Notre Dame Football 2011: The Brian Kelly Era...Ascends?
-
dat dudeThat was an interesting read. So, basically it doesn't qualify as a second offense because he was not "intoxicated" in his prior underage. I'm not familiar with Indiana law, but Ohio law does not have a law for one being "intoxicated," unless they are in public and causing a disturbance. My understanding from that article is that Floyd was at a private party, therefore unable to be charged with public intoxication, and subsequently, unable to be charged with being "intoxicated." Ohio treats an underage individual the same whether they have had one beer or fifteen beers.
And ftr, I think Floyd being suspended for the entire year would be ridiculous. I always thought the prior way ND handled situations exactly like this was extreme. It will be interesting to see what BK decides to do with Floyd. In that article, it says he hinted at anywhere from 1-4 games. I don't believe there has been any precedent for a coach in suspending a player who has been arrested three times at ND. My guess is a minimum of 2 games. -

There have been some ridiculous instances but more times than not, it's the student athlete that doesn't comply with what, not only the University demands of them, but also the authorities. In this case, Floyd has taken positive steps to be reinstated or take the case of Kyle McAlarney, ND helped him instead of just kicking him to the curb, same with Floyd. Most of the time, it's up to the student to get it done, something that a guy like Rashon Powers Neal didn't do. -
rock_knutneBK is leaning towards playing more than one QB this year:

Arrested is 100% irrelevant. It's not against he law to be arrested, or even charged with a crime if you get what I'm saying. His previous two altercations were so minor they have been wiped from his record. Many states consider underages so minor that they offer diversion programs to make more money and keep kids in line, it's there way of making themselves believe they are ruthless fun-killers since 80% of HS kids have admit to drinking and I've read as many as 93% of college kids admit to drinking underage (all of teh non-Mormon/Muslims). Again, I don't hold his previous incidents against him one bit, if anything I like him more. Now, his OVI is stupid as hell, I would have no problem with a 1-2 game suspension. -

+1"[Rees] is going to drive 55 mph," Kelly said. "He's not going to get you a ticket, but he's not going to drive 80 mph, either. He's going to manage the game and has a penchant for making plays. He really doesn't do anything stupid. He's going to make some mistakes and get some balls batted down, but he's not going to do anything catastrophic." -
karen lotzCrist and Rees will see limited action on Saturday and Kelly said the BG game would be Golson vs Hendrix. Te'o, Watt, and Daniel Smith won't play.

I don't have a problem with it. I think Fitzgerald is the man though so this doesn't project to be a "gimme." -
rock_knutneSorry but I don't like it. Just when you think they were getting back to scheduling upper tier to good programs they go and get Temple and Northwestern. BTW, ND shouldn't have to play NW to keep a foot hold in Chicago, they should dominate that area every year in recruiting, so long as the HC makes it a priority to visit and stay on top of those kids.
LOL, maybe Mike and Mike had some pull in getting this deal done, Greenie is a NW alum and we all know who Golic's faithful to. -
karen lotzI understand you are just joking about the Mike and Mike connection, but there is absolutely ZERO chance Greenie had any pull at all in getting this scheduled.
And I will add that if he did have something to do with it, it makes me not like ND playing NW even more. -

Tobias FünkeHe didn't. Notre Dame gets another Chicago game, Northwestern gets a chance. Everyone wins.

Yeah I'm not sure which guard he was going against in that first series, either Carrico or Nuss, but it wasn't fair. -
Tobias FünkeIrish picked up another in LS Scott Daly. Not quite the impact of the other two.
