I would be surprised of the law wasn't similar in Connecticut.

Funny because I would be the last person to file a lawsuit. But I think it's just pathetic how these news organizations just run with any little rumor out there and look at how quick something like this blows up. Then the player is looked upon in a bad light regardless of whether there is any substance to it. Where is the credibility in the media and who is patrolling them? No one has to reveal their sources and no one is held accountable.

News credibility has been out the window years ago. The media is pathetic. And who is patrolling them? No one.

That being said, I wouldn't go brushing none of this story aside just yet. Especially with the way Cam and his dad have dodged questions and not directly denied some things. I still think there is something to these stories.

How has anyone in the media (at least the major mainstream media) acted unethically or maliciously in this story? They have only reported that there were accusations made against him, and they have continued to report as more information has come out.

    this is how i feel.

2 people claiming to be recruiting employees of the university filing a complaint said this, i think they ran with it, but nothing too harsh has gone on here. IMO it's only irresponsible reporting when smoke clears and newton is still clean.

Which validates my point earlier. Don't hold the Heisman from him, and don't ban the school from the NCG, unless you have proof and the investigation is over.

I'm hearing on Cowherd that the FBI is now involved in the Newton investigation, that's not a good thing for anyone.

strangely there is no mention of it on ESPN.com.

How about the reports that he had been suspended by the NCAA on Tuesday?

Auburn is having a press conference at 3 pm today....

I don't know why everyone is ready to just hand the Heisman to Newton, Pryor is the better QB, his team has one loss(but so will Auburn once they play a good team), and he plays in a tougher conference(not a joke conference with media inflated rankings).

Give me TP any day, bank it.

That was ONE blogger who took something another blogger said WAY out of context, and he corrected the story within a few hours. Remember, I said major mainstream media (like ESPN, FOX Sports, Yahoo! Sports, etc), not bloggers.

    Hmm, no?

TP Rose Bowl Champion and MVP

Cam Newton, ineligible player playing on mediocre team in a mediocre conference, will end the season with minimum 2 losses.

    Who would you pick?

So what came out of the Auburn press conference other than the AD saying Auburn would have no comment on Newton's status for the game against Georgia?
  • Speedofsand
Auburn AD just answered "no comment" when asked about Newton's status tomorrow.

bleacher report has something up on it too.

i'll try to pull it in. but it is riddled with grammatical/spelling errors.

Bleacher Report via Alabama Voodoo wrote:The Office of the Southeastern Conference when contacted via phone today answered my following questions:

Is Cam Newton suspended or be ruled ineligible? Contact Auburn University.

Why did the SEC wait so long to address the Allegations made by MSU? No Comment.

The best player in the past 50 years in the SEC is possibly suspended in November, yet the Conference has been aware of recruiting allegations since January? No Comment.

Will Mike Slive hold a press conference to address the worst week in SEC History? No Comment.

How about the state of the Mississippi State Football Program? No Comment.

Source says Cecil Newton admitted to having discussions with MSU about pay to play. Says no money was paid and no such discussions with Auburn took place. Newtons have cooperated with NCAA and turned over personal bank information as well as bank information from churches Cecil is involved with.
