Is being GAY a choice or are you born that way?
-
newarkcatholicfanNot judging or ragging on anyone but since there has been so much good talk(MINUS THAT OF A COUPLE OF POSTERS) on the gay adoption thread I thought maybe you guys could do the same on here.

mattinctownI believe that you were born that way, always have and always will.

DeyDurkie5Born that way, just as you are born straight

Lovejoy1984Born that way, and we had this thread not too long ago.

BuckeyeBlueGotta believe that it is genetic. Just like I believe it is somewhere in my DNA that I'm partial to tall brunettes.
-
Mr PatEh, I don't think there really is a way to tell.

UA5straightin2008^^if it were genetic, a much much smaller % of the population would be gay
the alleles that code for some one being "gay" would almost never be passed on to offspring, and would die out when the person died
it is not possible to lose the recessive allele unless genetic drift occurs (which only acts on small populations) but if it were genetic it would act similar to many other genetic diseases that die off with the person with the disease before it can be passed on (i.e. cystic fibrosis)
just my thought, with a little science to back it up -
Gblocki say born that way until otherwise proven wrong.....but either way i dont care i wouldnt judge someone if they chose to be that way either

there are literally millions of cases of anecdotal evidence to the contrary. you yourself are one assuming you have a sexuality.UA5straightin2008 wrote: ^^if it were genetic, a much much smaller % of the population would be gay

there is never a point in time where someone chooses a gender that they are attracted to.
add in the fact that homosexuality is found in species other than humans the world around pretty much wrap up an argument that shouldnt be much of one in the first place. -
hoops23I don't remember when I made the choice to like boobies and ass.. It just happened one day when I was younger and thought, whoa, those are fucking awesome!
So, imo, I think you're born that way. Somewhere, some x's and y's got crossed and a person came out a bit differently..
Think about it, it seems like every gay guy has a high pitched voice and leans more towards the feminine side of stuff...
I don't know, just my two cents. But like I said, I wasn't sitting around one day and debated between liking women or men.. I liked women from the get go. -
queencitybuckeyeOne person seems awfully interested in all things gay. A little self-discovery exercise?
-
Swamp FoxI personally think that this is something you come equipped with.

noreply66could be both
I have know people that [you could say ] were guy when they were very young-and never had enough time in life to get to know the other sex.
Then I know some people that dated the other sex all the way through school and married and then find out the marrage broke up with the person dating the other sex. Thats not saying they didn't know they were guy at a younger age.
Just thing it could go either way -
se-alumI believe you are born that way. Like most have stated before, there was never a time when I decided between chicks and dudes, I've just always been attracted to women(dark complected brunettes to be exact).

SnotBubblesYou're not "gay" until you have sex with someone of the same sex. You may feel "gay" or have "gay" tendencies...but you're not gay.
However, I think it's a little of both. -
Devils AdvocateI myself find it hard to believe that it is genetic. If it were truly genetic, this deviation would tend to "breed" itself out of existence.
It is hard to say what makes someone sexually attracted to another. Everyone had their own little quirks that make the muffin moist or the dick hard. But as far as the sexual act itself, This is a choice.
I say that this is neither right or wrong, it just is.
I could care less what you do with your junk, as long as you do not impose your junk on me.
The thing that puzzles me most about homosexuality is that it is viewed as a deviation. People that look at others preferences and see that these acts do not align with thier own preferences or beliefs call those behaviors an aberration.
Conversely, people that engage in this "choice" are feel attacked for advertising their sexuality. when in fact it should be expected. Hell, if I lived to cook and eat little baby kittens and told everyone, I would expect that every one would treat me differently, I would be different. -

This line just made my muffin moist....Devils Advocate wrote: It is hard to say what makes someone sexually attracted to another. Everyone had their own little quirks that make the muffin moist or the dick hard. But as far as the sexual act itself, This is a choice. -
sleeperBorn.
However, some "tweeners" can choose to be gay if they want, and of course there are people who are "gay"(read: bi) for attention purposes. -
justincredible
I agree with this.sleeper wrote: Born.

tigerballonlineThis is a combination of both. First off all people are born into sin. So a person is born to sin, and being gay is no more a sin than adultery or any other sin. Having sex is a choice, whether it is gay or straight sex. A person who has homosexual urges does not have to give into those urges, and can stay abstinent. Just as a person who is straight may go there whole life not having sex. Believe it or not there are a few out there that have never had sex.

So being gay is a sin eh? I love how christians are not supposed to judge yet thats what they spend most of their time doing.tigerballonline wrote: This is a combination of both.
