Coach_08^^yes Northwest and Smithville, I am not sure on Carrollton?

Yes, it was announced back in June 2011 , effective 2012-13 season.RedRider1;1077666 wrote:I think that's a done deal. Not 100% sure but thought I read that in the OHSAA board minutes within the last year. -

Hopefully not in the Hoover Mercy Medical classic, that was down to only 4 games on Saturday and Sunday this year from a 3 day event, and overpriced tickets for the lousy games they had. I have basketball junkie friends, that I have seen at those games , and all say they skipped this year.Riderwannabe;1077683 wrote:i heard we play Northwest in the smitty classic, Carrollton in the hoover classic and Smithville. -
RedRider1Here is the 2012-13 Boys Basketball Schedule.
Riders1, the game vs. Carrolton is the Timken Mercy Classic. Guessing that's the same one you're mentioning.
For the record, we now will be playing 3 of the 8 WCAL teams in a season. Norwayne, Nw'n & Smithville.

Old RiderThis may be the toughest 5-game stretch of the season coming for the Red Riders...
@-Madison 2/10
H-Senior 2/17
H-Wadsworth 2/18
@-Nwstrn 2/21
@-Lex 2/24
I think all the road games are winnable and if we can grab 1 home win and get 4 out of 5 that would be a great way to end the season. Keep working hard guys! -
riders1Tough games help to get a team ready for tournaments, just play hard 4 quarters and don't let up.
Does anyone know if the seedings on Sunday is open to the public? -
RedRider1I bet not...wouldn't hurt to email Wooster AD to find out for sure. I'd like to observe one of these in person sometime.

From what I know, I would say that they are not open to the public... but I've never really asked, so don't know for sure. I've been to one basketball seeding, but only because I was asked to go with one of our coaches. I've also been to 3-4 baseball tournament seedings as a coach, which are basically done the same way as basketball (but with sectionals seeding in different locations & using different halves of the bracket). In all the instances, the only people at the seeding were the moderator/tournament director and the coaches/admins.riders1;1078778 wrote:Does anyone know if the seedings on Sunday is open to the public?
With the more media-friendly and urgent everything is becoming nowadays, I have a feeling they'll eventually be more open. But maybe they already are. If someone finds out, please post. Thanks.
Honestly, you're not missing much.RedRider1;1078880 wrote:I'd like to observe one of these in person sometime.
1. Show up in an empty school on a Sunday afternoon.
2. Find your way through the dimly lit hallways to a classroom or empty gymnasium.
3. Write your team's record on the board, including overall record and record against each division.
4. Sit amongst 10-15 other coaches.
5. When they ask for 1st place votes, write your #1 team on a piece of paper, fold it, and turn it in.
6. Moderator/Tournament director tallies votes and writes #1 team on board.
7. Allow that team to pick their spot on the bracket.
8. Repeat Steps 6-7 for all teams in the district.
9. Socialize amongst fellow coaches and colleagues.
10. Leave the school and arrive home in time for lunch with the family. -
riders1I know the DI and DII were at the Canton Fieldhouse and were on the gym floor and players and fans sat in the bleachers and watched and made out their brackets from those available from the tourney people. I have never gone to the DII at Wooster so don't know if fit is open to the public. But it is interestin gto see how coaches study the open spots and pick their spots.

riders1Anyone else spot Bobby Knight around Orrville today. He was being filmed at the library earlier.
-
Old RiderI also heard that while the film crew was in town they were heading to Apple Creek to a wood flooring manufacturer. This flooring company just made the floor for the NBA dunk contest and is now in the process of making the final four floor.
The company is located in the building that Dean and Denny Reusser own near the park. The former stone business. -

Old Rider^^^ It took me that many times to type it correctly.
Heard that Coach Knight stopped in at practice for a little motivational speech. Might as well run the practice while he is at it. -

RedRider1Hearing Feb 18th the Coach Knight stuff will be on ESPN. Guessing it will be during College Gameday.
-
Old RiderThe film crew was taping as he was instructing the boys on how to run the motion offense "correctly" and he made sure he "corrected" the boys as only Coach Knight knows how!
Great experience for the team and coaches! -

BRF was able to chat with the big man this morning. Always a pleasure. Sorry that his pre-game prep and talk didn't get us a win tonight. -

Yep Madison was shooting the lights out on 3's, and was the story in this game, which definitely made the 10 pt difference in the score. Guessing around 10 or more, 3 pointers made.RedRider1;1082636 wrote:Madison wins 65-55. Heard the Rams couldn't miss from 3 tonight. -
Ref-DawgI guess the help that Bobby Knight was giving for running the motion offense didn't help the kids at all tonight.
