Glad to hear he's kept a positive attitude and is ready for the upcoming season. I was beginning to think Tress hated him haha. -
Scarlet_BuckeyeSince graduating, I've had less time to frequent the message boards. I used to know of the "insiders" on Bucknuts and Scout. Can someone please share the Insider's name? I'm curious to know which one it was. I remember exactly what OneBuckeye commented about above, how one of the "Insiders" said that Boyd and Floyd were locks, and as we know that was anything but the truth.

OneBuckeyeOn Bucknuts I would only trust the people that run the site like Helwagen and Bill Kruilic although I am not sure how inside they are, also I just don't trust bucknuts for anything. The best inside info has come from the bucket of bullets by Mr. Bucknuts on that site. On buckeyeplanet I would go with Wadc45 and osugrad21. On Scout Bill Green and NevadaBuck. Those are obvious ones, there are a couple more but I can't think of them right now.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Jim Tressel would love it if one of the four quarterbacks looking to replace the suspended Terrelle Pryor for the first five games of the 2011 season jumped up and seized the job this spring. That hasn't happened yet.
Through eight of the 15 spring practices, the four quarterbacks in the mix - senior Joe Bauserman, redshirt sophomore Kenny Guiton, redshirt freshman Taylor Graham and true freshman Braxton Miller - remain bunched. Speaking for about 12 minutes on a Big Ten conference call today, the first time Tressel has addressed a group of reporters since the day before spring practice started, he said Guiton had the best day of practice Tuesday, but that doesn't mean a lot at the moment.
"I kind of vacillate every day," Tressel said. "We don't have a game tomorrow, so we don't have to make that decision. What we're trying to do is evaluate that consistency over time. I think it is critical that by the end of 15 practices that we do start thinking about some sort of pecking order."
That's important because dividing up the practice snaps for the 29 preseason practices will be more difficult with Pryor back in the mix. Right now, Pryor is sidelined while recovering from foot surgery, so there are only four quarterbacks taking part in practice, not five. But Tressel said he expects Pryor to start running around on his foot again on May 1, and by the preseason he should be 100 percent. And though Pryor can't play for the first five games of the season, he'll still be a part of practice.
So though Tressel said preseason practice is about twice as important as spring practice, the other four quarterbacks are jockeying for position. They can't win the job, but they can put themselves in better position to win it in August.
"I hope you couldn't lose the quarterback battle in the spring, but maybe you could," Tressel said.
* NEWSOME LIMITED: Jon Newsome, who figured to be in the mix to start at strongside linebacker, hasn't participated in much of the practice time that reporters have been able to watch, and Tressel confirmed today that Newsome's reps have been limited. It's not because he's injured, but because he's in Tressel's doghouse.
"I've been known to have a doghouse, and Jonathan is in and out of it simply because we're not 100 percent sure he's been doing everything he needs to do to the best of his abilities," Tressel said. "I don't expect him to be in it long, but sometimes we have do what we think will help a young person learn."

OneBuckeyeThe guys on Buckeye Planet said their trusted sources say there is nothing coming down the pike for tOSU as suggested by the dude's original thread on bucknuts...

Quote from the dude on Bucknuts that posted the "bad news" crap.I received some info late last night that turned out to be BAD Info. I Posted that there "Might be " some more bad info coming. My source is very well connected......their source turned out to be wrong........l
I should never ever put it out there.......after an hour or so I asked a BN staff member to remove it........but before it was removed (by 8AM or so) way to many people had already read it and it spread thru the net........
I am the biggest Buckeye fan....Love them!!!!....I would NEVER EVER do anything to EVER hurt the program!!!!!!....EVER!!!!!!!
Some people have spread false lies saying I'm a RICH Booster and have been 'Blackballed" by the University......believe me....I'm far from being Rich............and a Booster that is in anyway corrupt!.....I wouldn't even by a players cousin a pepsi or sprite........NO WAY EVER!!!.......EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because of my connections thru out my many years.......I've been fortunate to meet many Buckeyes........is there anything the matter with that??????????
I know that I can hold my head up HIGH because I have never EVER done one thing wrong or iniquitous to hurt my beloved Buckeyes!
I'm very sorry for posting erroneous info before I got all the facts...........

centralbucksfanSounds like the first 5 games could be VERY ugly for the offense. No QB has stepped up. Offense has looked pretty poor thus far. Pretty scarey when you think back to Pryor frosh year and how the offense struggled. And this was with Pryor who could at least run pretty well. None of the current QB's are close to this athletic/running ability. Add in Tressel being so conservative with inexperience...and we better be prepared for some ugliness until Pryor returns.

Great points considering the season is still basically 4 months out.
You're acting like the season starts next week. -

I have to agree--let's see where we're at come 9/3...GO BUCKS!!! -
OneBuckeyeI find it disturbing that guys like James Louis aren't stepping up. I hope that Mr. Drayton will be able to step up his coaching too.

