B1G 2012

    Nebraska wins.

Gophers have to win the B1G Tourny now.
  • Laley23
That loss kills Minny. After the IU win I thought they were a lock.
  • gorocks99
Gophers are still probably a lock with their RPI and SOS. But Tubby should still get canned.

If you mean to make the NCAA tournament, then no. They were probably sitting in 5-6 seed range before tonight.

Lunardi had them as a 10 in his bracket from yesterday. They very well could lose to Purdue on Saturday also.

He was on the way low end though with that. Another 54 brackets yesterday had them 8 our higher.

Even if that happens they still wouldn't need an auto bid.
  • Laley23
This loss will put them lower. Still comfortably in, but loss their next 2 and Id say see ya. I could see that happening also, the way they are playing.

Even then, iffy. They might be last four in, but the bubble is shit this year

    I disagree, but whatever.

Probably true. Most years, they would be in serious peril...This year, probably a top 10 at large selection lol.

Even if they lose out they'll probably be in the 30's in RPI with a top 10 SOS and 5 top 50 wins. They won't get left out.

They would finish in a 3 way tie for 7th B1G if they lose to Purdue on Saturday, Iowa wins and Illinois loses. Which I think we all can say is a fairly safe bet(the last 2).

I just don't think it is a given they are in with a loss Saturday.

There's a pretty big middle ground between losing out and winning the B1G tourney.

Example: A loss in the B1G finals would add 3 more wins (2 top 50) to their resume. They might not be able to afford losing out. They definitely don't need to win out.

    Minn is in. Book it.

    Never said they had to.

But with a loss on Saturday, I think they have to win the B1G tournament to get in.

So Iowa would be in as well right? Seeing as they could finish above Minnesota in the toughest conference in America.

An Iowa win and a Minny loss means Iowa sits at 8-8 and in solo 6th.

Their non-conference SOS is like 300. No.

Edit: Just looked ... it was 310.

And yes, I realize it isn't all about standings.

    SMH

Never in the history of college basketball has a team finished 6th in the conference and out of the tourney, and a team finish 7th in the conference and in the tourney..right wildcats?

    Where did I say that?

By bringing up the fact that Iowa must be in the tourney since they're going to finish higher in the conference

All I'm saying is that if Minny loses to Purdue, I think they have to win the B1G Tourny to get in. Just my opinion.

    Based on what though?

I can make baseless opinions too...Kansas has to win out or they won't be a 1 seed. Same with Indiana. It's just wrong; and based on nothing.

    I know you can.
