Wisconsin is a given. They always play MSU well and usually play OSU well. Never play Iowa or Minny well and Illinois they suck on the road and are awesome at home.

If I had to have made a list of Ls before the year. Wisconsin, Minny and Illinois along with Michigan would have been the 4 I picked. I would have said Iowa, but we got them on NYE without any students, which helped (they still sucked that game). For some reason I was very confident before the year and before the game of MSU and OSU as well as all home games minue Wisconsin.

I never expected to lose to Butler this year.
Yeah, as you say, when you have followed your team as closely as you guys have Indiana and me Duke, you know your team's strengths and weakness so well that losses are -- oddly -- not even at all surprising. I mean they are still disappointing, but you are weirdly braced for it by this time in your time as a fan. When I was younger, a loss would devastate me for days. But I've just become more cynical over the years and do a better job of preparing for it.

Now, obviously with the slightly more trying situation Indiana was in for several years, you are probably completely immune to a loss or two. I'm not looking forward to the day that happens to Duke. When Coach K retires, I'm gonna lose my mind.

Exactly.

And you are right on with IU. They have been so bad, that I cant even get made at them anymore. I knew they would be good this year, and I thought they were the best team in America (still do), but no matter what happens this year has been awesome. What a great turnaround, and I am so happy for the SRs (Hulls, Watford, Elston and Creek) who get to be a part of it. They are the first 4 guys in NCAA history to be a part of a 20 loss team and the #1 team. I truly expected last year to be this year. Never thought 2 years ago we would be the projected #1 overall seed.

So yes, tonight sucked. But perspective is great, and coupled with my anticipation of the loss, I really am over it within 5 minutes lol.

He predicted IU to lose to Purdue...a game in which I could take 5 strategic shits and those 5 turds would have put up a better fight than what Purdue did.

Thavoice is a joke

Did I project them to lose to PUrdue? I do not remember but I do know that some others did and I remember after the fact talking about how I could see how some may pick that upset but the PUr/IU rivalry is so big that you dont usually fall into a trap in that game. I may have predcited a loss there....do not remember.

The reason I said that about last night is simple. I have been an IU fan since the early 80's. I remember vaguely the '81 championship, and vividly and sitll hve the recordings of the '87 title, and know that Minnesota is always a very tough place to play. I dont have numbers to back up my claims, and I know IU has worse records at places like MSU and a streak at UofI, but it seems like the HOosiers have been UPSET more often on the road at Minny then any other place in the BigTen. As a kid I always blamed it on that damned floor being too high and BK not able to stand up and pace the sidelines as much.
Just a very diff place to play. You could tell early on that it was goin to be tough. Zeller struggles against big, physical guys on the inside.
It is what it is....and I wont fret on this loss (i would rather NOT be #1 anyways) unless they start to have a slide. They were playing some veyr good ball and lets hope it is just a blip on the radar an dthat their best ball is left to play.

I have to echo your setiments, mostly. When the talk was they were going to be #1 in the preseason I didnt believe it. I dont know if it was because of their recent history or just i thought they werent going to be the best. I was skeptical all season long until the stretch that they went to OSU and MSU and won. Most teams have a little slide when they dont lay well and we dont need that to be a the end of the season.

Did Sheehey flop last night - and worse, was he instructed to do so?

The play in question:

The timeout prior to the play:

Tough to say but I'm not sure. I'd like to think Crean wouldn't do that.

I think it more has to do with that the players know how to play the game now with the elbows up above the shoulders AND that HeShee is a dick.

hmmmmmmm.....
• thavoice
...almost like in hockey when a player makes it know when there is contact above the shoulders wiht the stick. There was contact to his face here...but nothing to warrant a foul. I doubt any other player would have acted like that but he is just a prissy drama queen.
• Fly4Fun
Eh, could have been a flop but nothing definitive.

But I never saw the IU/MSU game so I didn't know about the Zeller/Nix incident. Zeller is dirty as hell from the video regarding that (the initial groin shot) then grabbing Nix's arm to make it look like he was giving him a groin shot.

I respected IU and what they have done this season, but shit like that is uncalled for. IU is starting to get a bad reputation.

The initial groin shot was totally inadvertant on his drive to the hoop. The second part......at the time I was mad that they stopped the game for that and then ended up not calling a foul. Either call a foul and look for flagrant or not at all. Dont stop play to check and then nothing. I have heard today that it looked like Zeller initiated it....now I saw the replay so many times during that MSU game and not once did it seem like he tried to get the MSU guy to hit him there.

Watch the replay here.
• Fly4Fun
Zeller clearly has a hold on his arm and Nix's hand is completely loose and hanging while Zeller brings it to his own body.
• Laley23
You think Zeller hit Nix on the initial groin shot?? LOL. He was driving to the basket. I have no clue what you are talking about.

First off I dont see that video on the link provided.

Secondly, they showed the replay many times when it was getting reviewed and there was no mention or thought of it being Zeller's fault. I found the replay and still do not think at all that Zeller pulled down his arm/wrist to initiate it.

Some people are just plain stupid

It seemed to me that Crean was trying to hide from the camera while instructing his player to do exactly what Sheehey did...........Some would call it gamesmanship others would have another definition.

HIde from the camera? He was in the huddle, on his knees as his players are on the little chairs, just like he normally is on TOs when his players are sitting and especiall when it is loud.

There are enough faults of everyone that people dont really need to go overboard and nitppick. Want to call Crean a whiner? Go right ahead, but to see things that are justnot there (hiding from the camera...come on) are just reaching.

I wouldn't put it past Crean, but the same could prolly be said for a lot of other coaches as well. As far as Sheehy's concerned, I think he's a clown to begin with, so nothing he did/does surprises me.

I imagine alot of coaches, especially now, bring up the fact that if someone makes contact to your face that you make sure it is known. Not unlike a baseball coach telling a baserunner that if you get into a rundown and the defender makes contact with you without the ball make sure the umpire gets the jist of what happened.
I am not a fan of all these replays. I am ok with clock issues, if it is a 3 or not and if the shot was off in time. If it truly is a flagrant foul then it should be enough to be seen in live action. That is just my opinion.

Ive been a fan of IU my whole life and yeah, I agree that Sheehee is a clown. I am not one of those fans who blindly agree with everything their players/coaches do so when a guy acts like a clown I will call him out on it. Dont get me wrong...he is a valuable asset to this team and COULD be just enough to propell them off the bench to win it all. His antics and actions tho........nah...I dont particularly like.

I will give Crean the benefit of the doubt. I admit I do not know his sideline coaching habits. I know he started on the chair and then went to his knees and I saw his elbows moving. I guess I made an assumption that was not true. My apologies.

Michigan blew a 15 point lead to Penn State in 6 minutes. Tie game with 4:23 to go.

Typical B1G officiating. It sucks. LOL

*no, not an excuse. I don't know what a block and charge is anymore after watching B1G games.
• gorocks99
Figured this would be tight. PSU playing a lot better as of late
• reclegend22
Michigan's players might as well start waving, because their chances of a one, two or three seed are going goodbye. This would be the worst loss of the year for any major team.

Note: I had Michigan at -3 on a sweetheart teaser and it will be my only loss. So I am biased lol. But still a horrible, horrible loss.

I think there are still 3:00 left in the game.
