And it's officially time to start taking Notre Dame serious
-
athlete37With only one ranked opponent the rest of the year and being easily THE hottest team in America the last three weeks in a row, it's time to consider the Irish legit. Their last five games have come against RPI top 35 teams (Cuse, @ Seton Hall, @ UConn, Marquette, WVU) and UConn was the only game that was close in the last minute. With home "gimmes" (I cringe saying that) against Depaul and Rutgers next before a trip to a struggling 11-13 Villanova, this team could (and should) be in the top 15 in the polls a week and a half from now after starting out the season 8-5. That ish Brey.

SportsAndLadySweet...can't you tell by your game thread today (lol @ that game thread, btw) that no one other than you and karen care about ND basketball? Just STFU and post this in the random chatter thread or PM each other back and forth about how ND has a decent team this year.

But ND is EASILY the hottest team in America right now!!!! -
MulvaTake them seriously in general, or seriously compared to how they were taken 2 months ago?

athlete37
Sarcasm I take it? In the last two and a half weeks (RPI in parenthesis): W Syracuse (1) 67-58 and still Cuse's only lose, W @ Seton Hall (33) 55-42, W @ UConn (22) 50-48, W Marquette (12) 76-59 snapping their 7 game win streak, W @ WVU (24) 55-51. Give me a team that's done more in that time and I'll say my original statement was wrong...hoops23;1080690 wrote:lol

Both. If the BE tourney started Saturday ND would be the 2 seed. Also, they'll be ranked in the top 15 very soon barring a major upset.Mulva;1080692 wrote:Take them seriously in general, or seriously compared to how they were taken 2 months ago? -

You mean the same UCONN team that's recently been drubbed by GU and Louisville?athlete37;1080693 wrote:Sarcasm I take it? Seton Hall? lol
Marquette, solid win... Though they've dropped games to LSU and Vandy as well..
WVU is 16-9 with losses to Kent St by 10, Seton Hall by 19, and St Johns by 16...
I'll give you the Cuse game, however, Cuse was missing their best player. -
athlete37
Okay, first off a kid averaging 7 pts and 5 rebounds isn't the best player on the best team-- and Notre Dame dominated that game anyways. Second off, UConn has lost those games since Calhaun took a leave of absence-- they lost to ND at home before that and were ranked top 20 at the time. Third, Seton Hall was 15-4 coming into that game and the Irish dominated on the road. Next, you bet your ass a 17 point spanking of a Marquette team many had seeded as a solid 2 in the NCAA tournament is a good win. Lastly, that same West Virginia team is the other other team to come within two points of Syracuse just a week and a half ago at the Carrier Dome and will be a tournament team.hoops23;1080698 wrote:You mean the same UCONN team that's recently been drubbed by GU and Louisville?

You never post on Notre Dame threads, do you? -
Midstate01Take them serious when they actually do something in the tourney.

Are you a moderator now? Do people have to have their threads approved by you? Obviously you care about ND or you wouldn't have posted on a thread about ND.SportsAndLady;1080688 wrote:Sweet...can't you tell by your game thread today (lol @ that game thread, btw) that no one other than you and karen care about ND basketball? sleeperND is terrible in basketball. They are not good. They will not win anything. They are not good.

WTF are you a robot? I get it. You have to be practicing for when you get your chance at the drive thru.sleeper;1080871 wrote:ND is terrible in basketball. They are not good. They will not win anything. They are not good. -
sleeperND is terrible. They've never beaten anyone good all season besides Syracuse who my mom's volleyball team could beat if you take away Fab Melo.

Fab Melo is not Syracuse's best player. That would be either Kris Joseph or Dion Waiters. Fab is very important to the team though....I'll give you that. -

The point is, ND wouldn't even be a team to care about had Syracuse not had Fab Melo. If they play again, and Syracuse is at full strength, ND won't come within 30. I don't have any links or facts to back up that up, so I will probably get an infraction point from C4F for trolling. This rule only applies to me, so no worries to anyone else.killer_ewok;1080999 wrote:Fab Melo is not Syracuse's best player. That would be either Kris Joseph or Dion Waiters. The hottest team in America? They won at home against the then #1 team (But I really don't buy into Syracuse as being top 4 material as they haven't played that tough of a schedule) without one of their better players. Then they won at Seton Hall (66th by KenPom), who was currently in the middle of what ended up being a 6 game losing streak. Then they won at UCOnn (40th by KenPom) who was in the midle of what ended up being a 4 game losing streak. Then they won at home versus a strong Marquette team (22nd by KenPom) with a good record (This is a quality win). Then they beat WVU at WVU (38t by KenPom), who had lost 3 of their past 4, that game making it 4 of their past 5. They have 2 good wins (Syracuse without their top player, and Marquette) both at home. Then they have some other wins against teams that were struggling hard (losing streaks).athlete37;1080679 wrote:With only one ranked opponent the rest of the year and being easily THE hottest team in America the last three weeks in a row, it's time to consider the Irish legit. This team shouldn't and won't be in the top 15 polls. 8 losses is just too many to be top 15 at this point. As of the last poll there was only one team in the top 25 with 7 losses, that was Michigan. There were only 3 teams with 6 losses (FSU, Wisconsin and Indiana).
I would be shocked if ND is in the top 15 in a week and a half. They could be top 25, possibly even as high as 18 or 19. But they won't be top 15. -
centralbucksfanDepends on what you mean by SERIOUS? National title serious? Absolutely NOT. As a team who might make the NCAA? Possibly. Still a ways to go though. They are a team who has little margain for error in winning games against very good teams. WVU is not all that great btw. Yes, good win, especially on the road. But lets not go overboard.
Brey a Wizard? lol Please. He does seem to do better with less. But he has also had some underachieving teams as well. Average coach at best. -

No. No. Not true, you can post about something and not care. It's not like I had to "prepare" for my response, I just clicked on the thread, read it, and posted..took about 45 seconds; that's hardly caring.Skyhook79;1080865 wrote:Are you a moderator now? But if I was a mod, you'd be very, very screwed. -
thavoiceHow did this happen? I only saw them play against IU and they were horrible. Indiana was coming off a huge win vs UK I think. They were flat, uninspired and yet still beat ND on a nuetral floor. I think ND went over 10 minutes without a FG and during that time IU couldnt even take a commanding lead.
WHat has lead to their resurgance? -
