    This is a few days old, but I just caught wind of this. Apparently New York is looking to drop a literacy test (writing and reading) for teachers to qualify to teach, because not many African Americans or Hispanics are passing. They believe a higher percentage of white teachers no longer represent their student body. A federal judge in New York (not known for being a conservative state for those living under a rock) already ruled that the exam is not racist. I am not sure how a reading and writing test could be racist to begin with.

    So, the same people who cry about needy children being at a disadvantage, because they are less privileged now think the best solution is to give these students less qualified teachers?

    I have been saying that equal opportunity has been bullshit for years, they want equal outcome. Anyone who supports this shit is helping this country turn into shit. Also, aren't they essentially saying these people aren't as smart? Same thing with race rewards in Texas colleges?

    I was at a federal construction conference this week and a good portion of the big Engineering and Construction firms are staying away from it or being very quiet on if they want to bid on it.
    It is business sure, but some big companies may just want to punt on it and go after another project. I'm guessing if you are a mid to small company in the Southwest looking to make a name you would throw in a bid.
    The awards for it will be interesting to see the mix of companies.
