Homosexuality vs. religion

Con_AlmaI think that's the first thing we disagree on thus far.
-
SQ_CraziesI mean this is a totally typical discussion about religion. So many questions go ignored, pointless discussion probably...

I never said that I wasn't a sinner. I said that realizing that I am a sinner, I live my life in an attempt too live free of sin. I know what sin is, and therefore make a concerted effort to deny it in as much as I can.SQ_Crazies wrote:
Ok...
First of all, you aren't a sinner?
And to the last part of your post, which I bolded, how do you explain this:
"God is a God of love, patience, grace, mercy and forgiveness.
But woe unto those who knowingly wrongfully minister His word!"
Do you have children? Do you love your children as most parents do? Did your parents love you immensely?
If so, that is an example of how God loves us!
Even as God is loving, patient, graceful, merciful and forgiving, you should also know that He is a God of judgment, wrath, discipline and punishment!
He will not allow you to escape His judgment and wrath (anger) should you use His word to cause harm to any of His children.
I hope that helps! -
DeyDurkie5Why do people HAVE to live for a guy? Why can't they just commit their life to doing good to people and not getting caught up in what a book/person tells them to do.
-
Con_AlmaThey don't have to. You have that choice.
-
Be NiceThis thread is cracking me up. Why not ask justin to have a "gay only" section on this site?
-
SQ_CraziesYou said, "To love Christ is to denounce and turn from your sinful way of life in all it's forms."
So if you still sin does that mean you don't love Christ? Or you think he just grants free passes sometimes?
And you ignored the towers. How is God all of those things in that situation? You're telling me all of those people deserved to be punished by death? And what if I said that maybe from a terrorist mindset, they were carrying out his justice on sinners? Because based on what they believe they were, so are they wrong?
And your example of how God loves us is total crap. God doesn't love us because we love our parents and children... -

Doesn't seem that way with a lot of peopleCon_Alma wrote: They don't have to. You have that choice. -

No, see, that's how they avoid looking stupid. They say you have the choice, but if you don't chose their side then you're a sinner or whatever else they want to call you--but it's your choice to be that...DeyDurkie5 wrote:

I have to digest and provide some measure of thought to your comments. I'm not going to just "blurt" out a statement/comment simply for the sake of saying something.SQ_Crazies wrote: I'm not saying that what you believe is wrong, I'm saying that you pushing it as all there is is wrong and ignorant.
And are you going to address the picture of the towers?
When you speak with most Muslims, they will tell you that the Koran does not teach that type of violence. The experience at the towers were men utilizing their faith to justify their deeds.
Just the same as men in America have used the Christianity and the Bible as a front to some of their un-Christ-like behavior. -
Con_Alma"...So if you still sin does that mean you don't love Christ? Or you think he just grants free passes sometimes?..."
It doesn't mean you don't love Christ and it doesn't mean you get a free pass. You will "still sin". You can't avoid it. You don't have a choice. We are born into sin. You can only continue to strive towards perfection and ask forgiveness when you fail. You will never reach perfection.
God is all those things in that situation of the Towers because he gave us sinful men the free will to choose our actions, be they good or bad. He gave us the choice to act and believe what we want. Yes those men believe they were carrying out righteous acts and no I don't believe they were correct in those beliefs.
There are multiple types of love. -

It's not a choice to be a sinner. We have no choice in that matter. It doesn't mean as sinners we should continue to seek out living without sin. -

I agree with you!!!SQ_Crazies wrote: I mean this is a totally typical discussion about religion. So many questions go ignored, pointless discussion probably...
Person A: asks a question about God and/or pointlessly bashes the idea of God
Person B: tries to answer the questions as best they can and/or points out needless mockery
Person A: starting to amp up the game a little bit, escalating their fervor
Person B: goes further and further into detail with patience
Person A: states that this "is a totally typical pointless discussion about religion"
Yeah, can't argue much with that. -

So what, they carried it out on a religion premise. Who are you to say they were wrong--how do you know they weren't carrying out the word of God?Series62 wrote: When you speak with most Muslims, they will tell you that the Koran does not teach that type of violence. So you have a faith that God will forgive you...but really, Heaven may not exist because no one has ever lived a sin free life?Con_Alma wrote: You will never reach perfection.

Your way of life won't change overnight, it is an ongoing process that if sincere, will be obvious to you and to Him.SQ_Crazies wrote: You said, "To love Christ is to denounce and turn from your sinful way of life in all it's forms."

You misquoted and/or wrongly comprehended what I said. That was an example of how God loves you. Hopefully you had parents that loved you and if you have children, how you do love them.SQ_Crazies wrote: And your example of how God loves us is total crap. I didn't misinterpret, that just has nothing to do with God.Series62 wrote:

Great questions SQ...questions worth seeking out the answer to.
The definition of faith is inclusive of not having seen. Indeed God and Heaven may not exist but those that have faith that it does are not in need of seeing it first. Remember we already agreed that many "religious people" question that faith often.
You can strive for perfection by continuously trying to avoid sinful actions. -
SQ_CraziesHere is a question:
WHAT IF your life here on Earth is Heaven? Not any crazier a thought than it being some sort of afterlife. Are you wasting time trying to get to where you're already at while all of the wonderful things that God has surrounded you with are passing you by? And I'm not saying murdering people, but sins clearly go further than the 10 Commandments. -
SQ_CraziesBut if sinning isn't a choice then how do you avoid it?
-
Con_AlmaYou can't avoid it. You continuously seek to.

What if the effort in trying to avoid sin is what heaven is??
All good questions....questions worth seeking the answer to.
I believe Heaven is not a place but rather a spiritual state. It's not a location but a realization and eternal experience of being in the presence of God and His love. -
SQ_CraziesBut if it isn't a choice then you can't avoid it, so what are you seeking out that can stop destiny?
-
SQ_CraziesOk, then I believe that Heaven is a bunch of dime chicks coupled with unlimited 40 oz. Budweisers and blunts of the best weed ever created. I mean, if God loves me then that is what Heaven should be right?

You are displaying your desire to please your Creator by continuously trying to achieve what can not be achieved.
You are showing that although I am imperfect I will never stop trying to thank Him.
He gave me life. He gave me free will. He gave me the opportunity of eternal Peace.
My efforts of avoiding sin are my thanks.