I'd say Braxton is, and Guiton's really athletic too.
Are you pulling this statement out of your ass? -

I agree. Bauserman is above average too, for a white guy. -
vball10seteven though he dons the scarlet and gray glasses, cbf is normally an excellent poster when it comes to giving analysis on Buckeye football--BUT, when I read posts like his last one, I have to assume someone hijacked his username...just sayin'

jpake1I don't worry about the offense just yet. There is so much moving going on with the offensive line it's near impossible to look good as a UNIT. They're waiting for more bodies to come in, and when they do, guys won't be moving around as much. They're still getting a look at all the quarterbacks. Once spring ball ends, the staff will have a pretty good idea of who they want on the line and who at qb. Once that is figured out, then the real practices begin. Will the offense be great the first 5 games? Definitely not. Will they be good? Probably not. Will they be average? That would be my guess, and maybe even a bit below average. Good thing for us that we'll have yet another great defense that'll keep us in every game, and might even win a few for us.

If you think that Braxton and Guiton are even close to Pryor athletically, your nutz. Pryor is a freak. 6'6", 245. That size alone, with this speed....sets him so far apart for those two, its not funny. Miller, a great athlete as well, doesn't have near the size or north/south speed that Pryor does. What he does have, is what Troy Smith had, elusiveness. He'll be able to make guys miss to find an open passing lane. He isn't near the runner that Pryor is. He is also injury prone as well. Guiton could even beat out Bauserman for #2 last year. Thats all I need to know about him. How is that for pulling something out of my ass? Wait and see...the first 5 games are going to be ugly offensively. Think back to Pryor frosh year..and OSU doesn't return as much offensively as that team did. Who is going to be the #1 WR? Hardly any experiene there. Lost how many Olineman? No Adams for 5 games on top of that. Breaking in a new QB, with no experience at WR and replacing a handfull of offensive lineman. Think what you will...but you better prepare yourself...its not going to be pretty. -

I am tempted to say "Get ready for everyone to be calling for Tressel's head" but he won't be on the sideline so they're going to need to find someone else to blame. -

1. Braxton is faster than you think. He is somehwere between Smith and Pryor. He will not be able to stand in the pocket and get out of hits like Pryor but I think he will have just as big of runs when he does scramble.centralbucksfan;745903 wrote:If you think that Braxton and Guiton are even close to Pryor athletically, your nutx. 2. Guiton appears to be done. Graham has passed him in the depth chart, Duane Long is already planning on using his scholarship for next year. I don't think he will leave but unless he shows up for the spring game he is not an option and never will be.
3. Who is going to be the number one WR? Obviously Posey when he gets back, but Brown and Williams have been open in practice they just can't catch it. Our TE's and RBs (Hall) will be much more utilized and are our best group of recieving TEs and RBs we've had in awhile. I think you just see a transition from never throwing to those guys to throwing to them 60% or more of the time until Posey gets back or someone catches the damn ball. I will wait to see evidence of this in the spring game, but from everything i have read it seems to be the case in practice.
4. Not worried about losing Adams. Mewhort and Lindsay played extremely well in backup rolls last year and Norwell and Hall have shown they are better than average too. Shugarts is the one I worry about. I think although thin they will be better than most expect.
5. Berry and Smith will be studs and you can take that to the bank. It may be tressel ball but it will closer to Clarett and Benie in the backfield than Boom and Lydell Ross. -

You are underestimating Braxton's ability to run with the football. His striaght-line speed is comparable to Pryor's but he is far more elusive and quick than Pryor. He runs much better in space.

Considering that comment is completely irrelevant when dealing with the topic of athleticism, I'd say you're pulling it out of your ass. Him beating out Bauserman for #2 literally has nothing to do with your comment I find false that no one is close to Pryor's athleticism.
I'd say Braxton is the closest, and Guiton is pretty close to. As athletic as Pryor? Definitely not. But more athletic than you're giving them credit for? Absolutely. -
karen lotzDon't know if there is a thread dedicated to 2012 recruiting but a highly rated RB deco decommitted due to concerns about Tressel's situation. Dunn maybe? 4* spread running back.
-
OneBuckeyeLoL Dunn is the farthest thing from a spread running back. He is 6 2 220. He is still commited he is just visiting scUM. There is a log jam at RB and he is afraid of sanctions. However, he will be a buckeye in the end I think.

Eh, you probably read somethin some UM guys said, they really got their panties soaked over this kid and they think they are in for the steal. -
karen lotzNah I saw a couple tweets from recruiting guys quoting him directly saying he was worried about sanctions. Also quoted as saying he was concerned about Tressel's future. I will try to find them but can't promise anything.

Scarlet_BuckeyeThis would be terrible news if OSU lost Dunn.
