College Basketball Random Chatter 2013-2014 Season

That's such a random article to post anyway.

Nothing about those comments is even remotely newsworthy. It was a coach advocating for his conference. People who do not like K will read into it what they will. That's life and I am completely uninterested in talking about it.

I just now read the article, I was curious your thoughts.

I don't hate Coach K lol just thought his comments came off douchy. Hating on another conference to "improve" yours in the minds of people.

Did that much change in 20 days?

You'll be happy to know I have Duke in my Final Four, Rec. If I hated K, they'd be out first round :D

Don't most conferences have 1 really good team and a good amount of good teams?

    Syracuse, Duke, UNC, Pitt
Michigan State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio State
Iowa State, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas State

One of those 3 is clearly weaker than the others in my opinion. It's depth comes from the next tier (WVU, Baylor, Oklahoma State) being better than what other conferences have in the 6-8 spots, but none of them are on Kansas' level.

You might be the first person I have seen other than cc. Lol. Thanks for the positive vibes.

At the top? No. Although Syracuse turning into a team of Ira Newbles didn't help. Overall the ACC was never close to being the best conference.

Texas and Kansas State ended up as 7 and 9 seeds. I think the "not impressed with anyone outside of Kansas and Iowa State" comment that I made still makes a lot of sense.

    I wasn't referencing you or S&L.

I was just pointing out the apparent and dramatic tune change by Wildcats regarding the ACC.

I said you could make a case, yes.

You said the ACC was the best conference. I said no, no it wasn't.

I was just going to mention the ACC. An argument could definitely be made for it [being the top conference].

    FWIW.

You seemed to rather emphatically imply that there was no case at all, but perhaps I just mistook your tone.

Buzz Williams is leaving Marquette to take the Virginia Tech job. Why? I have no idea.
  • Azubuike24
Marquette no longer has the Big East to help them. Any ACC job is better than Marquette...
  • Laley23
ACC > Big East. I'd say good move. Easier to recruit as well.

Plus, another down year and he might've been fired anyway. He got 7 years out of the disaster this season lol.
  • wildcats20
Yeah, I was thinking about the Big East being a high school league

Wake Forest also fired Jeff Bzdelik last night. Apparently Wake students almost burnt the quad down in celebration. Wake has great potential, and with the right coach could compete for national titles every now and then. It wasn't too long ago that Wake was the No. 1 team in the country (2009).

I always felt that, had he not passed away, Skip Prosser would've taken Wake to some Final Fours. The ACC took a big hit when he died.

    Technically he resigned.

So he had two options, and they were both not to return.

I am excited to see whom Wake lands. If Ron Wellman plays his cards right (he won't), the Demon Deacons could land a pretty good coach. This is pure conjecture, but perhaps someone like Greg Marshall even. As Louisville gets set to join next season, the allure of the ACC only grows and Wake has the potential to return as a national power.

Hell, even this guy is interested:

The above article, BTW, is in reference to Jim Calhoun's apparent interest in the Boston College job (yes, the one from UConn). Not sure what to think of that.

Apparently it's already out that BC has no interest in him lol.

Will Travis Ford get the boot?
  • SportsAndLady
He should..1-4 in the NCAA's, and so much talent in Stillwater.

Calhoun is like 75 and needed to replace half his body parts after tipping over on a bicycle a couple of years ago. B.C. would be crazy to hire a liability like that instead of starting afresh. Good decision. I don't want that asshole in the ACC.

Word on the street is that T.Boone is going after Bill Self again. If not him, then Phil Jackson.
