Diebler's Last Two Games

  • Prescott
Has any other D1 college player done what Diebler has done the last two games. 17/20(85%) is insane and I don't recall another player being that efficient, so to speak.
  • chicago510
He is averaging 2.60 points per shot the last two games. That is sickening efficiency.
  • athlete37
Kyle McAlarney had a stretch of games where he hit 6, 10, 9, 7 at over 50 percent each game but this is just ridiculous marksmanship. A lot of the ones Diebler has hit have been contested, deep, or both.

Its the closest Ive seen him be consistently to his HS days. He has no conscious and his just firing them from wherever, and hitting them. Very much like the Upper Sandusky days.

Never seen anything like it. Remarkable.

I have a feeling he will be named Big Ten player of the week.

Thats going out on a limb....

Definately in the "zone" and confident. Lets hope this carries over to the NCAA!!

It wouldn't have bothered me if had saved a few for the upcoming weeks.

Well, we cannot, nor should we expect him or OSU to continue this hot shooting. I mean 68% overall and 14/15 from three is absolutely sick. I am not sure in my lifetime that I have ever seen a better shooting performance than this. Typically teams may start off hot and have a great half, but level off as game goes on. OSU never leveled off. They had it going from the outside, and Sullinger had it going on the inside.
As good as Diebler has been, people are forgetting about Buford. He has been on an absolutely roll the past 7/8 games minus the purdue loss. The name of the game is putting it in the hoop...and this team can flat out shoot the rock.
  • Hamler Bulldogs
That's what he used to do in high school.
  • Skyhook79
But is he better than Dante Jackson...
  • krambman
He said that the basket has looked as big as the ocean to him, and to knock them down the way he has the past two weeks I would think that it has to. Let's hope he keeps it up all the way to a national championship.

I don't think any of us has forgot what Buford has done down the stretch for the Buckeyes. He has carried the Bucks down the stretch. But were are all just amazed at what Mr Diebler has done the last 2 games.

Ive noticed the last 5 games or so he has started to drive the ball more inside the arc to create his own shot. Hopefully the coaches have been telling him to do this if he is a threat to drive the ball then he can't be defended as effectively by a lockdown guy who follows him behind the arc. And obviously him shooting unbelievably helps.

Diebler is playing out of his mind. He is the X factor for OSU this season, as if he's hitting shots, OSU can beat anyone in the country.

And the most impressive thing to me, is that he's playing with confidence that he hasn't always played with this year, and when he's doing that he becomes such a good all around player.

Diebler needs to keep shooting, anything less than 10 shots a game is unacceptable and not a winning formula for the Bucks.
Been fun to watch him these last few games.

Completely agree with this. Even if he's not hitting, he needs at least 7 shot attempts per game to put this team at it's full potential.

I've been critical of him, but I'm really happy to see him playing well right now. OSU is scary good when he's hitting shots.

Even if hes not hitting you don't let Jon Diebler sit behind the 3 point arc uncontested.

I think that is what has been more impressive the last two games though...he is hitting contested shots. Not many of these have been wide open looks. Which is quite different from his norm..he normally doesn't look to shoot if someone is up on him. But when your as confident as he is now...he is letting it fly. Which as mentioned, i have no issue with. Even if he isn't hitting...after these past two games, teams are not even going to take a chance at leaving or rotating from him. Which is only going to make Sullinger and others that much more effective. When Buford and Diebler are shooting as they have been...I honestly don't think there is a team in the country who can beat them.

He's got to be one of the best, if not THE best, college 3-point shooters in history.

If Diebler plays the way he has the last two games, there is not a team in the country that is within 8 points of Ohio State.

And that has been my point with Diebler his entire career. A shooter needs to shoot the ball. He has too often missed his first couple shots and shuts down. He's obviously been hitting, but he is much more aggressive. I LOVE Diebler when he's aggressive. I HATE it when he's not.

I just really hope his confidence carries into the postseason.

For as much crap as I've given him, I admire his work ethic and really would love to see him and Lighty specifically, go on a run their senior years. If Diebler has a great tournament, he will quiet all criticism he's ever received and will go down to many as one of the favorite Buckeyes in recent years.

You mean in the history of basketball don't you?

honestly, I don't know how Ryan could let Gosser continue to attempt to guard Diebler. Gosser is listed at 6'3", isn't diebler 6'6" or 6'7"? He could shoot over Gosser all day. Which is what he did. I guess Bo didn't have a player on the bench who could legitimately handle the ball and be long enough to defend Diebler on the perimeter.
Crazy bad matchup. How did Diebler do in game one? I can't remember off hand.

Also, was thinking of something during the game.

    Carolina vs. OSU
    Zeller v. Sullinger
    Henson v. Lauderdale/Buford
    Barnes v. Diebler
    Strickland v. Lighty
    Marshall v. Craft

I would pay good money to watch this content. Matchups are very intriguing. Given Carolina's length and ability to defend the basket this game would be a transition war. First one to 85
