That 2,000 year old book, The Holy Bible, is God's word, and to denounce His word is to denounce Him. You put the words in your own mouth. The Buddhists/Hinduists used God's words to define Karma.Big_Mirg_ZHS wrote:Series62 wrote:

Now, if he said "all those homos are going to hell and are dispicable" then you'd have a point.
"Sin is often used to mean an action that is prohibited or considered wrong;"
Judge: to form an opinion of; He has an opinion that its a sin. He says its a sin so he obviously thinks its wrong. There is my logic. Im catholic but i still dont think its a sin. And i still think ill go to heaven not because my brother is in to dudes and I don't sit there telling him how awful of a human being he is.
Do catholics read the Bible at all or do they just let the priest to read and interpret it to them?
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Jesus believed in Karma, I never said i dont live by Gods word, I just said i dont live my life based on a 2,000 year old book. I never once denouced God in Any way. Nice way to put words into my mouth. Nice try though.Series62 wrote:

Whether catholicism is the largest religion in the world or not matters not, as it does not hold true to the Bible in entirety either. FairwoodKingWe gay people know that we did not become this way by choice. As I stated in a previous post, when I was 18 I "chose" to be straight. No matter what I did, it didn't work. Then at the age of 30, I chose to come out of the closet and be myself. I was a great deal happier when I made that decision.
The most unfortunately thing about being gay is that our acceptance into general society is not determined by us but by straight people. It was straight people who voted here in the state of Washington to allow us all the rights of marriage. But it was also straight people who voted against allowing gay people to adopt in Arkansas.
The Bible is our biggest enemy. The Bible is clearly wrong regarding homosexual issues, but Christians accept it. It was because of the Bible that gays and lesbians were burned at the stake during the Middle Ages and why many were arrested in the US as recently as the 20th century.
It is my job as a gay man to convince as many people as possible that we are perfectly normal people and that there is no logical reason why we shouldn't get married and adopt children. But it is a tough hill to climb. I know that I never made a choice to become gay, but there is no way I can absolutely prove it to anyone. Since I am the only gay man who has posted on this thread, I hope you will accept my word since I am the only one who has gone through this. I also welcome any questions. -

"Thou shall not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination" Leviticus 18:22
"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and recieving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet." Romans 1:26-27.

The Bible teaches Christians to love their fellow man, but we are not to love sin. I do not love the sin that I am wont to commit. Fairwood is gay for one, so I highly doubt he thinks it is wrong. Two, it's not wrong to be gay...if you quit living by the bible then you would realize that it's just as natural as you coming out of the womb wanting to fuck girls. Three, how are you going to tell god anything he is dead. He was just some dude that died years ago, the fact you bash people for what they want personally makes you and every other christian lunatics. If you had a gay son, would you banish him??Series62 wrote:

"Christians have to help Jesus Christ be manifested by their way of life, showing those around them love, understanding, and tolerance are possible. This will not be accomplished just by books and sermons. It has to be realized by the way we live."
I know it isn't fair, probably, as i've known so many "Christ-like" Christians. But, i figure it is appropriate, given the way Series, and CGW as well, have been acting. -

Did god write the book? Or is it just a collection of moral stories that were passed down for ages until finally put down on paper. When was the first bible written? Or by Whom? Who decides its actually the word of God that Matthew, Mark, Luke and John wrote down?? What if its not the word of God and just some ramblings that got written down. Im too smart to just blindly believe what i read that is basically 25 guys opinion.Series62 wrote:

FairwoodKingI will try to be as objective as I can about the conflict between religion and homosexuality. It is true that I am an atheist and I know many other gay atheists. But I also know a great many gay and lesbian Christians and Jews, and many of them are very devout. I could never understand how it is possible to be a gay Christian since Christianity clearly doesn't want us. But it happens often, so I feel the need to state this.
