Everything I hate about people who are into partisan politics. Something he'd be ready to hang the guy for if he were from the other party becomes "nothing to see here" when the shoe is on the other foot. Despicable.SportsAndLady;1881046 wrote:Dear god. Between that and CC's "you wouldn't say anything if it was a lib, troll!" comment...well, I can't say I'm remotely surprised. Just part of living in a world, where no matter what side you're on, the only news that's "real" is what you agree with and the go-to excuse for anything that is negative is "FAKE NEWS!".queencitybuckeye;1881049 wrote:Everything I hate about people who are into partisan politics. Anthony Weiner, the former politician and now convicted federal sex offender, reported Monday morning to Federal Medical Center Devens, a federal prison in Ayer, Massachusetts. He will begin serving his 21 months for sexting with a minor.QuakerOats;1881034 wrote:Good post. Once the media runs with it, you are damaged goods forever, whether the story is true or not. Unless you are Bill Clinton. There was a guy who harassed, coerced, assaulted, and raped multiple women, but since he was a democrat, he was allowed by the media and his colleagues to remain in public office. Moore, if true, kissed a girl and then when she asked to leave he immediately drove her home, so the story goes, but he will be forced out, and perhaps deservedly so. But the double standard is immeasurable .

Others in Alabama shrugged at the allegations. “There’s nothing to see here,” said Jim Zeigler, the state auditor and a longtime supporter of Mr. Moore. “Single man, early 30s, never been married, dating teenage girls. Never been married and he liked younger girls. According to The Washington Post account he never had sexual intercourse with any of them.”

David Hall, also highlighted the age gap but called the accusation irrelevant.
"It was 40 years ago," he told the Star. "I really don't see the relevance of it. He was 32. She was supposedly 14. She's not saying that anything happened other than they kissed."

Moore's probably ready to kill this idiot (the state auditor). With one response, he (the auditor) was able to suggest his (Moore's) guilt, justify pedophilia and then alienate people who aren't looking to Christianity to influence their voting.SportsAndLady;1881047 wrote:"Zechariah was extremely old to marry Elizabeth and they became the parents of John the Baptist," Zeigler said. As I posted originally; if he is guilty of the allegations he should go, and "deservedly so". Not hard to understand.
When does Bill Clinton report to the Arkansas state penitentiary? -

When someone actually proves guilt in a court of law, as opposed to you simply saying he's guilty based on allegations in a weak-ass attempt to deflect from the current allegations against Moore. At least that'd be my guess.QuakerOats;1881064 wrote:As I posted originally; if he is guilty of the allegations he should go, and "deservedly so". Not hard to understand.

Unless more women come out, or they provide on camera interviews and provide evidence, the party will still support him.
I've grown so cynical over the last year, that I say nothing happens to Moore, he still wins the seat by a wide margin, and will serve in the Senate. It is Alabama after all. -

On any side, there's something that doesn't sit well with me in regard to the idea of indicting anyone, even if just in the court of public opinion, based exclusively on someone else's accusation.ptown_trojans_1;1881066 wrote:This has been the cover for the Rs to still support him.

I understand the delicate nature of doubting someone who has been abused and/or assaulted, and I'm certainly not lost on the notion that men have traditionally gotten away with assault far too often in our history. But it seems to me that there has to be an alternative that doesn't mean a presumption of guilt at the first claim of assault. -

Corroborating testimony from witnesses/victims carries a lot of credibility, as far as I'm concerned. -

Nonsense. Random girls are just sprouting up falsely accusing this man of god of diddling them years ago. It’s all a conspiracy and none of it is true.Fab4Runner;1881073 wrote:Four women, 30 corroborating sources. That's how.

Yeah, I have thought about that a little recently. I do wonder where the tipping point occurs where people just starting chasing stories and shoddy reporting leads to false stories.
I will say this Post story is pretty well sourced and tight on sources and methods.
Still, I doubt it means Moore steps aside or loses. -

And you and yours make excuses
"Joel Pollak, editor-at-large of Breitbart, contorted himself to defend Moore on MSNBC. According to Pollak, “the 16 year old and the 18 year old have no business in that story,” because the age of consent in Alabama is 16. Pollak insisted that those relationships, being legal, were “erfectly legitimate.” He went on to argue, “As far as we know, there’s only one relationship that’s been alleged that is problematic.” Only one. How many 14-year olds saying Roy Moore touched them would it take to disturb Joel Pollak? The answer is probably that he’d defend as many as Steve Bannon tells him to defend."

Oh, you're probably right on that last part, and I didn't necessarily mean that about this case exclusively. And again, though I understand the problem with doubting the testimony of an assault victim, I can't say I trust that nobody would abuse an assumption of truth for anyone who comes forward claiming to be the victim of assault.
Just seems like the public would be quick to side with the accuser to a concerning degree. -

The power of that accusation has definitely been weaponized. Before you might have said it's a really tough thing to come forward with and so they deserve benefit of the doubt, but with all the BS swirling around with the "#Metoo" campaigns, etc....it's almost empowering and a badge of courage to accuse someone now.O-Trap;1881092 wrote: And again, though I understand the problem with doubting the testimony of an assault victim, I can't say I trust that nobody would abuse an assumption of truth for anyone who comes forward claiming to be the victim of assault.
Normally when there are multiple complaints, then you go "ok, there's something there". But some of the stories I'm seeing on this Hollywood stuff make me go "hmmm....that seems embellished, at a minimum".
I mean, the story on Louis C.K. OK, he's got at least 4 women accusing him so he's a dirtball. But he gets to his room with the two women, and immediately (as they describe it).....ASKS if he can whip it out.....then whips it out anyway....and starts masturbating. Who does that? Why do so many of these stories involve solo perving....just bizarre to me, and I think for one reason or another "facts" are being changed or made-up -
SportsAndLadyMoore was on the Hannity radio show today and said he doesn’t deny dating girls as young as 16, but he always asked the mother’s permission.

LOL, even then a 30-yr old isn't going to ask permission to date a 16-yr old, because he already knows the answer....and down south it's probably very dangerous to one's health.
