College Basketball Random Chatter 2013-2014 Season

reclegend22The run-and-gun Bearcats nearly drop a hundred on Memphis in their drubbing of the Tigers tonight. Final was 97-81.
Sean Kilpatrick finishes with 34. He's scored 25+ in six of his last nine games. Is there a more valuable player on any contending team in America? I don't think so. -
Laley23Id say McDermott would be right there also, if you consider Creighton a contender.
-

McDermott's obviously right there as well. Agreed. Creighton has a somewhat better supporting cast of complimentary shooters and such than does Cincinnati, but it's very close when you look at the numbers. Cincy's next five highest scorers per game: 11, 7, 6, 5, 5. Creighton's: 10, 7, 7, 7, 7.Laley23;1587698 wrote:Id say McDermott would be right there also, if you consider Creighton a contender.
You could make a great case for either being the most important player to any one team in the country. -

Maybe one of the worst calls I have ever seen. This play has been around forever and every official(except this one) knows what is coming. Should never be called unless the guy absolutely/purposely ploys the guy over. Ridiculous.Azubuike24;1587634 wrote:BS or not? Down 2 with 0.6 seconds left, Oakland sends Travis Bader, a 90% FT shooter to set a "screen" on an oblivious guy guarding the inbound. He made 2 FT's. They won in OT. Advanced to the quarterfinals. -

Too bad one of the Hawaii bench players didn't lay this idiot out--what a dolt.

Apparently the coach advised the refs to watch for the play earlier in the game.centralbucksfan;1587757 wrote:Maybe one of the worst calls I have ever seen. There's too much contact there to make a no-call, and with the game being an elimination game on Oakland's home court, it puts all the pressure on the refs to make the favorable call.
It's a bad call, but it's also a genius move by the Oakland coach. He exploited the fact that refs are humans with flaws and emotions.
They probably lose to Wright State anyway...but because of this genius call, I'm rooting for them to make the dance! -

There is nothing more dangerous than a serious brah. Apparently Santa Barbara basketball is important as fuck.
The shot above is by far my favorite part of the whole incident, where he actually challenges the Hawaii player to engage in combat. Lulz. -
reclegend22In other news, there appears to be legs to NBA commissioner Adam Silver's campaign to raise the League's minimum age requirement to 20. Some NBA sources think it could happen within a year. As a college basketball fan, I openly welcome the change and hope it happens. Unfortunately, even if it happens within a year, it is a year too late for fans of Duke and Kansas.
-
MulvaAnyone see the Desi Washington craziness? Three game winning, buzzer beating 3 pointers against the same opponent this year.

Too much contact to not make a call? BS. The guy flopped. Its a no call. No advantaged gained either way. Its only genius because the idiot official called it. That play has been around for ages. Its a common play used quite often at all levels. Official absolutely blew it by blowing the whistle.Azubuike24;1587816 wrote:Apparently the coach advised the refs to watch for the play earlier in the game.

Ironman92This common play used at all levels is a bit much. I have seen hundreds and hundreds of high school, college and NBA games and have seen it 1 other time.
Common play? Lol -
Laley23There is no way thats a no call. But, its a foul on Bader, easily. There is also no way that is a common play.
-
SportsAndLadyCommon play lol show me one other clip where that happens.
-
MulvaFlorida plays so damn well as a team.
-
Azubuike24The anti-thesis of Kentucky. Ball movement, passing, shot selection, basketball IQ. All lacking.
A staggering stat? The Gators have a top 10 player in Patric Young, dominating 2 Freshman (Randle, Johnson) on his SENIOR day. Florida has two top 10 players, both Freshman, Kasey Hill and Chris Walker, who BARELY PLAY, while Kentucky's Freshman have played all but 17 minutes of this first half. -
SportsAndLadyKansas getting rocked by the mountaineers, who have beaten some good teams in Morgantown.
Say goodbye to the 1 seed if they lose this. -
Midstate0116:05 to go Kansas has no timeouts left. Crazy.
-
MulvaNaadir Tharpe 0/3, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 1 turnover, and pathetic defense. Point guard play continues to be the 1 reason I can't get fully behind Kansas.
-
reclegend22Wiggins with a hell of a game. 31 so far. It's almost a quiet 31 too because of how smooth his game is. He doesn't look like he even cares lol. Very much like Tracy McGrady in that respect (that lazy eye just put opponents to sleep).

Agreed about pg play and ku. Tharpe is the most important player on their team. When he's on, they're very tough to beat.Mulva;1588046 wrote:Naadir Tharpe 0/3, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 1 turnover, and pathetic defense. Point guard play continues to be the 1 reason I can't get fully behind Kansas. -
Midstate01Kansas got it to 10 and had a chance to get it to 8 but a missed contested layup by Wiggins(close to a foul), and then Wiggins picked up his 4th foul and had to go to bench and WV got it back to 15.
-
Midstate01Wiggins has 39 now. Finally what I've been waiting to see!!
-
reclegend22Wiggins now with 39 of Kansas' 73. Crazy that they're still down 12.
-
Mulva5 point game. Hory crap.
