2009 2010 Suburban Lakes League basketball

bwcomet89^^I agree. If Genoa, Eastwood, or Otsego, or if all of them win I would not be suprised. I suppose I can wait 3 hours to see if I have to eat my words lol.
-
insuranceguy^^^ All 3 lost by double digits. Case closed.
-
insuranceguyOk no SLL teams in districts. Top 4 all lost by double digits. Can we please start to realize this is the worst the league has ever been!!!!!!!!
-
ross ford81No, I think you need to tell us about 15 more times...
-
royal_kOg over Elmwood 78-54.
Really no shocker here. Except the fact that OG made 13-16 3's through 3 quarters. I've never seen shooting like that from a HS team. One kid, Josh Johnson, hit 6-6 if I counted right. Probably one of the most fundamentally sound teams I've seen in a long time. They will be hard to beat in this district. I've seen LB and this team looks better. Their press really speeds you up and makes you play at their pace. They force bad passes and bad shots and make you pay. -

Someone please tell me why this guy has such a hard-on for the SLL. Sexual confusion? Someone who didn't make the team, back when he/she went to school? Just a plain dumbass?insuranceguy wrote: Ok no SLL teams in districts. Top 4 all lost by double digits. Can we please start to realize this is the worst the league has ever been!!!!!!!! -

I think you may be on to something. Either that or its a parent of a kid who got cut.Ghmothwdwhso wrote:

Eastwood very easily could have won the game tonight if Rolf wasn't in foul trouble. He played about the first 5:50 of the first quarter, then a minute in the 2nd, minute in the 3rd, and finally fouled out with 5:50 left in the 4th quarter. Libbey had no answer for him underneath. I didn't think going into it that Eastwood would be able to hang with them but they played pretty well. Too many turnovers and missed free throws were too much to overcome with Rolf acting as a spectator for most of the game. -
royal_kThat's too bad. I really thoiught Eastwood would win this game. I talked to a guy that had seen both Libby and Eastwood. He pretty much said he wouldn't be surprised and it wouldn't be an upset if Eastwood beat them. That's why I posted that earlier today.

bwcomet89Genoa ran into a buzzsaw tonight. I have never seen the Comets shoot so well, and at the same time I've never seen a team hit so many 3's so efficiently. Evergreen played the drive and dish to perfection and Genoa had no answer. Congrats to Evergreen on a great game, they came to play and deserves the win. I hope the best for them from here on out. I will let someone else talk about the referee problem. It was terrible for both sides.
-
insuranceguy^^^ Yea refs were bad both ways. Didnt let either team play. No I dont have a kid or any ties to a team at all. And I'm to old to worry about sex. Although thats a good one. The point is it seems basketball is really been put on the back burner in the SLL for about 10 years now. What upsets me is that people are accepting it. I watch teams from other leagues and they understand the game and play together as a team. The SLL has lost this concept. I go way back to the beginning of the SLL and there have been some great teams. All leagues will have up and downs. But this is too far down. And the frustrating part is people are accepting it as if its ok. By people I mostly mean coaches. The talent is there but coaching is not. If you dont speak up to the proper people, which I have, nothing will change. Just saying oh well wont fix it for the kids. They deserve better.
-
riderbbFace it, basketball falls about 5th in this league, to football, baseball, track and wrestling.
-
insuranceguy^^^^Agreed

