I like the infusion of former NFL coaches on the staff. It brings legitimacy to telling these guys what it takes to play in the NFL, and will make them work that much harder.

I would agree with that. I think those coaches bring a unique perspective that should help with player development, but also be a major selling point when it comes to recruiting.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but Sheridan didn't exactly tear it up in the NFL, did he?

Sean Smith and (especially) Vontae Davis were solid DBs for Miami, but I'm not sure how much an LB coach had to do with that

I love bringing in an NFL kind of guy (he's gotta know something), but I'm not crazy about the idea of bringing in an LB coach to coach DBs. Not a whole lotta sense there.

You should know better than us... he served on Carr's staff at Michigan. How was he when he was there?

He was the linebackers coach for the giants when they won the superbowl. His biggest disappointment was producing former Michigan qb Nick.

Funny thing is, Taver Johnson left to coach LB's

He was there for like 3 seasons. Defense was ok but I have no idea what if he did well or not. It is interesting that he is doing DBs though. He has mostly done linebackers. I think he did DL at UM too.

He was the LB coach for the Giants when they won the Super Bowl, but I'm more interested in the perspective he'll bring.

I wouldn't like it if Withers weren't on the staff. I'm sure he'll play a big role in the development of that group.

Yeah, I think it's the year he was DC I was thinking off. But otherwise he has been a position coach pretty much his whole life.

Well, good. Pretty sure that's what we hired him for - DB (position) coach.

Everett Withers - Assistant Head Coach, Co-Defensive Coordinator, Safeties Coach
Luke Fickell - Defensive Coordinator, Linebackers Coach
Tom Herman - Offensive Coordinator, Quarterbacks Coach
Ed Warinner - Co-Offensive Coordinator, Offensive Line Coach
Stan Drayton - Running Backs Coach
    Tim Hinton - Tight Ends/Fullbacks
Zach Smith - Wide Receivers Coach
Mike Vrabel - Defensive Line Coach
Brian Voltolini - Director of Football Operations
Mark Pantoni - Director of Player Personnel
Mickey Marotti - Asst. AD for FB Sports Performance

Reading up on these guys... I remember Coach Meyer said he wanted to assemble the best coaching staff in the country. I'd say he did pretty well. Still don't know much about them, but reading up to get myself familiar.

Withers isn't proven?!? I'd say he's more proven than Herman.

My god...you're all so damn intent on making anything UM does seem like decisions coming down from Olympus. On Nov. 25, 2012 we will know what we got here and not a Fk'n day sooner. Until then some of you need to let go of his sac.
