But, I doubt Jim jumps to Florida assuming this is true.

I'm about a half hour from there. I'm personally going to go over and knock on Harbaugh's door this week.

Or he is waiting for his kids to get through school and by that time it would be close to the end of Tressel's contract and see whether or not Tress is done coaching...If he is, that's when Meyer would try and come back to get The OSU job.

    What about Mike Leech?

My best guess is going after Mullen or Strong since they know the program the best.

I think it would be really funny if they could hire away Peterson.

You do need some defense in the SEC.

I think this is more likely than anything, not that I would want Meyer at that point. I doubt he is thinking that as he is stepping down. But if he is out of coaching for two years and tressel steps down I could see Meyer coming back for OSU.

As far as florida goes, if I was a Florida fan or the AD Mullen would be my next HC and it would be a no brainer.

Just reading on a Florida site and his name was thrown out

Eh for some reason Leach doesn't really seem like he would be a good fit at Florida for whatever reason. He's gonna have to go somewhere that has been somewhat down recently. Jobs like Minnesota or Colorado would have been good ones for him and with those filled, he might have to look at a lesser football school.

Look at the location listed on wikipedia

Yeah, I guess technically you are right. Still: "Although the University is virtually a community unto itself and even has its own zip code—94305—it calls the City of Palo Alto home."

Yeah I heard it too I would just prefer the next coach be able to coach some defense.

I would love to see it be Mullen

No he already has his 2017 class all lined up at Illinois... wouldn't want to dissapoint those kids.

Zooker should come back just as recruiting coordinator, leave the coaching to someone else.
  • Fab1b
I agree, Zook is like Cooper and can recruit!

I've jokingly said that I have to start touting Mike Leach since I tried to sell every other fanbase on him. Like anywhere, it'd be fun to watch but would probably mean the end of competing for a national title.

I'd like to think Florida is in a position to hire someone who brings instant credibility and has had national success...just riding the wave of the last five years or so. But, I don't know that there's a realistic candidate who would leave his current job.

I would have Chris Petersen as #1, even though there's certainly a difference between where he's won and what he'd be facing. I wouldn't cry if it were Stoops, but I don't know why he'd want to move - he's going to win as much where he is. Would love Harbaugh, but I don't think any of those are going to happen.

I understand why Mullen and Strong would be high on the list, but they seem more risky with the lack of head coaching experience.

And then, there is the dreadful, soon-to-be-fired Dick Rod who on the surface could come right in and put the offense back on track (the personnel is there).

You really want to run the 3-3-5 defense?

Who does he think he it, Brett Favre?

I would be highly disappointed if OSU ever hired Urban Meyer as their head coach.

Just curious as to why. Do you know him personally?

I too agree, after last year's resignation then come back and now resigning again first there is no dependability there. I mean it almost to me appears that he can't handle not being on top. Gets whacked by Bama in SEC title game resigns. Comes back as they are preseason ranked 3, finishes 7-5 resigns. That is why!

Umm...no. What I fear (and this is not in any way based on facts) is that Dick Rod gets fired and for some reason that one tiny relevance leads him to the Florida sideline. In my household, that would be about as poetic as it could get if you aren't on my side.

Before he quit this time - or if he hadn't quit the first time - would you have felt the same way? And just for the record, I get it, I'm not arguing the opinion. I just wonder if there's more to it or if that is the only issue you'd have.
