BRFI'm talking about the senior Zook. Speaking of freshmen, the coach has stated that there will be no freshmen on varsity.
-
Coach 08BRF, speaking of the freshmen how r they doing this year so far, any idea?
-
BRFSorry, Coach, since my kids are older now, I haven't been able to follow the freshmen. But I didn't want to ignore your very good question. So I join you in asking. Anybody?
-
FlashThey've won all easily, except lost to Senior at Senior on Thurs. by a couple. The freshmen may be plan B, but I don't think they want to do that just yet. It ruins the pecking order by passing over players in reserve. If you're going to do that you need to bring them up to reserves first. Now if you did that then there's 5 players on the freshman team unless you had them play on both teams. Zook and Summers would be the candidates with Zook the more likely due to his guard status, but Summers has shooting in his genes. I don't think were quite ready to do that, but they came up in football and filled in nicely and if all else fails I'd give it a try at the end of the season.

Red ZoneNice update Flash. Great job freshmen!! Who are the other freshmen on the team?

I disagree BRF, I think you need both a good/strong regular season record and a good post season run should happen. Limping into the playoffs just makes it easier to give up in a tight game. The only way this scenario works is if your stud gets hurt or you’re a very young team. We have neither at this time.BRF;610947 wrote:Something that took me a long time to understand....it really doesn't matter what you do in the regular season. It's the post season that counts. Hopefully, we can turn it around and do it later. I kinda like the idea of us being 10-10, or worse, and doing some damage. -

Coach 08Hey Flash since we are still on the freshmen, who is the coach?

I hear ya. I was just trying to be somewhat positive, given our current record. -
ridernationThe one game I saw of the freshman game Zook was used as a post player, he is athletic put not a true "basketball player", runs the floor well, his touch is a little rough, maybe still in football mode, Summers did handle the ball well played both inside and out, definately looks basketball polished.
-
FlashI saw the Lexington game and Summers didn't play as much due to injury. Zook hasn't been used as a guard as much due to the fact Ritchie and Harrison have been doing that, but he can play forward or guard. Summers and Zook have both played AAU ball for years. In fact they have a home game Thurs. at 5:30 if anyone wants to watch.

lvhoopsUgly win last night. Ashland had 3 points in the first quarter. We decided to play everybody early then struggled the rest of the game. Thought the subbing was odd last night.
-
riders124 turnovers by Orrville and 5 made 3's to our 0 made it more interesting than it should be. I think we are still looking for the right combinations on the floor. Way to many lob passes by the guards leading to most of those turnovers. Story from the Ashland paper.

smansubbing probably will be odd til coach slaughter finds someone or a combination of kids who will defend, score consistently, and play bball hard for 4 quarters.
-
RedRider1^^I think we're getting closer to that.
Next game isn't until Jan. 7th (an actual home game)....so the next 10 days will be a good stretch to find the right guys. I like that the bench guys are getting some valuable playing time....that will only help down the road.
Last night was a win, which brings a little confidence...but plenty of work left to do. -

And so, on that note, sman....what do you think about Mitchell? I think he is pretty good. -
smanI think anyone who can score a little and take care of the ball and play solid defense should get a look!!! He is definatly quick and should be able to keep his guy in front of him!!
-
OQBAll quiet on the western front.....
-
BRFI think that Near, Landis and Smith are going to be used pretty soon and that some non-contributing starters are going to be sitting.
-
Red ZoneHow has the JV faired this year? Big game tonight for varsity. Go Riders!!!
-
Red ZoneAny updates on the 7 footer coming to Orrville?
-
RedRider1^^Have heard nothing...
First of 3 games in 8 days, all home. Will be nice to have a home game tonight, first since mid-December. Let's see what a week's worth of practice has done to this team. Still think we're playing disjointed and sloppy. A win makes 2 in a row and maybe the start of a nice streak.
