Good point. I concede about PSU. Disagree about Illinois.
LJ;802196 wrote:We aren't talking about losing. We are talking about teams that OSU can go out and just "out athlete" which would be just less than half of the teams they play.

I still think it's over half.

Illinois had 4 draft picks, 3 in the first 2 rounds, and OSU had 5 draft picks, 1 in the first 2 rounds. How can you say it's not close?

Good Lord, we're talking Illinois here, folks. It isn't about having better athletes -- it's about having a better COACH. Illinois went into every game the past several years knowing they'd lose the coaching battle by a wide margin.

Excellent find. That's surprising to me and I'm sure is a rarity. Guess we should credit Zook for his recruiting abilities because he does get some talent.

how hard was he trying not to laugh when he said this...I call bullshit!!!

"In terms of Ohio State, I'd like to say sorry to the coaching staff, say sorry to my teammates, say sorry to all Buckeye Nation and all Buckeye fans across the country," Pryor said as Rosenhaus sat at his side. "I never meant to hurt anybody directly or indirectly with my conduct off the field, and I am truly sorry.

"In terms of coach Jim Tressel, a special shout-out -- I'm sorry for what all went down. I apologize with all my heart. I love you just like a father. You taught me a lot, and I apologize for putting you in a situation and taking you out of a job at a place where you love to be.

"I regret the fact you're not there any more, and I regret the fact I'm not there any more."

I don't think he intentionally meant to hurt anyone, but he sure made some piss poor decisions.

I don't think any of these clowns set out to intentionally hurt anybody either, but they end up doing it anyway...yeah, I'm cynical, but that's me

I think the fact that TP, for the three years he started, wasn't surrounded by NFL talent at the skill positions, is entirely relevant to the debate about his potential.

Yeah I heard that on the radio. I think he was sincere (even if someone like Rosenhaus encouraged him to say it), but I needed to hear that a few weeks ago.

you're right--it would have sounded more contrite had he said it immediately after Tressel resigned, but then again, he didn't want to implicate himself--not yet, at least

Pryor is a lifelong scam artist. He plays people to get what he wants. Always has -- likely always will.

I don't believe for a second that ANY of that apology is sincere. It's only being done to try and repair a very damaged character that has NFL personnel shying away from him. Unless he can convince at least one of those idiots to take a chance on him, he doesn't get paid. Again, more scam artistry in action...this time being orchestrated by a guy who wants to get his percentage of Pryor's paycheck.

If Pryor never shows his face again in the State of Ohio or at OSU, I'll be a happy guy. I want nothing to do with him and his legacy of shame.

    Spot. On.

Sure he didn't intentionally hurt anyone - because thinking about how his actions impact others is not in the dude's capacity.

That maybe, but the kid was barely 19 years old, and his transgressions were minor compared to Tressel who was an adult and whose lying was a major infraction. I'll reserve judgement on Pryor until I see whether this experience makes him grow as a man, and where he goes and how he handles himself going forward.

    He's old enough to vote.
He's old enough to protect and serve.
He's old enough to play pro football.
He's old enough to play in the biggest spotlight of college football and win MVP awards.

He's old enough to know better than to do the crap he did.

I knew better at 19...so did you and probably most of the people on here.

    The "kid" excuse doesn't wash.

Just to be clear: JT falls on his own actions, and it has nothing to do with Pryor. He (JT) knew better and lied, anyway.

That doesn't mean Pryor gets a pass. Actions have consequences and his actions put things in motion that have hurt a lot of people, including the coach he supposed loved like a father.

    Yeah, right.

A lot of people grow up and change significantly after 19. Few do after 58.

Tressell is who he is, a guy who played up an image as one thing for decades, while living as something entirely different. He has little to no hope to ever repair the shame he brought upon himself. And he will likely die with his legacy mostly, if not completely, ruined.

Will Pryor mature into a great, unselfish, person? Probably not. But at least there's a chance.

    Edit: forgot about Michigan St.

Hasn't OSU lost to PSU more in the last 5 years than any of the teams you've mentioned? PSU is definitely one of the top teams in the Big Ten. They had a down year this season, but I'd place them ahead of MSU, Michigan and Iowa. Even with Wisky.

    Yeah, right.

You got college age kids? I've had three. I'm proud of all of them, but it is not like any of them didn't make some foolish mistakes. I myself made a mistake as a college freshman that could have cost me a chance at my career. Young men make mistakes, and there is wisdom in experience.

When I was 18-19 if anyone had followed me with any type of scrutiny I probably would have ended up in jail after about a week.
