2011 Michigan Recruiting

Either way, Tate's dad says he does not want to leave, and they have not explored any other schools. Sounds like he knows (or is telling) as much as we know.

There's no reason for Hoke to want him. Use the scholly for someone else.

Brady Hoke confirmed he has spoken with Denard Robinson about his role in the offense, and Denard will be returning to Michigan.
  • Hb31187
What exactly is Denards role gonna be?
  • Trueblue23
From what Hoke alluded to, he will be our starting QB.

Depth. If he is not on the team, they only have 2 scholly QBs; 1 that is a flight risk and one that hasn't played much and will be a (medical) redshirt freshman.

I know Hoke is 52, but look at it this way. In 10 years, Hoke will be 62, and Miles will be 67-68. To me, I can't see Miles coaching to almost 70.

Have the rescheduled a recruit weekend yet? I think most are worried about all of the defensive committees and recruits deciding to stay with Michigan/sign with Michigan.

Chris Bryant (OL) is coming this weekend and sounds like he'll commit. Good pickup. He is your prototype B1G lineman. Other than that I haven't heard of any visits setup, but Hoke is still getting staff together and meeting with the team. He met with over 20 players individually today.

Also, Fred Jackson is being retained as RB coach.
  • Trueblue23
I like Jackson staying, but I was hoping for DeAndre Smith..

He will pick up a QB in this class. If Denard and Devin go down the season will be lost anyways. There are more important holes to fill right now.

But if one goes down, you have no backup. It's not like we are close on schollys and can't retain a current one. I really don't think he'll be back this season anyway unless something with his situation gets resolved quickly.

I'm not sure what QB you think we'll pick up that is worth anything. At this point in the game, any QB taken would be a shot in the dark project.

Hoke will start making recruit calls tomorrow. Hopefully we start hearing something then.

remember the days when Grady and Simpson were the next big thing after Chris Perry?
  • Trueblue23
Oh wow I remember Simpson, always wondered what happened to him.

Grady got fat. Really fat lol

    Looks like DR is staying
Robinson's high school coach said 10 to 15 schools had called him by Wednesday afternoon, expressing their interest in the dual-threat QB if he chose to transfer.
Isn't that some type of NCAA violation?

He's had experience looking for projects, it's not like a 3 or 4 star would come anyways with the 2 underclassmen ahead of him.

I don't know if it's a violation, but it's kind of shitty to bombard a high school coach about a former player that is still enrolled and on scholarship at another school.

I'm just curious where you get your information from. I'll be honest, I get a lot from what you post on here. Do you have subscriptions to rivals or some other website? I've looked before at sites like that and have gotten some information but nowhere near what you are able to provide. I'm just curious because I would love to be more informed.

Nick Saban last year when he was 58 is the oldest coach to win a the BCS Title Game. Most have been in their early 50's

I'm pretty sure that I heard somewhere that he was leaning towards staying, but welcomed calls from other coaches. I think he said he wanted to hear what their pitch was.

Probably not a violation to call the old high school coach, which is exactly why they are calling him.

A lot of the good info comes from Rivals. Between that and the various credible (for the most part) blogs and message board, you can get quite a bit of good info. During the hire I also monitored a couple popular LSU boards. Those proved to be just as valuable for Les Miles info.

Rich Rod donated all his Michigan stuff to the Salvation Army:

Michigan commit Blake Countess (4* DB) is taking a visit to Penn State. His dad says Hoke has talked to Blake, and that Blake and his dad both like Hoke a lot.

We need Countess in this class. I'm confident he stays.

Of the current 12 commits, 4 are taking visits to other schools this weekend. This is why Brandon screwed this whole thing up, IMO.
