Forced labor is a $31,000,000,000 industry, lets legalize that too.

yeah yeah yeah, not the same thing. but legalizing marijuana simply because of the money is pretty dumb.

Legalizing a harmless, $14 billion industry isn't dumb, it's genius.

People who smoke Marijuana should be drilled by moving automobiles.

0 deaths is a crock of BS. In the real drug world, people are being killed over this all the time.

Until it's legalized, you should donate your body to help smuggle it.

    :)

No deaths from tobacco either, since it's impossible to overdose on it.

Do you really want to go down that road?

There's a black market for organs, yet organ transplants are legal :D

Tobacco is a legal substance. You can't overdose from twinkies either...and they're also a legal substance.

This argument is pretty easy to make these days. We're talking about an 80 year old policy based on 80 year old ideals backed by 80 year old science...not to mention the corruption involved from paper companies.

It's a substance that's less harmful than alcohol or cigarettes and quite frankly the number of people being incarcerated is ridiculous and costing taxpayers money.

If you smoke 10 packs of cigarettes in one day, you'll die.

If you smoke ya smoke the equivalent in marijuana joints, you'll wish ya hadn't.

It was never made illegal because of the lack of tax revenue it would generate, it's size as a world crop nor the number of related deaths.

There may have been deaths related to marijuana, there may not have been.

The points made by the OP I don't believe is why the drug was made illegal.

Lets say that I am allowed to grow Marijuana if legalized. I own close to a 100 acres of land on the Ohio river in Meigs county. Now that gives me pretty a nice marketing tool to begin, but let's get to the numbers. If I got 700 pounds of top buds an acre that would be a decent amount per acre. Those are figures from early 1900's so I'm sure my yield would be quite a bit higher than those estimates. So 700 times 100, equals 70,000 pounds of pot. 70,000 pounds times 200 dollars an ounce equals 224,000,000. Yeah that's right 224 million in net sales now if there was a 50 dollar an ounce tax, that would mean I would pay 56 million in excise tax each crop. Then take my income taxes out of my 224 million and that would be 33% or more which is another 75 million. So my total tax contribution would be over 130 Million per crop harvest. I would not have a DAMN problem paying 130 Million in taxes if I was still bringing home 150 Million a year. So lets get this rolling and legalize and tax it.

It probably will never happen, but it is nice to dream. The richy rich don't want some dumb little poor guy to come up in the world.

The fact is that anyone who has been around both drugs knows that Marijuana is LESS harmful than Alcohol. The only people that don't agree are usually older and have been subject to the years of propaganda thrown at you. ("Reefer Madness" etc.) It was made illegal because of the paper industry and prejudice towards Mexicans.

Then why is Marijuana legal in many other countries and you don't here a lot of problems about it. Except Mexico because of the drug cartels. Legalize it that problem will most likely go away.
  • justincredible
The fact that marijuana isn't legal is a crime. Actually, the fact that all drugs aren't legal is a crime.
  • detectivegibbles
Smoking pot and getting high has just some minor side affects, happy, hungry, sleepy....
