College Basketball Random Chatter 2013-2014 Season

Oh God, how dare someone smoke weed.

Also, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Roy called the cops on him.

He hired the guy on his staff.

I mean, this is a stupid thing and it's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but I mean, come the fuck on? Graves is a complete bum who was trouble when he was a player.

Also, smoking weed isn't a big deal. It happens on every campus. Athletes do it all the time (at least some). However, you're a straight up moron if you get caught like this.

It's not so much this one isolated incident. It's become a pattern of problems lately with UNC and has involved multiple individuals within the program.

Dean Smith has to be sickened by what he's seeing. All I am saying.

Dean is still alive and Roy is his boy...I doubt he'd ever say anything publicly.

GRIII is doing work on Arizona. 16 points on 7/7 shooting in the first half.

Inwardly, however, it's probably a different story. This is the fourth public "incident" at North Carolina within the last couple of years (dating back to the fake classes for athletes debacle), and third involving this year's current players/staff (Hairston's drugs, weapon and reckless operation-related arrests/sports car situation and McDonald's UNC logo money-making scheme).

While not all of the incidents are all that serious on their own, when added up, they paint the program once known for its honorable "Carolina Way" in a very embarrassing light that I am sure does not leave Dean with a smile on his face.

Yet if you go on any Carolina forum or ask most of their fans, Kentucky and Duke (for some same and some different reasons) are the anti-thesis of what is "right" in college basketball. It's very comical.
  • reclegend22
Which makes going to any Carolina forum a delightful experience. Can't wait to drop by after UK wins today. They can go from we're national champs to let's murder our coach in a matter of about two hours, depending on the outcome of a given game.

    That was disappointing.

How in the hell did they lose that???

Even thought this team sits at 6-4, I think they'll have it together by March. They are still trying to figure each other out and get consistency.

Lack of a PG. Not gonna do it in March without that.

    Still my favorite UK/UNC moment.

The last triple is fucking nuts...at least 32-feet...

This. It cracks me up when they say "they won't miss Burke"...these fans are in complete denial.

I remember watching highlights of that game in a sports bar in Ann Arbor after watching Duke pummel Michigan. When finally getting to the last three, Scott Van Pelt said something like, "Good God, Tayshaun, you could win a car from there." That was great. I don't think even Prince had any idea where he was or what was going on. He was completely in a zone. Haven't seen anything like that since.

Yup. Burke could be a black hole at times. But he demanded so much attention on the floor, that alone made everyone else better. That and the fact that when they needed a basket, he got it done. He could make plays whenever needed. Not sure some people realize just how good he was.

You mean a scoring guard? Michigan has scorers. They need someone to run the offense. They'll be fine. Walton had a bad game today. I'm not worried.

I disagree with the "true PG." They might not have the PG play to win a title, but their lack of inside scoring AND depth is their weakness.

McGary has cost himself millions. The guy just isn't that good. He's what he showed 75% of last year. A big, lunky white guy who can't shoot and when you consider he is 21-years old and that he's MAYBE 6'8.5, he's not nearly what people were saying last March (top 10-15 pick).

I mean, LaVert and Stausksa are greatly improved. Irvin is going to be a very good player. They just simply don't have the talent on the inside. I mean, just look at the guys 6'8 and greater other top 25 teams can throw out there and UM has no chance in a traditional game.

Unless they tear up the B1G, getting absolutely nothing out of non-conference play is going to kill their seeding. Looking at the schedule, they could easily have 10 losses by the end of February.

    8 of their 10 games between 1/18 and 2/23 are Wisconsin x2, MSU x2, Iowa x2, @Indiana, and @OSU. That's brutal.

And on reputation and preseason ranking, they will still get in.

They may not have any quality wins and still get respect. Florida State is a decent win, but FSU will end up with 12+ losses themselves. Hell, they might have 5 losses in the non-conference alone.

The absolutely will have 10 losses. I would have predicted 8 before the season ended. They have one bad loss so far. But they went wire-to-wire with #1, and really should have won. Seeding will be the disadvantage for sure.

I agree with this. McGary is still getting into game shape (23 minutes today), so I don't necessarily agree about that part. But beyond that, Michigan is not good inside. They (whole team) don't play great defense. Rebounding is a concern, as it was last year.

Is Indiana serious right now? ND has been horrendous this year. Should've known that ND would play this way against the big state brother, but my god.
