    The choice is obvious.
Those teams had Groce, the OU teams moving forward do not...'nuff said.

I...do not have a reply to this. Other than sitting alone in a dark room and eating cookie dough right from the container for, say, the next six hours straight.

    Oh, that's right, coaches aren't relevant...sorry.

The conversation was B1G transfers doing well at ou compared to Toledo, not B1G transfers and John groce doing well at ou compared to Toledo.

and what (or who) do you think played a big part in these transfers doing well at OU as compared to Toledo?

One could also say those transfers and their performance is why Groce is employed at Illinois now, too.

Okay so were arguing two different things, gotcha.

I think the biggest reason is Bassett >>>>>>> Offut>>>Weatherspoon.

OU got by far the best player in the deal, as well as the 2nd best. lol

Xavier has done the best, though, not in the MAC. Jordon Crawford alone stole the NCAA Tourney the year they had 87 OTs with KST.

Bassett, yes...Offut? maybe, but we'll see what next season brings

Its probably that Coach K (cant spell his name) is a more guard offense oriented guy, so Weatherspoon had to play in the post a lot at 6-6. Next year hopefully Lauf can play more minutes and JD wont have to bang inside as much. I feel like he will be much better out on the wing making cuts and getting O-boards. Just doesnt have much of a post up game.

Wichita St. will be playing Memphis as part of the ESPN Tip Off Marathon next year...................in North Dakota.

Greg Marshall's response as to why...."They’re paying us both a lot of money to be there." This according to Gary Parrish.

^I believe they are playing at the same, brand-new (this year) arena that Wisconsin and St. John's played at last November. In Sioux Falls, I believe. It's an awesome throwback arena.

It made sense for Wisconsin (geographically, sort of). I guess ESPN is turning this into an annual event similar to the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic in Springfield, Mass.

What do you think about these comments by Coach K, rec?
The NCAA tournament may welcome schools of all sizes, but that doesn’t mean they’re all held in the same regard.Take the comments of Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski on Saturday: “I’ll get in trouble probably for saying it. like the Atlantic 10, they’re a really good conference,” Krzyzewksi said. “I hear people saying there are six teams in there. Come on. I mean, they’re good, but put them in our conference and go through the meat grinder that our conference has to go through.”
His remarks didn’t sit well with Shaka Smart, whose 26-8 Virginia Commonwealth team earned an at-large bid to the tournament after losing in the A-10 title game against St. Joseph’s. Massachusetts, Saint Louis, George Washington and Dayton also earned at-large bids.
“First of all, comparing your own league to someone else’s league is like me saying that my daughter is cuter than your daughter,” Smart said (via ESPN). “There’s a level of bias that comes into play that you shouldn’t even make those comments. Secondly, coaches are too busy to be an authority on someone else’s conference.
“I know our league really well because we’ve been in our league preparing for our league, but I don’t know much about anyone else’s league beyond the teams we’ve played in non-conference play.”
It isn’t as if Smart’s teams haven’t made noise in the tournament. VCU went to the Final Four two years ago and to the third round last year.
“You kind of want to stand up for your league,” he said, “… a lot of this league solidarity, like a Duke guy standing up for N.C. State, that’s all self-serving too. Let’s be honest. ‘Our league is great because it’s our league.’ It’s a lot of that. Let’s just have a level of respect for each other and let’s respect the nine people on the selection committee and the work they put into to picking the 68 teams.”
In case you’re wondering Duke and VCU wouldn’t play one another this year until the championship game.

IMO, this is pretty classless of K. It's okay to talk about your conference in a positive light, but don't degrade another conference while doing it. Especially when you're the 5th ranked conference in the country (RPI).

I am perfectly fine with Coach K advocating on behalf of his conference. Is it not true that the ACC is more of a grind than the Atlantic 10? I certainly don't think so.

In reality, all K said is that he thinks the Atlantic 10 is a really good conference, but not deserving of more NCAA teams than the ACC (his comments were in reference to N.C. State being, at the time, left out of Joe Lunardi's bracket while St. Joe's was in).

I liked Smart's comment, "'Our league is great because it's our league'"

That's all K was doing. He wasn't actually advocating for his conference, he was degrading the A-10 to make his conference look better.
  • reclegend22
    No he wasn't.

And the ACC was arguably the best league in the nation. So he had a great point.

Coach K has always came off as a douche, this backs that perception up

The ACC was arguably better than the A-10, but the best conference in the country? No.

Lol, I don't know what that chart is but there is no way the ACC was the 5th best conference in the country this season. I hope you don't actually believe that.

As far as having the best collection of teams at the top, it certainly has a case.

I'll take Virginia, Duke, Syracuse and North Carolina against anything any other conference has to offer 1 through 4.
