    Not really.

    Mr. Pat,

Why do the catholic call the pope, holy father?
  • Mr Pat
Well, we call priests "Father," and he is the top priest so to speak. He's the leader of the Catholic Church and it's a title. I also found this reasoning behind it.

"Jesus chose the apostles to be the earthly leaders of the Church. He gave them his own authority to teach and to govern not as dictators, but as loving pastors and fathers. That is why Catholics call their spiritual leaders "father." In doing so we follow Paul's example: "I became your father in Jesus Christ through the gospel" (1 Cor. 4:15)"

    I understand. Thank you.

Just curious, can you prove its fictional?

I mean, I can't prove its 100% true, but you can neither prove its fictional. (Jonah in the whale story)

So you think a man could live in a whale for 3 days....uh, ok.

Try it and let us know GoPens.

NO!, I do however know what His word says regarding this sin and others.
"Thou shall not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination" Leviticus 18:22

"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and recieving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet." Romans 1:26-27.

You have to love men like you who are wont to ridicule in ignorance.
Because no Bible verse was ever written with the perspective of common thought of that day and age, right?

I mean, no Bible verse would ever propose that man not touch his wife while she's "unclean" (menstruating) or tell us that eating shellfish is wrong.

You want to pick and choose the verses that best suit your needs of the moment -- have at it. But don't call those of us who actually think about things before spewing mindless bigotry ignorant.

Um...there are some topics that God is quite clear how God thinks/feels according to what he said in the Bible.

I'm not saying I know everything about God, but I do know what he said with the Bible.
So which is it? An eye for an eye or Thou Shalt Not Kill?

To my knowledge, Jesus Christ never said one word about whether homosexuality was a sin, and since the entire religion is based on him, I'd say that omission should be considered quite telling.

I'm not a big fan of simply saying "This."

    But....This.

    Started out bad. Got worse.

so you're telling me that today in our age of society with all the advancements in technology that they never even came close to, they were able to live in a whale for 3 days as well as have people be well over 150 years old?, but we can't?

Series 62-- You're an idiot! You believe in mythology and ancient superstition and I believe in science and reason, yet I'm supposed to respect your beliefs but you're not supposed to respect mine? That's bullshit. You're just a typical Christian asshole with your head up your butt.

You don't know what you are talking about. I have never gotten an erection from being around a woman and I never will. My only choice was to have sex with men or not to have sex at all. I chose having sex with men and I'm very glad I did.

Does it really bother you that much? Who cares if it's Adam and Eve, Bert and Ernie, or JFK, Joe DiMaggio, and Marilyn Monroe.

    Get off your high horse.

Now, now...he's not allowed to have his head up his butt...it's a sin and an abomination against God...

While I agree that his comments indicate an over-simplistic outlook, I'm curious why you feel the need to generalize Christians as "assholes with [their heads up their butts]."

In place of "Christian," try inserting "Muslim" or "Hindu."

Truth or falsehood aside, do those not sound ignorant as a result of their over-generalizations?

I empathize with how you must feel in reaction to his statements, but as you seem to be intelligent, I would urge you to take the approach of "loving those who persecute/mistreat you." In doing so, you would CERTAINLY be more "Christ-like" than the one attempting to attack you.

Series 62, Christians are COMMANDED (not "encouraged" or "prodded") to "speak the truth IN LOVE," or am I reading Ephesians 4:15 incorrectly?

Many people's beliefs are obviously different. I am a christian and I believe everyone has a right to believe what they want, I respect the bible and others don't. I don't agree with anything other than christianity , however it is my duty as a christian to except anyone as they are whether I agree or not and likewise they don't have to agree with me but accept me for who I am.
Some don't believe in god or they claim the bible is fiction, SO WHAT, that is their perogative. I don't agree with alot that has been discussed on this thread and I don't have to, and others don't have to agree with my beliefs either. It doesn't matter what others think about your beliefs, what matters is what you believe in yourself, whether each side of the sword agrees with one another or not.

Fairwoodking you have the right to be queer and I have the right to my bible, I am at peace with what I believe in and if you believe what your doing is right more power to you because you have that right, but I don't have to agree and you don't have to agree with me either.
