I could quote about every post in this topic but I realize all the other posts is Big 10/OSU bias and they got scarlet blinders on. So, I will comment on your post since at least you have football knowledge.
Why would OK deserve to be in the title game over a one loss Bama? Which team had a better loss? Bama losing to the #1 team in the land in OT, or OK getting beat by a unranked team? I know the media would try to get OK in, but how would that be fair?

Using that logic Florida never should have played in the 2006 BCS title. OSU and Michigan should have just played again.

I don't know if it is fair or not, I just think it will happen. LSU would've had a chance to bounce back to the title game, but I think Oklahoma would get in over Bama if they both have a loss.

I will say, however, that Oklahoma's overall resume may end up being better. It depends on how some teams finish up. I've always said it is more about who you beat than who you lose to. Oklahoma may end up with a slight advantage with their top wins with Ok State 11-1, Texas/Kansas State 10-2 or 9-3, and Florida State potentially 9-3. Alabama may be looking at Arkansas 10-2, Penn State (I'm expecting them to drop a few, if they don't this may be the key) 10-2/9-3, and Auburn 8-4 (at best). Throw in that Oklahoma may end up having beaten 7 teams with winning records versus Alabama's potential to have only 5 - I think Oklahoma could certainly have a claim to the better resume.

I believe the computers already have a slight lean in the direction of the Big XII. Add that to an adequate percentage of voters (I don't think this is the majority, I just think it is enough) who will be anti-rematch and I think Oklahoma would get the nod.

Exactly. No way there will be a rematch, I don't care if Alabama has only 1 loss and everyone else has at least 3+ losses. LSU proved on the field they are the better team, time to give someone else a chance.

I agree with that, and great post overall.

I'm not sure Stanford will jump OK State even if both remain unbeaten though. I really don't see Stanford getting a conference championship game boost, because it's likely going to be against a team with at least 3 losses. Oklahoma State would remain ahead of them in the computers and human polls in my opinion.

I cant wait for Stanford to go down this w/e. Just saw on tv that they are possibly without both TE's and a WR. Plus, how will their defense stop ORE's speed? They wont. I want the frauds (Stan and OK St) out of the picture.
  • Writerbuckeye
I see that LSU will most likely get to play for a BCS title in its home state again.

What will this be: the third time that's happened?

It won't be a surprise if LSU is able to win their third BCS title...and all of them will have happened in Louisiana.

    It's all just a coincidence, I'm sure.
  • cats gone wild
Yeah, years in advance they can predict that LSU will make the title game every 4 years. So, in 2015 (since every 4 years its in NO) book it for LSU to be in the title game.
What I wonder, is whats going to happen next year when LSU goes to the title game. Cant arrange a "home site". LSU is suppose to be better next year with a way easier schedule.
  • dlazz
Notre Dame is going to win it all. They're the best team this year.

    Book it.

I hope Stanford crushes them. I think they can, Oregon is a joke. Boise State is the one getting hosed.

What do you do if Georgia gets to the SEC title game and beats LSU?

LSU has yet to play a team with the level of QB play Stanford, Boise State, and Oklahoma State have. In the relatively small sample size I've had with LSU this year I've seen Trent Richardson get behind the coverage twice only to be overthrown, and this wasn't exclusively something that occurred in the Alabama game. The coverage makes mistakes, and if you run in to a team that can capitalize on those mistakes when they happen, then the LSU offense is going to have to score points. Geno Smith got hot in that game and WVU pulled within 7 at one point. Geno Smith isn't Andrew Luck, Kellen Moore, or even Brandon Weeden. Even if Stanford gets destroyed this weekend I suggest you wait a bit longer before crowning LSU the champions, because all it takes is a hot streak from any three of those guys to find yourselves down two or three scores and relying on that offense to make plays.

Eh, LSU's entire secondary will more than likely play in the NFL. They might not be able to completely shut down Blackmon, but they should be able to keep him under control. How many defensive lines like LSU's has OSU faced? There is no guarantee Weeden would have time to wait until Blackmon gets open.

Seriously, do I need to explain myself? Alright, sit at your school desk. OSU has struggled against weak programs KSU and A&M this year (should of easily lost to A&M (who LSU destroyed last year)). OSU gives up over 25 points a game. Last year OSU was pretty good with a 11-2 record, but....but, they gave up 98 points in their 2 losses.
Another example, Oklahoma had amazing QB's and put up tons of points. They make the title games in 03 and 08. Hmmmm, what happened? They play LSU and UF and their offense gets halted by SEC defense.
LSU played one of the best offensive teams in recent history to begin this season. What happened? They killed Oregon. What happens when LSU gets time to prepare for games? They whip teams in bowl games (besides the slop bowl). LSU has only lost ONE game to OOC teams since Miles took over as coach (slop bowl). Do I need to go on?
    Boise has no shot.
OK st will get beat by OK
Stanford will get beat by 10+ to Ore

^ Might want to go explain why the B1G is even with the SEC in the BCS bowl era head to head. Or go explain why the B1G has a better record head to head against the SEC, more National Titles, more Heismans, and better academics.

The list goes on, keep dreaming.

OK st will get beat by OK

LSU is ranked 87th in total offense this year. I can't go back far enough to look but in the BCS era has any team ranked anywhere close to that and won the national title? Alabama was 43rd in '09 and barely beat Texas minus the second winningest QB in the history of the sport. They're also ranked 20th in scoring offense which is obviously attributed to the fact that they are ranked second behind OK State in turnover margin. It should be noted that OK State has 14 turnovers lost, however, to LSU's five. OK State will turn the ball over and LSU is good at making people turn the ball over. Well that sounds like a stat in favor of LSU so why am I telling you this? Because if you look down the list you will notice two more teams sitting high in the turnover margin list; Stanford (7) and Boise State (8). Hmmm, LSU scores via mistakes, field position through excellent defense/ not turning the ball over, and forced turnovers. Stanford and Boise State score via offense, offense, and not turning the ball over.

As a Bears fan I've seen a few teams eerily similar to LSU over the years and I promise you having a rock solid turnover forcing defense and efficient special teams does not automatically translate to championships. It only takes one game where the opposing offense is clicking and making zero mistakes to force the game in to the hand of the LSU offense, and that's a bet I'm not taking.
