    Let's play football....
    Just like football....

I just hope they don't do any sort of special recognition of the football team that night (banner raising, trophy presentation, etc.).

I don't usually post on here, but figure now is as good a time as any. Just enjoy reading. Saw great middle school game last night at Smithville. Their 8th grade team has some real talent. Those boys know the game and know how to hustle. I love watching these younger guys grow. They played Waynedale. Wow! They have some big kids (didn't see them play though) and must have had 20 kids, but only 5 of them played. Sad. Hate to see that.

Well good luck in the future Smithies.

Can we have some updates on here tonight after the games please? High scorers and a summary would be nice.

Honest question here...How many of the Norwayne football players that play basketball are "true" basketball players? Or is it a case of athletes that enjoy playing basketball?

What time are you all going to be at the Steve Smith classic tomorrow?

I will be there for the second half of the Triway game, and stay for the Northwestern game. Not sure after that, I have another committment later in the day.

Berger is a player. One of the best on the team. He can shoot inside and out. He also usually draws the best player on the other team defensively. That sometimes hurts his offesive performance but he's very unselfish. Maxwell makes it go and can hit the 3 when he gets rollin....also very tough defensively. He can torment point guards, Davis is big 6'6" or 6'7". His size will make him hard to handle. Wallace is a role player but is very strong. I think he'll be a double double machine also very tough defensively. Harris is the question mark because he's young, only a sophomore with 0 varsity experience but I think this is his sport. He's tall and skilled but he has some downside. He is very emotional. If you get in his head he unwinds. I think he will have a lot of success because the guys around him are tough. He doesnt have to carry the team. He can blend in and succeed without having to lead much like football. This starting 5 are going to be very good once they get in bball shape. They are big and physical. With the exception of Maxwell they are all 6'1" - 6'2" and taller. A lot of height, alot of speed and very physical.

Nice win by the Pups tonight (52-47). Chase played great and was really impressed with the Bulldog defense. Looking forward to seeing the 'cats on Tuesday!

yes good win for dalton tonight. Both coaches had to be frustrated with the missed free throws and bunnies on both sides, but was a good hard-fought game. Neither team looks to be very deep, but I have to give credit to the bulldog soph's who played much of the second when jake and chase were in foul trouble. Chase hit some flat out tough shots tonight - and he's not really in basketball shape yet. They also did a much better job getting the ball into troyer and bowe. Will be a tough one for them tuesday, but i am looking forward to checking out the new norwayne gym.

This will be the last of me posting on this thread.
I saw enough tonight for an entire season.
    Congrats tonight to Dalton.
    Smithville got outplayed and outcoached.
I am just tired of it.

From what I saw tonight, Norwayne is going to run the table in the WCAL in boys basketball. They are big and talented and fast. The only good thing for all us fans from other schools, is they have a ton of seniors! If they lose a game to anyone I will be surprised. Have not seen Dalton play yet but I can't imagine them hanging with the Bobcats for four quarters. Bears had flashes of good play but with almost all underclassmen, they would need to have played a perfect game just to hang with this team.

Norwaynes football players were definitely rough around the edges tonight but that is to be expected. The non football players did more than their share tonight. Nate Davis, Bryce Maxwell did a great job and Derek Fry was awesome off the bench. I think Brady Berger and Jon Maibach led the Fball players in scoring with 6 each. Maibach may have had 8 i'm not sure. Berger was also very effective on the top end of the press. He played awesome defense. I dont think Wallace scored and probably looked worse then any of the fball guys. Kaleb Harris also struggled. I dont think he scored and got into foul trouble. he may have hit a free throw or two. It was his first varsity game however. when these football players get it in shape Norwayne is going to be dangerous.

I agree with Havin Fun: Norwayne looked like this was their first game of the season and the football players are not tuned into basketball yet. Norwayne is to deep with talent for many teams to hang with them this year. The sophmore JV looked good also.

Dalton wins a big one last night against smithville very happy with the win and overall how we played. coach Stutz continues to do a great job with these guys even with losing the talent we had last year.
  • Havin Fun
What kind of size do Dalton and NW have? That is the only way anyone can hang with Norwayne is to neutralize their big guys. Wallace and Harris were rough and should get better. If not for size though, Harris would be on jv.
