Love watching a game in Campbell's gym but maybe we can get Coach D to move the game to Salem...I'm sure you'd like to get a game on your tournament floor under your belt right before tourney time...:D

Hey guys, tell me what this scholarship is for?

I literally just got done reading an article that leaves me completely speechless. "My God" is all I kept saying. God Bless his family and friends.

It was a very sad summer here in Salem after the high of him and his teammates winning the state title to this...

    Bump.

BigDean, I emailed you the schedule I received.

Is it just me or do we have a hell of time talking basketball in the Mahoning Valley??? It's early though and I know...I know...we usually do not get into the core of conversation until tourney time.

I think the Quakers lost in the Huffman benefit game last night to Wellsville. Don't know much about it though, and I'm pretty sure it was strictly for the benefit. Great cause. But unfortunately I hear the Quakers aren't at full strength and won't be for awhile--maybe all season, I don't know the extent of it.

Thanks sonnyblack. Cincinnati Princeton vs. Campbell in the Ironton Classic this year. If I had a helicopter I would fly down there to watch those games in Ironton.

The talk will heat up as the weather cools down. I'll be listening in at work on Friday to the Mooney-DeSales football game. After that, Mooney comes to Campbell for a friendly game of hoops on December 11th.

Yes Salem 69 Wellsville 73 it was a good scrimmage for a good cause.

Salem now 3 - 0 on the season, although the competition has not been that good thus far. Home tomorrow vs. Niles --- keep it going Quakers !

I am thinking Champion gave them all they wanted? Maybe it is not the comp and Salem just average?

Salem played poorly in the first qtr/ first half. Once they found their rhythm they put the game away in the 3rd qtr - and then led by as many as 25; JV's played much of the 4th. We do lack heighth and that will be a problem in some games. We still have a lot of room for improvement; then again we are young - starting all underclassmen.

I'm not quite sure if Salem is ready to be considered in the Valley's elite yet. By the looks of it, Salem should be very strong in the next couple years due to the youth of this year's team and the experience they are gaining with so many underclassmen playing. It's good to see the Quakers back on the map, not only in football, but also in bball.

Salem is missing a key player as well. Not to mention the fact that my grandma would be a better coach.

What we do lack in heigth we do make up for with athletic abilty, but still a 6'7 man in the middle would be nice.

Should be a good game tomorrow against Niles.

I said this before the season to sportstalk. I see Struthers as a definite pain in the butt, and thus far....they have proven me right.

I agree that Struthers is going to give most teams fit. THey can be a mother and run for 32 minutes. They are not elite by any means but very good. But what teams are really elite?

I would also put Campbell in this categorie. Saw them play Mooney. WIth out the four 3's in a row by Mooney it would have been a different finish. Campbell is real, real good. So is Mooney.

We will see how good Struthers really is tonight when they play Poland. Thus far, Poland has beat Lakeview 98-39 and Louisville 76-65. Not many believe me yet, but this is by far the best team Poland has had since they went to states to play Lebron in 2001. They are very experienced, they play 8-10 guys, they press for 32 minutes, and will out-hustle any team in the area. They stand at 6'6" and 6'5" under the boards but both are very lanky and run extremely well. The addition of Darius Patton this season makes all the difference. He has averaged 18 a game in Poland's first two games and provides a nice dribble-penetration threat to kick the ball out to Niko Fatimus behind the arc. Niko has averaged 22 in his first two games for the Dogs. Although it's only 2 games into the season, Poland will definitely be one of the top teams in the area. Coach Grisdale finally has the perfect group to run Upper Sandusky's fast-break and full-court press style of play.
