Diebler's Last Two Games

Tell that to the 05 and 09 Championship teams...who happen to be the team we are talked about coached by the guy whose offense is the "end of the break"...Fast break into 2 wings and a post with a PG pushing and the other post trailing. I also wouldnt say Kansas or Memphis played much half-court in their runs to the title game, or in the title game.

UNC is tough for OSU. OSU could win, but they are a tough match-up. Who guards Henson? Whoever Diebler is on will be able to go around him. Dont forget it is the tournament, and a guy like Craft could easily pick up cheap fouls on Kendall Marshall. UNC was a bad team a month ago with Drew, they are a top 10 team, easily with Marshal going from 10 min to 35 min a game, if not top 5.

On the flip side, UNC would have trouble as well. Zeller may be on of the best post defenders in the country, but Sully is just too strong for him, though it woul dbe close. Zeller does have 2 inches on him. Id think Buford and Diebler would be able to have big games.

What did skyhoook mean about being better than Dante Jackson?

Back in the JJ days (or maybe it was early OC days) people were claiming Jackson was the better player. It was basically an OSU/Xavier debate and it stretched back to their HS days when people argued over them. Just kind of dumb, though stats wise Jackson had a really solid year (I forget which). But there is a reason he ended up at X and JD is at OSU.

I remember all the hoopla about Dustin Pfieffer when these two were mentioned.

I use to think the same thing, that Diebler had no chance to play in the league, i'm starting to come around on it a bit. His overall improvement and knockdown ability may get him a look. There are plenty of specialists in the league. If Matt Caroll is still in the league after 9 years I think Diebler gets a look.

Don't get me wrong. I think Diebler is a remarkable long-range shooter. He has always been streaky. Even at Upper Sandusky he was more streaky than a pure shooter. I probably saw Jon play 16 times in high school, counting four times at the state tournament as well as at Fostoria as a freshman, and he never shot the way he is now. He's quickly removing the "streaky" label and simply becoming a great shooter.

But Diebler will never be half the shooter at the next level that guys like Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, Dale Ellis, Steve Smith, Steve Kerr, Rex Chapman or Allan Houston were. Or countless others. Let's just stop it.

Diebler is on a LOOOONNNNNGGGGGG streak..... 32 games shooting .511 on 3-pointers

Keendall Marshall probably wouldn't be as good at passing to start the NC offense with Craft in his jock.

Haha which is why I stated that he has dropped the "streaky" label and is now just a damn great shooter.

Ohio State is playing their best basketball of the year at the right time. I've said that this team is the perfect mix of players and they are showing it right now.

I talked to an old coach and asked how he'd defend Diebler the way he's shooting. He said he'd have someone cold cock him on his first shot. Three foul shots and T would be worth it.

And Northern Iowa's zone probably wouldn't give Kansas any problems..but we all know that's not how it went.

Point is, you can have the best, most complete team in the country...but one bad matchup and you'll lose. Just because OSU has the all american post player, the great shooter, the experienced senior, the first round winger, and a lock down defender doesn't mean they can't be beaten.

Might be a good idea with how he is shooting the ball, honestly.

Lol it's Jon Diebler..not Michael Jordan

LOLOLOL The name is irrelevant fool, it's what the shooter is doing to you. When he's unconscious you have to get his attention.

No shit Einstein, I'll take the field and give you any team you want for $100. What team do you want??

this coming from the guy who probably said jj reddick was going to be one of the best 3 point shooters in the NBA...

Not other than Sullinger needing a couple of blows. Have you seen their tongues hanging out? Matta has them as well conditioned as any team..

There are twice as many TV time outs in the Tournament.

Foul problems are more unlikely for Ohio State than any other team. Ohio State has made fewer fouls than any team in the country, by far. Matta hates fouls, he stresses not fouling in practices. Ohio State's opponents shoot fewer foul shots than any team in the country, a huge factor in their success.

I didnt see much of the game but I would imagine that Nolan Smith was guarding Marshall. Someone can correct me if I am wrong. If Smith did guard Marshall for the majority of the game, what would make you think that Craft would do better at guarding KM than NS did?

Twice as many or twice as long? TO's every 2 minutes is going to make my remote more active than I first thought.

Diiebler would not get embarrassed in a game of H-O-R-S-E, but he would get embarrassed in an NBA game .Diebler's handle is below average, his athleticism is below average(for an NBA player), and his on ball defense is poor.

Obviously, Diebler has worked his tail off to become the player he is and that is commendable. I would be very surprised if he was on an NBA roster next year.

Yeah, if only Diebler played for Duke(a school rec didn't go to)...

Marshall is good at finding guys in the right position. He's not a scorer. I think Craft is a great defender, but I don't know if he shuts down Marshall.

Buford would be forced to guard Barnes, and I think Barnes is better than Buford.

Lighty would be forced to guard Henson, and Henson is a guy that could use his length to score over the top of Lighty.

Zeller is a tough matchup for Sullinger because he's long defensively and Sullinger has shown to struggle a little playing over the top of guys. Plus, Zeller is a really smart player and would really make Sullinger work.

I'm not saying UNC is better than OSU, but I think they have the type of team to cause OSU problems.

And yes, Kansas does as well because of their size. But honestly, UNC scares me more.

Diebler is a good college basketball player. He's not even on the NBA's radar. That's a fact.

Although Diebler can handle the ball well enough to run the offense at the next level, he isn't nearly athletic enough, nor a consistent enough scorer in other aspects of his game or defend well enough to be on the court for long stretches. But when he's on, it's difficult to slow down Diebler from the perimeter.
But yet, I am waiting on a turnover if Diebler has to dribble more than once.
