HereticOhio will pretty much learn whether they're a pretender or a contender in the MAC over the next couple weeks, as their schedule is brutal. In a four game period, they have three on the road. Against Toledo (tonight), Buffalo and Akron (can't remember the order of those two).
If they do well in that four-game stretch, they'll be in solid position to get a top-two seed and bye to the tournament semis. Otherwise, they'll have their work cut out for them to get the auto bid. -
birddog23Lunardi has Toledo as a 12 seed....playing OSU. I would love for that potential matchup

Pick6EMU ran the train on Toledo today. Zips better practice some fucking zone.

Pick6Lets go Zips! Always enjoy a Akron/OU battle.

HereticI enjoyed the result of that OU/Akron battle. Much better than the first one. Although it's looking now like there's a good chance that both the top two seeds in the MAC tournament (who get byes to the semis) are going to be from the West, as both Toledo and WMU are two games better than Buffalo in the loss column and both OU and Akron are a half-game behind them or something like that.
-
HereticBig game tonight for Ohio at home with Buffalo. If they want a shot at getting a top 2 seed and bye to the semis, they pretty much need to win out. Buffalo's easily their toughest opponent, but it's not likely that'll happen due to (1) two of the four games being on the road AND (2) their wacky inconsistency.
At least the MAC tournament looks like it will be a lot more fun this year. Last year, it was essentially Ohio and Akron fighting to be champs and the rest of the conference fighting for the rights to lose to those two in the semis. There are five teams with legit chances of winning it this year with those two, Buffalo and the current #1 and #2 in Toledo and WMU. -
Enforcer#3 for the Bobcats needs investigated by the NCAA for point shaving or what ever it is called, Everytime We would close the gap to 3 on the next possession He would throw the ball away or have some kind of turnover, And OUs coach is a Jackass, Kellogg hit a 2 threes and another bucket back to back to back , and what does Je do?? Calls a timeout on the next possession and takes Kellogg out. Then burns his last timeout with 34 seconds and it cause them to have nothing when they had the ball looking to tie at the end
Greg Setty and John Smith had good games -
Pick6Looks like OU vs Akron round 3 tomorrow. Wouldn't want the conference tournament any other way!

SportsAndLadyOu Akron coming down to the wire

Azubuike24I remember when they used to actually cover the MAC Tournament on TV...in Ohio.

reclegend22Why the fuck is Fox Sports Ohio or Cincinnati not covering this?
I'd have an easier time finding that missing airplane than I am the MAC tournament. Not that I truly care, but it's ridiculous. The MAC has lost a customer because I am tired of searching for it. -

I cant believe more companies arent shelling out money to take TWCs feed of the games. Buckeye has for all the Toledo and BGSU games that they can patch into (aka, home games). They dont have the kind of money to actually take a feed without a hard wire though, and certainly not for games of out of market teams. But, the larger companies sure as shit do, and its surprising they havent...Azubuike24;1590100 wrote:I remember when they used to actually cover the MAC Tournament on TV...in Ohio. -

TWC gave them a shit ton of money for exclusive rights to their games. A few exceptions per year for the conference to opt out and have their game on a national feed (Saturdays title game will be one, as will the big football games).reclegend22;1590106 wrote:Why the fuck is Fox Sports Ohio or Cincinnati not covering this?

Is TWC pricing them out of reach? Those assholes have it so it is blacked out on ESPN3 in the MAC footprint, so it wouldn't surprise me.Laley23;1590107 wrote:I cant believe more companies arent shelling out money to take TWCs feed of the games. Azubuike24Lets face it, the Cavs and Blue Jackets (especially the CBJ) will draw more viewers. And we're talking a nobody franchise in the NHL...

Wow that is stupid. I wondered why when I finally found a MAC game listing on TV yesterday on my ESPN Full Court package (Dish Network), it was "Not Available."Laley23;1590108 wrote:TWC gave them a shit ton of money for exclusive rights to their games. Not the most loyal move on the MAC's part to do that to its fans IMO. I'm sure the conference is getting paid nicely, but it's certainly not what is best for the people who support the conference. -

I don't even know if Fox bid on the rights after they bought STO (who had the contract previously)reclegend22;1590113 wrote:Wow that is stupid. I wondered why when I finally found a MAC game listing on TV yesterday on my ESPN Full Court package (Dish Network), it was "Not Available."

But the conference has been catching a tremendous amount of shit over it during basketball season. It's not a huge deal during football season because they get basically 1 terrible Saturday game for 6 or 7 weeks, and ESPN still gets the November weekday games -
Laley23Its been bad for basketball, and now that I am no longer working the games as a freelancer for them since I took my full-time job, I can openly say how terrible it is.
They bid on the rights because Fox Sports thought they would get more viewers (and they are probably correct) just showing the FS1 feed on their localized FSN networks. TWC really was the only "network" who bid on the rights. I say "network" because the station is only available through TWC. The MAC, while it wouldve gotten a lot less money, shouldve accepted the split rights ESPN/FOX(FSN)/CBSSN/NBCSN were offering. I forget what it was exactly, but a combination between those networks wouldve been better for the fans and subsequently better for the exposure of the conference.
In their defense, the money was more than double...though I dont know an exact amount (its not what has been floating on the internet, either). -
Pick6well fuck.
