Mahoning Valley teams in 09-10

cmhs_prideSports...I do not mean afraid in the sense of afraid to play them in basketball.
We have always carried the rep of "A BAD PLACE TO BE". Always will carry that rep as if there are 20 murders outside the high school building a year. I have been in way too many conversations and listened to people. I know it is not the politically correct thing to say on here...but we get in our little groups and the stereotyping always comes out. Oh well....you'll have that.
As for our fans...they are pathetic. Plain and simple. I cannot go because of what I do. But there are tons that do not go...but show up at tourney time. I don't know...to each his own I guess. -
sonnyblackAkron Manchester and East Canton are new to the Salem District, or at least i can't remember those schools being there. I see Lisbon is gone, are there any others that got reassigned?
There was a nice student turnout from Campbell last night at the Falls game.
How 'bout Struthers 12-2 ? Coach Savko is doing one hell of a job over there, very glad for him (Pride I know you feel the same), great guy. -
soupcity99Thier was some redistricting this year with some teams moving up and down divisions. I cant remember the last time East Canton was in the Salem district or Akron Manchester. I know Manchester was in the regionals one year that campbell was down in Canton. I beleive Campbell lost that year to Bedford Chanel in the regional champoinship.
-
GoPensThe OHSAA checks the enrollment numbers and move teams up and down a division every 2 years. The district will have the same teams next year as well.
-
cmhs_prideSonny...an earlier post on this thread had me tossing out a prediction that Coach Sav and company were going to open eyes this year. I knew he would put that program in the right direction.
-
sonnyblackAccording to the OHSAA website, the Salem District winner will face the Warren District winner in the Regionals, interesting......
-
cmhs_prideIsn't that how it worked last year....or was it that the winner of both districts would meet in the regionals only if they made it to the finals??
-

I believe last season Labrae was the winner of the Warren district. And they faced Cleveland Central Catholic (I could be wrong as to Labrae's opponent) in the first round of the regionals. Campbell followed the Labrae game with the game vs. Smithville. So things are set up differently this year. Of course, why even worry about the regionals at this point. -
wgh raideri thought thats the way things rotate but in the D1 cleveland state regional they have the matchups exactly the same as last year.
-
bulldog8Can anyone clarify who Canfield's losses were to this year? I am aware that they are 11-2 with a loss to Mooney, but for the life of me can't remember who the other loss was. Both Canfield's losses were out of conference opponents, so Poland will have to beat them the last game of the season for a share of the title - considering that neither lose any games prior to their February 26th matchup.

CardsFlyinHighi believe Lake was the other loss

Much appreciated cardsflyinhigh. I noticed the conference rankings and records in yesterday's newspaper and was surprised to see that the Cards were 11-2. My dad and I couldn't figure out for the life of us who actually beat those guys. What a great win for your team two weeks ago against the Dogs. After seeing the Cards put up about 50 a game for the first couple weeks of the season, I didn't think they stood a shot against Poland's run and gun style. Who woulda thought that they would put up 96 against Poland? A true testament to how great a rivalry this is, how great of a gameplan Coach Cullen drew up, and most importantly, how brilliantly executed that plan was by the young men of Canfield. Best of luck the rest of the season, until February 26th of courseCardsFlyinHigh wrote: i believe Lake was the other loss -

Its always a show when the Battle of 224 goes down. Gris has really developed something nice at Poland and I've said for years that it's just a shame they arent in the same district. You guys have a great team and really good players. Hope you guys can go 25-2 this year.bulldog8 wrote:

sonnyblackCampbell got all they wanted from a scrappy Brookfield team tonight, Devils win ugly 59-51. Scoring: Cm 9-6 after 1; Cm 23-19 half; Cm 34-33 end 3; and the final Cm 59-51. Campbell did not shoot well at all tonight, which is one of the reasons Brookfield was able to hang around. Brookfield actually took a 1 point lead late in the 3rd, before Campbell answered. Campbell's defense harrassed Brookfield all night, causing many turnovers, just too quick. Jerahme and Nate took over in the 4th qtr. Congratulations to Jerahme Williams for scoring his 1000th point tonight.

cmhs_prideThat is a big honor for Williams. Congratulations to him. He has been fun to watch during his career at Campbell.
Campbell needs to turn it up a notch on another note and finish this season going full throttle into districts. What exactly is their record this year. Overall, in the AAC, and in the Blue Tier? They only have I believe 4 games left......thanks to the complete dropping of the ball by the scheduler. Way to go A.D. -
sports_talkCongrat to williams for 1000. An amazing accomplishment. Campbell has a very nice team. THe Hodge kid just makes them go. To me he is 1 off the top 10 kids in the area.

Pride, first of all, I agree with you on the scheduling issue. I can't think of a legitimate reason as to why Campbell has just 18 regular season games this year. Secondly, here is a complete breakdown on the season thus far:cmhs_pride wrote: That is a big honor for Williams. Congratulations to him. He has been fun to watch during his career at Campbell.

soupcity99Congrats to Jerehame Williams for reaching 1000 points. I think whats even more impressive is the way he did it. He has developed nicely from a starting point guard as a freshmen to being one of the main offensive weapons scoring within the flow of thier offense. It's n ot shabby either when you have a chance to win districts and advance to regionals possibly 3 of his 4 years as a red devils. The red devils are one of the most successfull programs around these days!!!

sonnyblackCongratulations to the Devils on their road victory over the Labrae Vikings 68-53, on a very difficult night. Prayers go out to Coach D and his family with the passing of his mother yesterday. Theres a nice article in the Trib on last nights events.

cmhs_prideGuys the calling hours are at Wasko on Friday from 4 to 7 pm I believe. Talked to Coach V. today at work for 15 minutes. The funeral is Saturday. God Bless the Danilov family.
I wonder how the Devils respond here. This will be an emotional run from here on in. His mom was very important to him. Prayers for you Coach D.!!!!!!!!!! -
