MAC season chatter

Laley23I saw it and wondered what he meant, cause I say it was a 4 pt game at that time. Then I realized Akron had an 18 point lead. Lol, talk about a collapse.

ts1227At least when Ohio makes the tournament, they don't lose by 50?

slingshot4everGotta root for Toledo. Not sure the last time they were in the big dance.

You are correct. -

So you're saying OU has NEVER been blown out in the tourney?ts1227;1590705 wrote:At least when Ohio makes the tournament, they don't lose by 50?
In their last 6, Akron is 5-1 vs OU. Keep living in the past boys. OU won't be doing anything in the tournament for a long time. Cooper and Groce aren't walking back into the Convo anytime soon. -

I'll give Akron credit for being a force in the MAC the past 6 or 7 years. STILL Ball State and Ohio remain at the top of the MAC elite in the 30+ year history of the MAC tourney (see number of MAC tourney championships below).
Akron > OU.....oh yeah lol

Kent State 5

Eastern Michigan 4

HereticOhio dumped Jim Christian off on Boston College! Happy days!
Now go after a young up-and-comer who's hungry for success, even if success means he's just looking at the job as a stepping stone; not a middle-aged retread who'll take the program a step or two back. Like Christian. -

birddog23Has BGSU's Chris Jans hired his staff yet?

Classyposter58Wow the MAC getting some solid coaches this offseason
-
Devils AdvocateUnfortunately for the MAC, they are and will be a doormat conference because all of the coaches use them as a stepping stone.

I approve of this move.ts1227;1601641 wrote:Ohio hires Saul Phillips (NDSU) -

It's sort of a chicken-egg thing, really. They're the small-school conference in a region dominated by the B1G (which, depending on who you talk to, is either the best or second-best conference in the country right now), so they're never going to get the best players in the region. However, because it is a reasonably deep region as far as talent, a well-run school with an ambitious coach can bring in better-than-average talent for the average one-bid league's school.Devils Advocate;1601953 wrote:Unfortunately for the MAC, they are and will be a doormat conference because all of the coaches use them as a stepping stone.
But, of course, a coach like that will leave when the time is right to move on to bigger and better things because the ceiling for a MAC program only reaches so high. Having Kent in the Elite 8 in reasonably recent history and Ohio winning three games over two NCAA appearance in more recent history shows that it's possible to win in the league...it's just hard to retain success consistently, which makes it a great league for coaches looking to make an impact to get a big job while the iron is hot. -

This region is insanely deep. You've got Indiana and Ohio turning out tons of great players and then you throw in Detroit, Chicago, and Western PA and you have pretty good damn recruiting grounds for all levels. I mean look at Butler, small Horizon league school in the modern era that hit home runs on a lot of good young coaches and now competes in the Big EastHeretic;1602018 wrote:It's sort of a chicken-egg thing, really.
