2010 Preseason Heisman Watch List

as an OSU fan also, I agree with Fat Hobbit's post...my only point coming into this was that,IMO, TP should be mentioned in the pre-season Heisman discussion. Some candidates pan out, some don't--some candidates win the trophy because of the system they are in,while others win it in spite of it.

Saine doesn't have the durability to get what he needs to be a Heisman candidate.
Sure is easy to criticize Tressel right now. We'll see if its that easy when Pryor is done in two years. If he goes on to do great things, lead OSU to a title...people like you will eat crow. If not, then you can jump back up on your pedistal, pound your chest and say I told you so.
In all fairness, I didn't take his post as a knock, I took it more as his evaluation of Pryor. Everyone is entitled to their analysis of Pryor.

I thought it was laughable when he said he didn't want Pryor at UM, but he's a UM fan so it's whatever.

As I just said, I do expect OSU to make a run at a National Championship in each of the next two years, and it might be because of Pryor, but it could also be because of their overall level of talent. When your QB has games when he throws 5 passes and you win convincingly, it is obvious that you are not relying on him to win games for you.

As for Tebow a better runner, he had 217 attempts last year for 910 yards. Pryor had 162 for 779 yards.

So yes, one could say Tebow is a better runner without losing credibility. Is Pryor a more fluid athlete? Absolutely. But Tebow is more opportunistic and a smarter player.

There are several examples every year of QB's who are really good, but they play on average teams and they can't even sniff the Heisman trophy. I think Pryor was a decent QB last year, but lately it's very rare to have anyone win who isn't playing in the title game. OSU has the talent to be there, so that's why I think Pryor could be in the mix for the Heisman.

I don't even think we really disagree here, but you seem to want to focus on Pryor not being the best QB in the country and I'm focusing on the Heisman rarely going to someone who isn't in the title game.

Isn't that exactly what Tebow did to win the Heisman? I'm in no way comparing him to Tebow, but you don't have to be an excellent "downfield passer" to win the Heisman. If you have paid any attention to past winners, it often goes to the best player on the best team. Given OSU's stature in the college football world and the talent they bring back this year, it definitely is a possibility that Pryor is in the Hesiman running. In fact, lets bring this thread back in July/August when Vegas sets odds on the Heisman winner. I guarantee Pryor is in the top 3-4 names.
interesting that 0 haters have a response to this.

I don't think so either. I guess maybe I just think it's ironic.