Classyposter58Well I don't think I've ever seen us play a better offensive game this year and Bassitt really saved his best for last because he really played amazing. Unfortunately we had no answer for them on the defensive end at all. They rotated the ball so well and they were so aware it was unbelievable. They always found the open man and their fastbreak was a thing of beauty. We have nothing to hang our heads on because the fact is Evergreen was just a better team. As for that technical last night on Wonnell that was the proper call. The rule is if it is intentional and not an attempt at a block then it is a T and he hit the backboard on the other side of the hoop so it was the right call. Now the rest of the game was horribly called. Too many tick tack fouls called and both sides were very frustrated
-
clickclickboom^^ hey chief he missed barely missed the block and the kid blew the layup on his side how is that on the other side of the hoop?
-
lhs2ndbaseI watched the Delta/Otsego game last night, and if it was the same crew on the nightcap, those guys were def. some clowns. I was just a neutral fan but Otsego got the raw deal on a few occasions last night. It was the first time I watched Weisenborn in person, and all I can say is the kid is a player. Smoyer had some open looks but IMO was a little frustrated as he turned the ball over a few times. Those misses were the difference along with the Beverly kid from Delta hitting from deep.
Two great careers also wrapped up friday on the court. With only baseball left Rolf and Bassit have achieved a lot of great things in the last 3 years in 3 different sports. Crazy accomplishments especially with how rare the 3 sport athletes are anymore. -

I am going to give my two thumbs up to the parents of these athletes today. From Eastwood, Elmwood, Genoa, Lake, Otsego, whereever....I have heard only good things about the athletes. Sure a 16-18 year old kid will mess up here or there. However, I haven't heard much of it.lhs2ndbase wrote: Two great careers also wrapped up friday on the court. I am not shocked that no SLL team won. Does that mean we have a bad league, not in the least. This just means that basketball is not the most important sport in our league. Different leagues favor different sports. The SLL is a football baseball type league.
Classy- I agree with you on Bassitt. I have never seen a basketball game played better than he did last night out of any year I can remember. Hands down the MVP of our team and hands down one of the best basketball players to ever play at our school. Its a shame that the league shorted him of the awards. He is a great player, better person. Like I said, same can be said with many of these athletes and it makes me proud as a parent. You have youngsters walking around going up to these athletes and looking up to them. As a parent, I am honored to have my children look up at these athletes today.
Standing ovation to the parents of these athletes! -

He is a really good player. It was fun watching him 2 times this year.lhs2ndbase wrote: I was just a neutral fan but Otsego got the raw deal on a few occasions last night. It was the first time I watched Weisenborn in person, and all I can say is the kid is a player. -
lhs2ndbaseany offseason rumblings? any coaches stepping down or being non renewed?

Classyposter58I hear Lakes coach is out

clickclickboomGOLFPRO the statement you made about Bassitt is not only uneducated but also extremely stupid. Bassit is not a good basketball player at all. He shoots the ball everytime he gets it and he's the point guard thats a pretty bad combo when it comes to the TEAM he'll get his 30 points on 40 shots(over exaggeration) but at the same time he'll have 8 TOs and 4 assists when Genoa lost the 2nd game to Elmwood and was takin out of the title race Matthew decided to pad his stats by shooting all the time and instead of playing defense he would merely reach for the ball and when he'd miss the steal just kinda fade to mid court. so he could get a layup and the guy had a hell of a time when the game was in his hands. 4 games stand out in my mind very vividly. Eastwood both times Otsego at home and the Clyde game. where the ball was put in his hands and he turned it over. or against Otsego he was determined to guard Weisenborn who 30 seconds later made the buzzer beater to beat Genoa. So best player to ever play at Genoa is a laughable statement.
-
bwcomet89I'm sure that statement will get a few responses lol. As far as the best player in Genoa history? Ron Hammye. Period. End of discussion.

Who do you think will fill the job?Classyposter58 wrote: I hear Lakes coach is out
Hopefully they will do a thorough job at researching candidates and not fall back into the old Lake style of fill from within, or hire one of the admins buddies. That stuff has been going on too long, and will get them nowhere. -
Classyposter58
Ha o come on he is a good player. His shot may not be that great but god can he drive the lane well. He knew how to get to that basket well and if it wasn't for him we would have had absolutely no offense. Idk who will get the job but I think they should do the same thing Woodmore did in football and go for a guy who has been an assistant under a very good coachGhmothwdwhso wrote:
