You're underestimating things by about half.

You might be overestimating by half. Sure, OSU dominated the decade, but they only dominated the games the last 3 years.

nice article on Michigan and Hoke

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/stewart_mandel/07/15/brady-hoke-michigan/index.html?sct=cf_t11_a0
"I can't go [to Ohio State] and take penalties for something I never did," Kalis told ESPN.
I don't blame him (or any player really) for that, but I still hope he goes 0-4 against OSU.
The last time we saw the Wolverines play football, they lost 52-14 to Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl. In what would be the final dagger for Rodriguez, Bulldogs quarterback Chris Relf shredded Michigan's woefully overmatched secondary like so many before him. It marked the ninth time in 13 games the Wolverines allowed at least 34 points.
But Hoke is a more rugged, pro-style guy, who likes his quarterback under center. His chosen offensive coordinator, Al Borges, is a West Coast Offense disciple who mentored former Auburn star Jason Campbell and current San Diego State standout Ryan Lindley. Hoke has begun the potentially delicate process of installing a more traditional offense without completely neutering Robinson's new-age abilities.
I will be interested to see what UM can do about their defense and how they handle Denard. The defense has been terrible and I will be surprised if they can coach them up for next year. They'll have to take their time to get some players and by then I wonder (hope?) the tide will have shifted back in OSU's favor. Denard was spectacular last year and I would be afraid to do to much to change that. Unlike RR, I expect the new coach to work to his player's strengths and not try to force square pegs into round holes.

Just getting back some of the injured guys on D and getting a year older will do wonders. They won't be anything amazing but should at least be able to make some stops. As for Denard, I've heard the coaches say they expect to be 50/50 under center/shotgun, and depending on what works with him that can go either way throughout the year.

The sad part is UM does have some decent players on defense. Nothing spectacular but decent. But RR and staff were terrible at evaluating the talent and putting then in the correct position. I think we'll see the D improve just because of the D staff. Obviously they aren't going to be world beaters overnight, but I am excited to see what this staff does.

I agree, the injured returns will help out quite a bit.

I remember at the Spring Game there was a nice mix of what offense we ran last year and what offense we will run in the future. They most definitely will let Denard be Denard, but the transition will slowly come, which is what should have happened 3 years ago.

Dunn has confirmed that he will be attending the BBQ.

Hopefully Shane Morris and Kyle Kalis can get Dunn on board.. but I doubt it.

Either way, I really like Thomas Rawls' game.
  • WebFire
Yeah I'm hearing good things about Rawls. Camp can't get here soon enough.

WebFire you going up to Ann Arbor on the 14th for fan day?

Incoming frosh Kellen Jones is missing from the released roster. There was rumor that he had been involved with the law somehow and dismissed from the team. Looks like it may be true. Too bad, it looked like he was going to contribute early.

    Doubtful.

Graham Glasgow is now a preferred walkon at Michigan this fall, was supposed to be at OSU. He was talked about several times in the spring, definitely will be a red shirt. Hopefully Hoke and Co. can develop him so most of the guys in next years amazing Oline class can also redshirt.
  • WebFire
Yeah I saw that. Good news indeed.

4* WR Amara Darboh on campus today, would be nice to land a big time WR before the HS year starts. His info is on the front of mgoblog right now

Also, Terry Talbott, Teric Jones and Christian Pace are all out this year, possibly done for their careers, with injuries.

Very true, you won't see any 5* FBs. :) However, I do scratch my head a bit on this one. No other major offers, and only 211 lbs. I think one guy summed it up well...
The FB runs ahead of the HB and tries to block defenders for him. We need one of those guys.
