Clemson was just doing what Clemson does. I never take them seriously because I know that soon enough they will have it coming down their leg. The sad thing is, that conference is ripe for the picking too. Va Tech has a great set-up over there

They haven't won one since 1991? and Va Tech just joined the conference a few years ago.

I just don't think the MWC would say, "well, TCU wins the tiebreaker, so they are our BCS candidate" when they won't be eligible. I believe they'd call it a tie, expect Boise to get the BCS autobid and TCU would still get its rightful reward in the #1 MWC bowl (I don't even know what that is anymore).

None of it is likely since TCU probably is going to have little trouble with UNLV. But there would be no reason to use a tiebreaker in that scenario since doing so/not doing so doesn't affect TCU's bowl.
A conference can't just make up rules whenever they want. TCU are conference champs, it's already been decided.

and that changes the fact how?

I'm sorry you don't understand it. In the scenario being discussed, they'd be co-champs. The tiebreaker isn't to make one or the other champion of the conference, they would both be that. The tiebreaker is to determine bowl selection. TCU wouldn't be eligible for the BCS bowl, Boise would. Boise would go to the BCS bowl with an autobid. If Boise wasn't eligible for that BCS autobid, TCU would win the head-to-head tiebreaker and go to the MWC #1 bowl and Boise would go to the #2 MWC bowl. That wouldn't be the case, so the tiebreaker wouldn't be relevant.

It looks like TCU might move into the top 16 and get an auto bid. Currently 18th. Baylor won (#17), so they'll stay ahead of TCU. Meaning TCU needs to pass up 2 other teams.

Georgia is the current #14, then either #13 MSU or #15 Wisconsin is going to lose, and Houston lost as well. Plus who knows how far Oklahoma would drop if they lose to OSU.

The only way I could see them not cracking the top 16 is for Clemson (#20) to beat Va Tech and jump them, and for either Houston, Georgia, or the Wisky/MSU loser to not be punished too much for losing a conference title game and staying in the top 16.

Not that too much changes, as they'd just be taking Houston's auto-bid spot.

TCU vs Michigan in the Sugar is likely now but not a lock like Houston would have been.

I'm figuring the final BCS standings look about like this:

    1. LSU
    2. Alabama
    3. Oklahoma State
    4. Stanford
    5. Boise State
    6. Arkansas
    7. Oregon
    8. Kansas State
    9. Wisconsin
    10. South Carolina
    11. Clemson
    12. Virginia Tech
    13. Oklahoma
    14. Michigan
    15. Houston
    16. Baylor
    17. TCU
    18. Nebraska
    19. Michigan State
    20. West virginia

If Michigan doesn't get up to 14, obviously they won't be picked. If TCU gets up to 16 then they get an automatic bid and go to the Orange Bowl, moving WVU to the Sugar Bowl. If Oklahoma State jumps Alabama then shakes things up a bit as well.

    Auto Bids

    SEC - LSU
    Big Ten - Wisconsin
    Pac-12 - Oregon
    ACC - Clemson
    Big XII - Oklahoma State
    Big East - West Virginia

    BCS Top 4 - Stanford
    BCS #2 - Alabama

    Selection Order:
    Sugar (to replace LSU): Michigan
    Fiesta: Stanford
    Sugar: Oklahoma
    Orange: West Virginia

    BCS National Championship Game
LSU (13-0, 8-0, SEC Champion) vs. Alabama (11-1, 7-1, At Large)

    Rose Bowl
    Wisconsin (11-2, 7-1, Big Ten Champion) vs. Oregon (11-2, 8-1, Pac-12 Champion)

    Fiesta Bowl
Oklahoma State (11-1, 8-1, Big XII Champion) vs. Stanford (11-1, 8-1, At Large)

    Orange Bowl
Clemson (10-3, 6-2, ACC Champion) vs. West Virginia (9-3, 5-2, Big East Champion)

    Sugar Bowl
Michigan (10-2, 6-2, At Large) vs. Oklahoma (9-3, 6-3, At Large)

Michigan State should go...not Michigan....if anything.

    "Sugar Bowl

As much as I hate Virginia Tech, I don't see Okie getting the bid over them.
  • Mulva
I don't think Oklahoma will finish in the top 14.

    1. LSU
    2. Alabama
    3. OSU
    4. Stanford
    5. Boise State
    6. Arkansas
    7. Oregon
    8. Kansas State
    9. Wisconsin
    10. South Carolina
    11. Clemson
    12. Virginia Tech
    13. Michigan
    14. Baylor

Oklahoma will be 14th at best, but I think Baylor jumps them in the human polls and Baylor's computer numbers will go up by beating Texas (and the TCU win is going to look a little bit better too).

Oklahoma will be fighting with Michigan State, Houston, and TCU for 15th in my opinion.

Coaches will have Bama at No. 2 as will Harris voters. BUT ... I'm projecting OSU to be at No. 2 in the BCS standings.

    interesting

If that happens then I figure it will be Alabama vs. Stanford in the Sugar Bowl and Michigan vs. Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl.

The only way Virginia Tech would be picked at large by anyone is if they are the only major conference team in the top 14 eligible to be picked, and even then they might take Boise over them.

Going to be close...OK St gained a lot of ground and is expected to lead in the computers.

Only 32 points behind bama is huge for osu. I'm hoping they will sneak in
  • Cleveland Buck
Oklahoma State will be in the title game if the Harris poll shows a similar jump.
