Ohio State Basketball Official Thread

For as mediocre as this year has been overall, at least they can say they went through the entire B1G schedule with no bad losses (ie: losses to bottom-dwellers; they do have blowout losses to good teams, but that's another kind of "bad"), which isn't something that most (or all) of the other teams in the conference can say.

A team like Alabama or Oregon State doesn't have the record, but has a better resume. If the Buckeyes can win one of the next 3, win a game in the B10 Tourney, they might hit the magic "20-win in the Big Ten" mark and get a look.

Where did you get 114 for sos? The rankings I saw had them at 60. Anyway I think 2 of the last 3 plus 1 in the big 10 tourney would give them a legit shot. If they only get 1 of the last 3 they would need a couple tourney wins to have any argument at all.

I was curious of that as well and you're right. It's 60-68 range.

Buike I love you man, but sometimes you just say shit that isn't even in the ballpark of being correct lol

Ken Pom has their current SOS as 84. I think it was 68 before Michigan lost to Maryland today.

And their OOC SOS as 260. Yikes.
  • wildcats20
    ESPN has them at 68

Either way they pretty much have to win 3 of the remaining 4 games(including 1 B1GT game).

    Not gonna happen, IMO.

I don't know for sure, but I think the committee uses KenPom and Sagarin. Maybe 1 more as well.

No way they win 2 of next 3, like zero chance.
I've been saying I think playing in the NIT and getting probably 2 or more games is probably the better option.
Though I know that's never popular.

I was looking at KenPom. I was wrong either way though!

I used to be on this train of thought. Ive changed my tune though. I just don't think it's better. Don't get to play neutral tournament arenas, unless you make it all the way. Players, IMO, don't take it as seriously. Overall, even in a round 1 loss, I feel the players get more out of the NCAAs and there is more to build on when you make it. Even if you win the NIT.

Last time osu made the NIT and won it, it translated very well.

By losing to Siena the next year in the first round?

They went 22-11, finished in a tie for 4th in leage and lost in the 1st round as an 8 seed. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm pretty much the exact opposite of you on that statement.
  • Midstate01
Crap, I should have looked first. I swore the next year was when they went 34-3. My fault. I'd be in favor of ncaa if they made the first 4. I'm not really against the ncaa, of course, just like them practicing as long as possible.

Mentally I think you're for sure right.

That was another reason I used to like the NIT. But, unless you win the first game, which in the NIT is always a crapshoot because players don't wanna be there and fans don't show up, you actually get less practice time cause the games are before the NCAAs.
  • Laley23
Also, they went 34-3 3 years after the NIT.

Welp, that'll end all talk of potentially playing their way onto the bubble if he's gone.

Awful call..not sure how you take 10 minutes reviewing it and get it wrong.
