I think he does. There's at least 5-7 NBA PG's I would take over Wall, but I agree with your overall assessment and comparison.Azubuike24;1551740 wrote:Wiggins reminds me of John Wall.
Incredible talent. Will end up having a hall of fame career. However, I am not confident that one day they will be the BEST in the sport, even though they have the gifts to do so.
Wall for his career (just turned 23) is averaging 17/8/5 thus far, and he doesn't have far to go to be at the very top of the league at the PG position. However, will he ever get to that point where he's THE BEST? For instance, Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, John Stockton, Patrick Ewing (close), Kevin Durant (thus far) all achieved that status, but never won a title. -
birddog23KU just got screwed on that one

If Wiggins continues to command the ball like he has in the second tonight, I wouldn't bet against you. He has looked extremely good in the second 20 minutes. Like Azu, I just don't understand why he doesn't do this all the time.If it weren't for some bad officiating here at the end, Kansas would have had a chance to get this game within a single possession with about a minute and a half left.SportsAndLady;1551748 wrote:Not at all worried about wiggins or Kansas. Come march, they'll be a 1-3 seed and a favorite to make the final four. -
Azubuike24How much of that is his persona, his perception and some of the intangibles of other PG's? Those are the things JW lacks. He's not the hardest worker and he rarely shows emotion.
Numbers wise, are there really 7 PG's better? Paul. Curry (if you consider him a true PG), Westbrook (if he's a true PG), Irving (if he's a true PG)?
Wall can still dominate a game by scoring 6 points and taking 8 shots. I'd put a healthy Rajon Rondo ahead of him in the past, but not right now and going forward. -
Azubuike24S&L,
We saw a small glimpse of it from Wiggins. I've seen probably every KU game except 2 or 3, and it's the first time since the 3 possessions in the Duke game that I've seen it. -
SportsAndLadyLike I said...you don't know Bill Self's teams if you were thinking Wiggins would come out and put up Durant-like numbers.
Honestly, Self could have Lebron James on this KU team and Lebron would play unselfishly. It's just the way big time offensive players look in his offense.
Which is why I was so surprised Wiggins chose KU, to be honest. -

The only way AW was going to be able to run the show how he wants at all time would have been going to Florida State. Even in that offense though he wouldn't have.SportsAndLady;1551758 wrote:Like I said...you don't know Bill Self's teams if you were thinking Wiggins would come out and put up Durant-like numbers.

With that said, you need to have that in your back pocket if the game is in crunch time and you're facing a loss. -
Laley23I like how Classy said Aaron Gordon is the 3rd best freshman this year...Lulz.
-
Azubuike24Vonleh, Zack LaVine and James Young are doing as well as Gordon. He's good, but above Wiggins? Not close.

Laley23
Thank you. Id put Vonleh as #4 right now, but Wiggins is easily a top 3. Just cause he hasnt been Jordanesque through 8 games doesnt mean Aaron Gordon has been better lol.Azubuike24;1551790 wrote:Vonleh, Zack LaVine and James Young are doing as well as Gordon. Oh the dude is a monster, reminds me a lot of Blake Griffin. Parker just could not go inside at all on him, had to settle for jumpers, and Gordon was manning up on him during that time. Has incredible ball handling and passing skills for a 6'9" PF big man like thatLaley23;1551788 wrote:I like how Classy said Aaron Gordon is the 3rd best freshman this year...Lulz. -
Laley23Watch Andrew Wiggins some more please. Without the blinders on from his hype making you think he is not as good as Gordon.
Also, Noah Vonleh, frankly, has way better numbers in way less minutes played.
I watch a shit ton of college basketball. Aaron Gordon is at best, the #5 freshman right now. -
birddog23Part of Aaron Gordon's so called "greatness" is due to ESPN always including him when they talk Wiggins, Parker, & Randle. It is annoying.
-
centralbucksfanWiggins is a stud, no question about it. BUT, his mental aspect of the game is lacking. Which has always been the knock on him coming out of HS. Its easy to do what he did last nite when you are already down 20+ points. His consistancy and lack of effort at times when his team really needs it, need to improve. That being said, season and his career are just getting started. We'll see how this pans out. I'll only say that mental aspect is something that is not so coachable. That is on him. Some guys have it, some don't.

Yeah, I think the thing for Wiggins and his teammates will mainly just be getting comfortable with each other to the point where turning on a switch is more of an effortless thing. Like last night, it didn't happen early and Kansas got buried and had to play catch-up from way back. He turned on the switch, but they were able to fight out of it.SportsAndLady;1551758 wrote:Like I said...you don't know Bill Self's teams if you were thinking Wiggins would come out and put up Durant-like numbers.

As the season goes along, they'll get better and better at it (at least in theory) and wind up being one of the primary contenders entering the NCAA tournament. -
Laley23I think last night will be a springboard for him. First time he probably realized hat he can do what he wants on the court, even on the road versus a top program. His confidence, despite a loss, is probably as high as it's we been.

Azubuike24Shot of the year thus far?

Laley23The best part is the guys on his team just jump stop, turn, and then run back on defense.

I see me doing the same thing. Especially if the weather is as promised and cancels anything I might otherwise be doing. And by "cancels" I mean, "make it so I just don't fuckin' feel like cleaning off my car and venturing out of my driveway".Mulva;1552897 wrote:I'm going to spend way too much time watching basketball tomorrow.

Florida could be in the elite conversation if Chris Walker is anything close to what some of the other Freshman have been. All considering, I would have put him right there with Vonleh and Gordon coming into the season.
