2010-2011 Orrville Red Rider Basketball

  • lvhoops
I like Landis game, very steady. I think Neer is ready for some varsity time. He seems very comfortable around the basket. Has a good feel for the game.

Wonder if we'll see another different starting 5 tonight?
  • bb13
Well any updates on tonights game?

Had not seen what BRF has said about MItchell, but saw some tonight as he got some big rebounds and played hard. Big improvement in effort tonight even though we didn't win. If you don't play hard on this team your not playing and that was evident by the effort put out tonight. We still have a ways to go, but I think we improved in the last week and that's what you want. We have a tough schedule ahead with Norwayne tues. ( I think we can win this one).

Please let me know of any incorrect scores.
  • BRF
Just to show how tough our schedule has been, of our 5 losses, the opponent records are currently:

    Shelby at 8-0
    Senior at 5-2
    Hillsdale at 6-1
    Madison at 6-3
    Clear Fork at 6-1

On a positive note, the JV's moved to 5-1 with their win last night.
  • Mr. Russell
Saw Norwayne play last night. Lots of size, but very impatient on offense. It should be a good game on Tuesday.
  • OQB
Well do we start moving some of those JV boys up until the upper classmen decide they want to play basketball?

How well has our foul shooting been this year....probably not that good, am I right?
  • ridernation
If I recall correctly they were about 50% on friday
  • sman
I think its time to play anyone and everyone from the starting 5 jv. Could it be any worse? Enough is enough.....and foul shooting is so so. I'm just tired of the turnovers......just stop throwing the ball all over the place for crying out loud!!
  • BRF
I'm calling tomorrow night's game as the turning point in our season. Statement needs to be made and all know it. Roster changes happened today. That is all for now.

    Go Riders!
  • OQB
This is a huge game tonight....Orrville doesn't like to lose to county schools..in ANY sport, but we are already 0-1 this year, we can't give this game away too.

I am going to say this is a MUST WIN game, and I think the seniors need to step it up and start leading!
  • Riderfan
We need to press, press and then press some more.
  • OQB
started out 1-13...and the end of the first quarter it was a football score, 7-7 haha
  • OQB
    halftime it was Orrville 22-16
  • OQB
Orrville 51-47 late in the game....
  • OQB
    Pirman throws the hammer down!

    57-47 Orrville with a 1:17 to play.
  • OQB
Orrville wins....61-53 over the Norwayne Bobcats.

Sloppy start, but at this point a win is a win. Let's hope BRF is right and that this is a turning point for the season.

    Top 5 List:

    5. Most missed lay ups
    4. Bank shot from the deep corner
    3. Most team scouts at a game (Everyone else canceled)
    2. Lowest 1st quarter score in a guys game. 7-7.
    1. Most blocked shots
  • BRF
BRF checking in to make comments:

First off, we win with Wasson being held down and then BRF's other guys come through to the tune of Pirman, Mitchell (<--told ya!), Graber and Turner. Man, sure is nice to get a win!

    Now to disect previous posts:

OQB: I believe this really IS the turn around game. We have a tough one coming up with Lexington on Friday, though. But the "other guys" stepped up nicely tonight.

Flash: You made a great list. Geez oh Pete's, the missed shots........wow! And you made a good point as there were scouts all over the place! First quarter score.............man we only had 2 points for a LONG time. (however we did score 24 in the 3rd quarter!). We just couldn't shake them. The coach must be going nuts about all the missed shots. I heard we shot like 30% from the field and about 50% from the line.

10 or so blocked shots, though. I guess that's a positive. Oh well, we win and that's the important thing.

JV's move to 6-1. Near played all 4 quarters, along with Landis and Smith. Don't forget, OQB, that I also predicted that those three will be on the varsity and seeing some serious action before this season is over!

    Go Riders!

p.s. - BRF also enjoyed a little chit chat with our new OC stalwart, riders1. BRF also enjoyed not having to see series62 at the game critiquing every move made and thus not being able to make negative comments..................................but he will, soon. (<-prediction).
  • BRF
    One more thing:

    Final score: 61-53
  • OQB
haha nice post BRF! I agree those three will be coming up soon to get some varsity action....what about summers, or is he not ready for the big time yet?
  • riders1
35 points off the bench :), Pirman career night with 15 points ( 9 in the 3rd) , Turner and Mitchell with 7 and 9 off the bench :), Wasson in only 8 to 10 minutes and only 7 points ( 5 in the 4th) guys stepped it up and played well after a horrible start and a slow 4 minutes in the 4th, but finished well. 25 rebounds in the first half due to all the missed shots by both teams. Winters with a big game on the boards and blocks, 4 made 3 pointers including the bank shot by Mitchell from the corner :) way to many missed free throws, 50 % ???? and to many turnovers :(

First time breaking 60 all season. Bigger game this Friday against Lexington....then it's back to back Friday-Saturday games for 5 straight weeks.

If there's a time to start hitting on all cylinders, it's now.

Outside shooting is still a big concern. No one close to what we had last year with Jake. Liked Mitchell's play of late, kid is all hustle.
