2010 Preseason Heisman Watch List

  • Lovejoy1984
    I agree with True.

Having Brantley even in the top 25 is quite homerish at this point. He's started 0 games, no one knows how good he is. He could be another Alex Smith, or he could be Steve Bellisari kinda hard to tell at this point.

However based on the Oregon game alone, Pryor deserves to be in the top 5.

    Along with

    1.) Ingram
    2.) Dion Lewis
    3.) Pryor
    4.) Locker
    5.) Moore.

What the fuck does any of that horseshit you posted gibber have to do with the fact that Brantley should be considered ahead of a guy who just won the fucking Rose Bowl on a pre-season #2 ranked team...?

    God you're inane

As of right now you have to put Barkley in that spot, playing in that USC system and the skills he has and the media's love for USC. Brantley shouldn't be in the discussion until he wins some games this year.
    Not even close...
Good argument. Pryor will lead the Buckeyes to another 1 or 2 loss season this year with even better stats than he had in 09, to say that, going into his senior year he won't be in the top 3 in the Heisman race is ridiculous. Lewis is a beast and will be in the top 3. As of RIGHT NOW, for 2011, the only other person out there that really shows that "flash" (who has experience and has actually played a whole season, and in big games) is Barkley. Brantley hasn't done 1 damn thing. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. What are his career stats? Tot.: 28 18 235 64.3 1 3 38 163.00

There is nothing, NOTHING, that puts him in the convo right now. Absolutely nothing.

What puts Terrelle Pryor in the Top 5?? NOTHING
    For 2011? His curve does....

It hinges on 2010, of course, but to put an absolute unknown in the equation is ridiculous. Brantly has thrown 28 passes in his career. To put that on his shoulders is insane. Just like the people who put it on Pryor's shoulders when he was a true frosh.

There will NEVER be another 2-time Heisman winner as long as Archie Griffin is still alive, I mean if Tebow(whom the media sucked off for 4 years) can't do it, then certainly Ingram won't.

As far as Pryor, I could see it if Ohio State goes undefeated, and I think Locker, Lewis, and Mallet all are in it as well.

    Brantley? LOL
If Ingram is even close to his stats from last year and they go undefeated...THERE IS NO WAY THEY CANT GIVE IT TO HIM

I agree with Sleeper here. Unless there is some kind of phenom (like Tebow) there won't be another 2 time winner. IF, and it's a big IF, OSU goes undefeated it will probably because Pryor finally evolved into the Vince Young type player everyone thought he was.... which = Heisman... easily.

Didn't we learn form last year Pryor is not the stud QB we thought he would be? If he wins the Heisman throwing slants and knife screens all day, I'll be disappointed.
  • gibby08
Terrelle Pryor WILL NOT win the Heisman trophy this year. He wont even come close

Let says Ohio State(not likely),Boise State, and Alabama all go undefeated. Ingram and Moore will finish WAY ahead Pryor....

You're probably right...I mean, your assessment of Evan Turner was spot on.

Okay, let's say Florida (not likely), Ohio State and Boise State all go undefeated. Ingram, Moore and Pryor will still finish WAY ahead of Brantley.

Basically I want to admit that your "thoughts" are wrong.

Thoughts? He can't possibly think before he posts.

There is no honest way you can put ANY player in the Heisman race based on a Spring Game.

I think Bam Childress would have been top 5 going into every season if we did that.

How the hell is Mallet in the top 5 of the OP?

He played like crap against the good teams on the roster.

I am going with Ingram, Lewis, and Williams. There will be a RB winning the Heisman this season.

    I agree

I also think Locker is going to have a huge year
Never have understood what people see in Locker. Reminds me almost exactly of another Jay Cutler. He's been the best player on a mediocre at best team the last few years like Cutler was at Vandy, so of course he's going to stand out. His numbers are good, but they're nothing overly impressive, and given the fact that guys like Ingram, Lewis and Moore are returning (and throwing in guys like Pryor, who on a team like OSU if they go undefeated and he has good stats, is going to get a ton of publicity vs. a team like Washington) I don't see how he has a shot in hell of finishing in the top 5. College football polls AND awards are designed to reward those who start the highest, and Washington and Locker neither one are going to start high enough this year to win anything (other than the Rose Bowl if they win the PAC10). As we saw last year, all the top teams have to do is NOT lose, and they're in the NC game; similarly, all the top 5 pre-season heisman candidates have to do is not tank and have a horrible year, and they're pretty much going to be the top 5 at the end of the year. The system is designed that way, and while probably not "fair", that's the breaks when you play on a team like Washington or Vandy.

Why? Jason White won a heisman at Oklahoma and threw maybe 15-20 passes over 20 yards all year long.

Zach Collaros should be in the top 10. Look at what he did last year with limited playing time.

    93/124 for a 75% completion
    1434 passing yards (11.57 yards/rec) 344 rushing yards (6/carry)
    10 Passing TD's 4 Rushing TD's and 2 interceptions.

    QB rating 195.5

This year he has what ESPN has called the "best WR crew in the country". He may set some more records this year. He already holds the Big East record for most yards in a game at 555.

While I agree that Zach has put up major numbers, UC will have to go undefeated for him to be in contention which I highly doubt.

I would say thats a fair statement. UC is either going to have to go Unbeaten or at least beat Oklahoma and finish with one loss for ZC to have a chance. Although Tony Pike was mentioned early on last year before his injury.

Nah I disagree, but I think he has to go the first few games with the same type of performance with all the pressure being on HIS shoulders solely

Love when the UC homers come out...

He won't sniff the Heisman even if he breaks a shitload of passing records, he plays in the Big East, and like it or not, the conference has no credibility in football.

The problem guys like Calloros and Pike have is they play in a 'system" oriented offense. Were it not for that guys like Case Keenum at Houston would have won it hands down.

Can you please show me a quarterback anywhere that doesn't play in a "system"?
  • ytownfootball
You show me a Graham Harrel, Tommy Chang type QB having success in the NFL and I'll explain the "system" moniker to you.
