit hard for OSU in the 2011 class. This would be great because we do not have a commit this year that really gets into recruiting other players and it has hurt us IMO. Florida has a few outgoing guys that get after it and it has paid off for them. Brewster also did it for us in his recruiting class.
-
dat dudeI really hope we do not lose Louis. For my money, he is the most explosive recruit this year and I was really looking forward to his time as a buckeye. Even with the depth at the position, this would be a big loss imo.
-
OneBuckeyeI don't think we lose Louis. I think Williams may be a non qualifier if Brown commits, or Corey Brown or Louis 2010 is going to play CB or Safety, because we do not need 4 WRs in this class.
From what I heard Sentrel Henderson was one point too low on his ACT for admissions to OSU and he has to retake it. So he is definately too low for Norte Dame and may or may not for USC and Florida. -

I could not agree with you more! The lack of a player out there recruiting other players did hurt. . . and if the Miller comment has any legitimacy, then I could not be happier.OneBuckeye wrote: Someone on buckeyeplanet.com says Braxton Miller will commit in the early summer and wants to recruit hard for OSU in the 2011 class. Henderson would have no problem getting into florida so long as his ACT score meets ncaa standards. The big 10 is forced to play by different academic rules than the sec/big12/pac10 teams and it flat out sucks. It's not like these kid's are going to go into molecular genetics or something. They are coming to play football and raise the profile of the college nationally.OneBuckeye wrote: I don't think we lose Louis. There are a couple kids Michigan would dearly like and that like Michigan but their act/gpa's will keep them out of Michigan. Demarr Dorsey is one of those kids. -
devil1197Louis isn't going anywhere unless he flat out lied to Tressel.
He said the only way he leaves OSU is the coaching staff decides to leave or call it quits lol.
Brown has been waiting for an offer, its nothing out of the ordinary. The scholarship total is floating around because 20 is not a set number. So don't think Brown is getting an offer because they feel like someone is leaving, they will have room for the guys they want.
Brown is 6'3 215 Rivals 4* recruit that was committed to UC so OSU didn't go after him. Once he backed out OSU was bound to offer him. -
j_crazydoes the 20 include the schollie vacated by thomas?
-
OneBuckeyeYes. It didn't floating. Pretty solid imo
-
devil1197Although I think they will take 20 or less, 20 is not a set number as of right now/
Tressel even has an in-home visit next week with Chaz Green. -
ironman02Would an in-home with Green and an offer to Brown mean that Hicks and James are definitely out of play? Seems like they would be saving room for Henderson and Bryant, with one other spot available. Or maybe they will take more than 20 somehow?
Maybe I'm just getting everything all jumbled in my mind. -
devil1197
Lol, no they are just going after any top recruits that are interested in OSU.ironman02 wrote: Would an in-home with Green and an offer to Brown mean that Hicks and James are definitely out of play? Green has had an offer from OSU for awhile so its not that huge of news with the in-home visit. He is a 4 star OT and the #6 player out of Florida.
OSU cannot wait for guys like James to drag out their recruiting process, they will explore their options with other top talent. I would be upset if OSU ignored Green and went all in with James only to see James go somewhere else while Green wanted to be a Buckeye after Kiffin bolted.
Same thing with Brown also. Why not offer an in state 4 star ATH who was just added to Rivals 250? Could we land Hicks, maybe but Tressel isn't going to sit on his hands and let Brown go somewhere else while waiting on Hicks.
So I don't see it as thinking were losing guys. OSU is being aggressive on good talent instead of waiting and possibly losing out on all of them. -
ironman02Makes sense. Thanks, devil1197.
Any news on Henderson lately? Is Bryant still saying that he will decide on the 25th (I think)? -
devil1197
Henderson's dad is very weird lol. Henderson named OSU at the top but then his dad said every team is neck and neck.ironman02 wrote: Makes sense. Thanks, devil1197.

Bryant should decide then imo. -
darbypitcher22its all weird and strange until the kid has his NLI sitting in front of him...
-
devil1197Yep, recruiting is weird.
Tressel has his in-home visit with Henderson coming up soon. -
OneBuckeyeLots of rumors about Louis decomitting and going to the Gators lately. Hope they aren't true but it could happen.
-
j_crazyI had heard the same thing.
-
Tiger2003I also heard Louis is gone....
-
OneBuckeye^ He is not gone, but he could be. Although no reliable sources have confirmed yet. There is also the rumor out there that is tried to commit to the Gators again... but was denied again for lack of space. So by no means is he gone. yet.
-
darbypitcher22Still don't get why all these guys wanna go play for Urban Meyer... I know this has been hashed and rehashed but after all the BS about 'I'm resigning, no I'm just taking a sabaticle, now I'm taking hardly any time off' I'd have a hard time respecting the guy

Did not mean he is gone, but like I have heard he is going to decomit....I heard it on 97.1 The Fan...OneBuckeye wrote: ^ He is not gone, but he could be. devil1197Nothing on the Front Row about it.
Florida dumped him for higher recruits and now I don't think they will have much room. -
OneBuckeyeI figured there wouldn't be mostly because the info about this situation isn't being said by any reliable sources. I think Louis will end up at OSU even if he wanted in at Florida because Florida does not have room.
-
darbypitcher22^^^^
If this happens what makes you think he won't end up wanting to transfer if he somehow gets buried on the depth chart and room opens up?
