CFP Rankings

I'm curious to see how the loss of J.T. Barrett will affet the Buckeyes ranking. Normally, You would think they would move up at least one spot with a solid win over rival Michigan and a Mississippi St. loss.. If they don't budge from #6, and Baylor jumps them, I think that'll be a pretty sure sign that they won't be playing for a national championship even with a win over Wisky.

This is my concern too. I've read where the selection committee (or whatever they call it) would take into account the loss of a "Heisman candidate QB" in their decision making. Have actually seen some of these "prognosticators" predicting exactly what you said....Baylor in the final four. I don't think it's as simple as some peoples "win and you're in" belief.

Agreed. I'll be pulling hard for GTech and Arizona (although as you guys know, I already would be). I have no idea what will happen if all top 6 teams win, but I do think if FSU or UO goes down we're in if we beat Wisco.

I would like to think the committee will reserve judgement on this. I won't be surprised either way. If Baylor jumps, I'll be pissed. They were lucky to get by a shitty TT team last week. TCU looked impressive in win over Texas. But if OSU wins over Wisky, I just can't see how they can leave them out. They will have as good/better resume' then TCU (and Baylor).

Yea, I can't see Baylor jumping OSU this week after barely beating TT. Not moving OSU up to 5 would be assuming that the team can't win with Cardale. I still think OSU is in with a win over Wisky. If you can beat the #11 ranked team in the country with your 3rd string QB, that makes you a pretty damn good "team"!

Baylor/TT was only close because Petty went out injured. Had he not been injured, that game would have continued to be a blowout.

    TT

Petty doesn't play defense and their defense couldn't stop TT.

    Serious Question...

If FSU struggles mightly, but wins by a FG or less, and OSU wins convincingly do you think FSU drops out of the playoffs?

It seems like the committee doesn't like FSU at all, and they are keeping them in the top 4 solely as a token gesture.
  • wildcats20
    No.

I just don't see it. Regardless of anything else, they will be the ONLY undefeated team in college football. That has to count for something.

The way I'm leaning as well, it should, but maybe they are trying to make a statement.

Surprised by these rankings. It now looks like someone in the top 4 will have to lose for OSU to get in. Not sure what TCU did to jump to 3rd.

I think it was more FSU looking average vs Florida.

Quite frankly I felt this was always the case...imo there was no way OSU would get into the playoff without someone losing.

Long says that OSU hasn't been affected by JT being injured. All comes down to Saturday.

    That is shocking to me.

KSU doesn't help us at all. Baylor is not a concern. Go Mizzou!

So apparently beating a mediocre at best Texas team is enough to catapult you 2 spots to #3 in the country over an undefeated team.
  • Rotinaj
    Apparently.

Not sure it was so much TCU as much as the committee is very luke warm with FSU. Unfortunately, besides Baylor possibly moving up over OSU, this was worst possible scenario that was unexpected. As many above have said, I think we now need a loss. May have been done on purpose honestly. Don't think they wanted to ding OSU with losing JT...this was an easy thing to do, moving up TCU to 3, knowing they don't play in a conference championship, thus making them comfortable to stay in top 4. Interesting to say the least...

if a one loss TCU can jump a undefeated FSU . Baylor that beat TCU can certainly jump OSU.
