Old Rider
Yes that was him. Stepped out of bounds on a drive to the baseline.riders1;1112966 wrote:Is that the kid that got the reboundl under the basket with his foot out of bounds, but the ref did not see it, and they went on and held on for the win.
and notice "Red Raiders" in the article. -
golfman61If I recall didn't we have like a 9 point lead in the 4th quarter of that game?
-
riders1Campbell got their first lead with 24 seconds to go in the game, I'll have to search the achives for more info on that game.
-
RedRider1If memory serves, we had control most of the game...similar to the Wellington game this past Friday. Campbell was able to make that late game run & while we had good players, not a "need a bucket" type of guy. Denson & Ray were guys like that later on, but not as freshmen on that team.
-
Old RiderI was involved with some losses while playing in high school, but that one still stings the most.
Does anyone remember their players running up into the stands after the game was over and starting a brawl with some spectators? That was classy and if I remember correctly none of their players were suspended heading to Columbus...how ironic. -
RedRider1Funny how we remember the losses isnt it.
In football, we remember the 84 loss to Elyria Catholic & the 99 loss to Poland. Both were state semifinal games.
In basketball, we remember tether Campbell game from 93, the Triway game from 2005 & plenty of others I'm sure.
For as many big games as we have won, we remember the ones that hurt the most. -
CCRollyTo the earlier question about Wooster and boys basketball District Championships. They had one in the 50's or 60's, and another one in 2004 at Copley, or somewhere in that time frame. That's it. Wooster had a bunch of really good teams that were ousted by McKinley in Canton.

OK I found it. It was 2003 when the Generals beat Firestone, Stow, Green , and Hudson inthe sectioal/district, then lost in the regional semifinal to Cleve. Hts. who won the Regional but lost to Moeller in the state semis. Moeller won that year. I didn't recall seeing the regional on any banner at the gym.CCRolly;1114577 wrote:To the earlier question about Wooster and boys basketball District Championships. riders1To those going to the fieldhouse tonight, beware, the weather outside has been unseasonably warm, which means it will be really warm inside the fieldhouse. We went over for last nights DIV doubleheader and it was very hot in that place, the warmest I can remember for regional game. So dress lightly, shotsleeves probably.
-
CCRiderDoes anyone know - are we able to get in to watch the first game tonight, and stay until Orrville plays? Or do they make the second game fans wait outside until before game time?
-
THE4RINGZGood luck tonight Riders.
-
Old RiderCC..in years past they have let folks in early. I think its safe to assume that Chanel's crowd will be smaller than the other three teams playing...should be plenty of room.
-
riders1You can watch both games on your 1 ticket, but it will be hot inside, just like last night.
-
BRFWell it was a good effort.
We had our chances.
Good job Coach! -
THE4RINGZNice season Riders. You exceeded everyone's expectations.
-
Old RiderShot poorly and too many turnovers...and still have a chance to win.
I think Chanel will be too much for Berkshire's guards. Chanel by 20 -
riders1Great unexpected run this season. We were right there until the end and yes way to many turnovers, especially in the closing minutes when we were outscored 6-0 . Ball just didn't seem to want to bounce in on some shots, some shots shouldn't have been taken and some passes not made.
Congrats team on being only 1 of 12 teams to go this far in 90 years of Orrville basketball. Congrats Coach Slaughter on leading this team to a historic 3 straight regional appearance and putting the young men in a position to win even in the last game of the season. Great job Coach Slaughter. This season pushes Orrville's all-time win total up to 1084 wins, which should place us somewhere in about the top 30 to 35 teams in alltime wins. -
Old Rider^^^ Well said riders1.
I don't know if I would call our tourney run "unexpected". I expect a run like this every year and I think most Orrville fans would agree, but with those expectations is just added pressure for these kids to succeed. But thats what Orrville sports are all about.
Players, coaches, and fans EXPECT nothing less than a winning program and a successful tournement run!
Also, lets not kid ourselves...playing in the Wooster District has made life easier in the tournement as well! -
REDRIDER555Not saying it’s a game changer but when Drew had the ball in the air, going out of bounds it looked like he called time out, in time, but I could not see from where I was at, was his foot out or did the ref’s just miss the call.
-
riders1Just saying that in December, looking at what this team lacked, consistent guard playmakers and outside shooting, nobody could see another 7-13 team going to regionals.
That is what hurt us in most games and really hurt us last night. This was definitely not the top 12 talented team in Orrville history, but it was good to see this run through 3 of the 4 top seeds in district along the way. Time to reload, and being DIII and in this district has really been a help as we should continue to win sectionals and who knows what will happen in districts as it appears there are still alot of teams that don't want to jump into our side of the bracket, no matter what our record. Get your kids working on their outside shots  -

I am not sure they are allowing the timeouts on airborne plays anymore as I don't recall many being allowed this season.REDRIDER555;1117087 wrote:Not saying it’s a game changer but when Drew had the ball in the air, going out of bounds it looked like he called time out, in time, but I could not see from where I was at, was his foot out or did the ref’s just miss the call. -
rrfanVery proud of the job the Coaches did this year. It was a nice run and the Rider faithfull love it. Good job men.

RedRider1Thought Rider fans might like this...the all-time leading scorers in Wayne/Holmes Co. Boys Basketball history.

This was compiled using the Daily Record's published list from Feb. 2011...adding in the final points tallied by Zach Wasson & Brennan McKean and also adding Hiland's Kauffman & Bonifant upon the completion of their great careers. -
BRFGood reading, RR1!

FlashWest Holmes may be the only school record in jeopardy the next couple years with Brady Arnold having a chance. Anyone know his total after 2 years?
