    But, but, WHY? :(
Yeah, I disagree with THAT wholeheartedly too. As long as it isn't directed at a player, coach, or administrator, what is the difference between here and there? Nothing, it's the same audience... same amount of high schoolers here as there are there (very few).

I'm not saying we should all make a longshoreman blush over there, but pick a rule and use it everywhere on the site (my opinion: the rule should be within reason all over). I get confused on which profanity rule applies where if I get on here drunk! :p

(This is why I didn't get moderator on the first day, and never will, lol)

With 'freedom' comes responsibility....and I would hope that some would heed that in their posts and threads. Certainly some well placed expletives can liven up a post and get your point across....and that would be my interpretation of 'rule #3'. But the rule does imply some limits does it not? What are those limits? I've not seen anything pulled off the board...not when the stuff was gratuitous...not when it probably exceeded common decency... e.g. thread title "So, How many teachers are banging their students?" If you are going to have a rule but not enforce it, then get rid of it and quit pretending there is one. I mean...what's the point of having moderators?

Well I posted a picture of me having intercourse with an unsuspecting camper and it got removed, so there must be someone moderating!
  • TheRapist Sasquatch
Unless ya'll just a bunch of Sasquatch hatin bigots on here.

How are they not enforcing the rule?

I've yet to see full blown nudity, and again, I haven't seen any one excessively swearing.

I keep to that rule 98% of the time. It's important to me....but to each their own.

Do you even know what trolling is??? I think not. I was just asking for why you said bingo. And the rules are being enforced just not to your southern baptist absolution.

Sure, the sports talk is nice (since we can actually do it for free here, and people are interested) but I do agree that it was not the primary motivation. Most of us just wanted to continue shooting the shit about absolutely nothing!
    This.

When I was on JJ's the only forum I really ever visited was ST/I. I'd stop in and peek at the HS football forum a little bit to read up on Licking Valley during the season but that was it. When they announced they were going to start charging for memberships and I saw the outrage I knew people weren't going to stick around (on ST/I). I didn't particularly want to lose the daily interaction I had with those folks, and with my profession being in web development it was natural for me to throw a new site together really quick.

I honestly didn't expect it to grow like it did but with the influx of members came an influx of requests for new forums. I added them but it wasn't really my intention for this to be a JJ clone. That is, however, what this place has started to evolve into.

Sure, some people might find this board offensive and I for that I apologize. Like someone said, you cannot please everyone. I am not going to start locking this place down like they did at JJ's. Sure, some people might take rule #3 a little far with their cursing. For the most part people follow it pretty well and I appreciate that. I think it is (generally) pretty clear what the content of a thread is going to be based on the title ("boobs","booty", etc). The simple solution is to obviously ignore the ones you have no interest in. I'll look into seeing if there is a way that I can have people set up individual filters to block the swearing individually but I can't promise anything. I've also got the option of creating a "safer" general forum for people but I can guarantee that it'll be slow.

A couple of people are also throwing the "business" word around. It isn't my intention for this to turn into a business. I'm obviously not gonna be upset if I make a little bit of money with it but it will never make enough for me to quit my job or anything.

I hope these answer everyone's questions and/or touches on all of the concerns. I know there are some people that won't like it but I am willing to live with that. I'm not gonna be a d__k and say if you don't like it GTFO 'cause that's not my style. I'd prefer people stick around and just ignore the stuff they don't agree with.

That is the age old and wise adage that was always posted at JJ's when someone took offense, and for the most part that is spot on. Just ignore what you know is going to offend you.
Still, I think it's human nature to push the envelope and test limits. I think at some point you are going to have draw a line and stick by it, lest you lose good people/posters because they don't want to wade thru the garbage. You don't have to bleep every little thing like JJ, but you don't have to tolerate obvious trash either. It is your site and you can run it how you want. Like a party thrown at your house...you don't mind if people mess it up a bit while having a good time....but that doesn't mean you have to tolerate people trashing the place and shitting in the corners.

I'm sure any poster that had any thoughts of leaving here..is already gone. You see from the time you join the content that is on the site. If you don't like that content..you surely aren't going to come back a second time are you?

    Apparently not,....as this thread evidences.

Rather than quote the entire speech by justincredible in post #115 (which is a pet peeve of mine.........quoting the whole post to reply....because it's hard on my thumb to scroll on my Crackberry........but nobody gives a shit <---that felt nice to type...............soooooooooooo:

I want to give a tip of the hat to justincredible for the really nice job he has done in starting this. The old SI/T thread really WAS where you could find all the fun and action. And you got almost all of the "fun" people to come over here.

I don't like to see posters typing in "dirty" words. Once in a while........maybe OK, but the constant use....I don't like.

BUT, what the heck does anybody care about what I have to say?..........it's just like where I work. I can have my say if I want, then get dogged out about it there AND then I can come here and get dogged out again!!

It's the best of both worlds!

CGW should go back to PayPay. They don't allow shit on there.

Justin, your wise beyond your years. Go with what your heart tells you. Its your site, you make the major decisions.

Also, one more thing, I'd love to see you make some money off of this site after all the time and dedication you put into it, you deserve it. With free-huddle merchandise and advertising, it won't be long.

We just got back from the Ironman Wrestling tournament(the toughest high school wrestling tournament in the country called by Sports Illustrated) and freehuddle is making a great name for itself just by word of mouth.

    Good luck.....

cats gone wild wrote: As suspected, no one will answer my question about rule #3. Why have it a rule if 95% posters aint following it?
To answer your question directly, cats gone wild, the answer is no. I follow it because I generally don't cuss. Oh sure, I'll let a few expletives go when I hit my finger with a hammer, but as a rule I don't cuss. Do I think it's appropriate to use that kind of language on a forum where younger people are posting and reading. Again, no I don't, but have you noticed how many people rise to defend the right to cuss on an open forum. When a rule is written in such a general way, some people feel that the gloves are off and anything goes. They test the water and see how deep they can submerge themselves before someone has had enough. It isn't just the cussing, it's the constant innuendo that sometimes bothers me, but I am in the minority and I respect the right of people to speak freely, but I'd certainly like to see us be a little more careful in what we choose to type on here. One poster said that perhaps if parents don't like it, then they should parent. There are a few parents on here that post things that may be inappropriate for younger access. Perhaps parenting goes further than we are currently taking it.
