    I'm fine with people going "off" the hard line of their ideology. We absolutely should be able to pick and choose which side of the fence we stand on when it comes to particular things. Being a hardliner/zealout to one way of thinking is never a good thing. Branch off. Pick and choose.

    They can penalize IF they want to -- a good example is for the Buffalo Bills running back who did nothing respectful and essentially mocked the protest.

    Recommendations are completely different than mandates. It says "should." What happens if you can't? That means you're still breaking policy. Policy also does allow for certain people groups to respond how they feel with the national anthem (i.e., those that do not believe in celebrating/praising something other than their "god").

    -- You shall get your flu shot before winter comes.

    The penalty comment in the policy talks about being on the field. It has nothing to do with standing, sitting or kneeling.

    Which is why it was stated that the 3 teams (Pitt, Tennessee, and Seattle) could be subject to a penalty. Then the league announced that those teams would not be penalized for not being on the field for the anthem.

    The Constitution insures that if you don''t want to stand for the flag, the gubmint can't force you to.
